NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 11/29/2017
After a break for Thanksgiving last week, we are back with another edition of the Fading the Top 25 weekly free picks article. The College Football Playoff picture isn't very clear at all right now. The winner of the Georgia vs. Auburn game will be in. But will Alabama? If Wisconsin beats Ohio State they'll get in, but Ohio State may have a hard time getting in even if they win. There's plenty left to be decided!

And the award for worst team in the country for 2017 goes to the UTEP Miners. They are the only school to finish without a victory (0-12) and weren't a good bet, either, finishing at 2-9-1 ATS. Only Hawaii (1-10-1 ATS) was worse in that regard. The 12 losses were a UTEP record, and it was the school's first winless season since 1973 (0-11).
Expert College Football Handicapping: Alabama Doesn't Deserve Playoff Invite
by Robert Ferringo - 11/27/2017
Alabama absolutely, positively should not make the College Football Playoff. And there is no coherent argument that anyone in the United States can make to the contrary. The Auburn Tigers manhandled the Crimson Tide 26-14 last Saturday, dealing Alabama its first loss of the season. That defeat eliminated Alabama's hope for an SEC West or an overall SEC Championship. And when the most recent college football rankings were released on Monday, it prompted the Tide to drop from No. 1 to No. 5.
NCAA Football Betting Odds: Week 13 Line Movements & Last-Minute News
by Alan Matthews - 11/24/2017
Sometimes a player has enough personality, style, talent, whatever you want to call it, to be the biggest star in college football in a season. Two names that immediately come to mind would be Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow. Otherwise, though, the coaches are the stars of this sport (just like NCAA basketball). Don't believe me? It's the last full weekend of the regular season, and if you go to any major college football news site the main headlines are about coaching changes instead of games.

First and foremost, I would like to wish all my American friends and colleagues a belated Happy Thanksgiving. I hope the turkey was delicious and the family get together was the least stressful as possible. I also hope you remained sober enough to effectively bet yesterday's NFL board. If you didn't and ended up losing some money, you've come to the right place. I will help you make it back and then some.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Stanford Cardinal Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/22/2017
This game isn't all it could be because both teams have had some disappointing losses this year. There is no shot - even an outside one - at a playoff berth to play for. But there are still big things on the line this weekend for both teams. If Notre Dame wins they would all but certainly lock up a spot in a New Year's Six bowl game.
West Virginia Mountaineers at Oklahoma Sooners Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/22/2017
The biggest storyline in this game, and the only real reason to pay attention to it because it isn't too likely to be a thriller on the field, is the playoff implications. Oklahoma is one of four teams, along with Alabama, Clemson and Miami, that entirely control their destiny - if they win out they will be in the playoff regardless of what happens everywhere else.
Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/21/2017
This is the eighth time since 1963 that the Iron Bowl has featured two teams ranked in the Top 10. Auburn has won four of the seven games, including the last two. The most recent was the 2013 edition settled with the 'kick-six' that was one of the craziest finishes to a game in recent memory.
South Florida Bulls at Central Florida Golden Knights Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/21/2017
No one anywhere in the country predicted that the South Florida-Central Florida rivalry game on Thanksgiving weekend would be one of the most consequential football games played in The Sunshine State this season. However, Florida State and Florida have gone off the rails this season. And Miami has only played two truly big home games (vs. Virginia Tech and vs. Notre Dame) this season. So with two Top 20 teams and a spot in the conference title game on the line, this USF-UCF game is one of the most important games in this football-rich state this college season.
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 13
by Aaron Smith - 11/21/2017
It's time for the Week 13 edition of the mid-major betting report. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Prior to this season's numbers, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 13 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/20/2017
It hasn't happened as of this writing, but I presume that either BetOnline, Bovada or BookMaker (maybe more than one) will post a prop on whom the next UCLA coach will be in the wake of the school firing Jim Mora Jr. on Sunday after losing Saturday to USC. I assure you that Athletic Director Dan Guerrero got "permission" to do so from some of the school's biggest boosters because UCLA has to pay Mora around $12 million to go away.
NCAA Football Betting Odds: Week 12 Line Movements & Last-Minute News
by Alan Matthews - 11/17/2017
Last weekend was a huge one in terms of shaping the College Football Playoff, and the new CFP Top 25 had quite a shakeup. With Auburn's wipeout of Georgia, Alabama moved to No. 1 - even though the Tide were somewhat fortunate to escape at Mississippi State in Week 11. Clemson jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 and Miami (No. 3) and Oklahoma (No. 4) are now in the national semifinals as things stand.
NCAA Football Handicapping: Miami Hurricanes Championship Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 11/17/2017
I thought the Miami Hurricanes were on the right track and that they were going to take a step forward this year. But unbeaten and in control of their playoff destiny? Didn't see that coming. And anyone who says that they did is, at the very least, a wild optimist - and more likely a liar. Yet here they are, a couple of weeks removed from one of the most impressive wins of the season over Notre Dame.

