Philadelphia struggled against the Eastern Conference, going just 19-24-7, while their best performance came against the Central Division. The New York Islanders snuck into the final guaranteed spot of the Metro Division last season, as they finished with 94 points. Their 29 regulation wins was the lowest by any team in the guaranteed spots in the league. The Isles were also the only team in a guaranteed spot to have a negative goal differential on the season (-17) and one of just two playoff teams to carry a negative goal differential.
2024-25 Carolina Hurricanes Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/17/2024
Last season was a good one for Carolina fans, as the Hurricanes finished with 111 points while also reaching the second round of the playoffs. They were tied for the second most regulation wins at 44 last season, while finishing second in the Eastern Conference with a +63-goal differential. Carolina handled the Islanders in the first round of the playoffs, winning in five games, but their season came to an end after the Rangers took the series in six games.
2024-25 Columbus Blue Jackets Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/17/2024
The Blue Jackets had a bad season a year ago. They finished in the basement of the Eastern Conference with 66 points. They managed just 21 regulation wins and finished with an Eastern Conference worst -63 goal differential. Though they struggled against everybody, they did manage to have an 8-5-3 record against the Pacific Division, the only division they had a winning record against. This now marks four straight years without a playoff appearance for the Blue Jackets.

by Ryan Cobbett - 9/16/2024

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/16/2024

Their 33 regulation wins were the third lowest of teams who made the playoffs and the lowest among those who held a guaranteed spot.
2024-25 Ottawa Senators Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/13/2024
Ottawa was one of the most disappointing teams from last year’s campaign. After bringing in Claude Giroux in 2023, the Sens followed that up by adding Jakob Chychrun and Vladimir Tarasenko in hopes of reaching relevance. Unfortunately, last season was anything but good for Ottawa as they finished with just 78 points and a -26-point differential on the season. They played terribly away from home, going 16-23-2 on the road, which really held them back last year as they never got going.

by Ryan Cobbett - 9/12/2024
You can’t do it any better than Florida did last season. They dominated their way to winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, taking down Edmonton in seven games. In all, the Panthers went 16-8 in the playoffs and finished with a +11-goal differential.
2024-25 Detroit Red Wings Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/12/2024
The Red Wings just fell short of the playoffs in 2023 as their hopes faded on the last day of the regular season. They went on a tear through their last six games where they picked up nine points and kept pace until the very end, literally; their final game was a shootout winner against Montreal, but the celebration was somber as they knew their efforts came up just short.
2024-25 Buffalo Sabres Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals
by Ryan Cobbett - 9/11/2024
The Buffalo Sabres performed better than expected in 2023-24, in large part because of the emergence of their goaltender, but they still failed to make the playoffs and ended up finishing seven points short of the last wild card spot. They finished the year with 84 points, going 39-37-6 and finishing with a +2-goal differential on the year. Their 244 goals against were the lowest amount for a team that did not make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