When UCLA takes the field for their game against No. 11 USC tomorrow at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, it will mark the first meeting between stud quarterbacks Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold, both of whom are projected to be one of the top picks in next year's NFL Draft should they enter. Both QBs are in their third collegiate season, and this rivalry has lost some luster due to injuries and quarterback logjams. This season, Darnold seems to have had the better go of it. His Trojans are nationally-ranked and are on the cusp of a spot in the Pac-12 title game while Rosen and his Bruins are mired in mediocrity at 5-5. For every step forward, they've taken two steps back; Rosen's stock is suffering as a result.
College Football Playoff Scenarios with Expert Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/17/2017
There are two weeks of regular-season action and conference championship games standing between us and the field for this year's College Football Playoff. It doesn't seem like much, but everything can change in a flash - just ask Georgia. As we get ready for a pretty dull slate of games from a playoff perspective this week, and a pretty thrilling one next week, it's a good time to assess where we are at, what could happen, what the odds say, and so on (odds to make the CFP are from BetOnline):
NCAA Football Mid-Major Free Betting Picks: Marshall Thundering Herd Week 12
by Aaron Smith - 11/16/2017
The Week 12 edition of the mid-major betting report is ready to go. This is the seventh straight season I'm doing the mid-major report for Doc's Sports. How have the selections on the mid-major betting report done? Overall, the record is 40 wins and 29 losses with a gain of $1,500.
Michigan Wolverines at Wisconsin Badgers Expert Picks with Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
This game is just massive for both teams. Wisconsin sits fifth in the College Football Playoff, and with two ACC teams ahead of them they have a very good chance of moving up into the crucial top four spots if they win out. A 13-0 Big Ten champion would not be left in the cold this year. Michigan is not going to be a playoff team, and they don't control their own destiny, but their chances of a berth in the conference championship game - and a rematch with Wisconsin - requires wins against the Badgers and Buckeyes in their final two and a lot of help.
Virginia Cavaliers at Miami Hurricanes Expert Picks with Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
It was pretty easy in Mark Richt's last couple of years in Georgia to question whether he had lost his edge. His swagger was gone, and the only thing he was consistently great at was underachieving expectations. Well, all he needed was a change of scenery, I guess. He's only in his second year at his alma mater, and he has this team heading straight to a playoff berth.
UCF Knights at Temple Owls Expert Betting Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2017
There are just four college football teams that remain undefeated now that Georgia has lost. Alabama should be a surprise to no one. Miami and Wisconsin both face challenges from feisty-but-beatable opponents this week. And then there is Central Florida. Scott Frost is proving just how good he is as a coach this year - especially when you consider that the team has had two games cancelled due to hurricane issues and had to throw in a quick makeup game.
Kentucky Wildcats at Georgia Bulldogs Expert Picks with Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/15/2017
I don't know if any team in the country has a tougher task than the Georgia Bulldogs this week. And it has very little do to with playing Kentucky. Georgia has to pick itself up off the mat this week after getting floored 40-17 at Auburn last week. The Bulldogs were the No. 1 team in the country heading into that game. But their national title hopes took a major shot, and now Georgia has to regroup and try to refocus against an opponent that is a step down in class.
