College Football Picks: Pitt at UConn Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/11/2010
Officials at the Big East Conference, of course, aren’t supposed to root for one of their teams if they are playing another Big East foe. But I guarantee you that both conference officials and BCS officials are big University of Pittsburgh fans in Thursday night’s ESPN game at Connecticut.
Week 11 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 11/10/2010
I try not to let the games I pick in any given week bother me - you win some and you lose some, so as long as you are making good decisions you’re fine. Some weeks, though, the fates conspire to annoy me. Last week was one of those weeks.
College Football Picks: Miami (Ohio) at Bowling Green Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/9/2010
For the second night in a row, the Mid-American Conference has the college football world all to itself on Wednesday night. I’d like to say this Miami (Ohio)-Bowling Green matchup has equal value to Tuesday night’s Toledo-Northern Illinois game, but that just wouldn’t be true.
College Football Picks: Central Florida vs. Houston Betting Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 11/5/2010
The matchup between the Central Florida Knights and the Houston Cougars was expected to be one of the biggest in Conference USA history when the season started. Now Houston QB Case Keenum is out for the year and the team has other injury problems. However, they are still leading the Conference USA West Division. Central Florida is unbeaten in conference play, and they lead the East Division. Houston may not have all of its stars, but this is still a huge game for both of these teams.
Week 10 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 11/5/2010
Lets get right down to it - I have two games I want to take a close look at this week. These week 10 college football picks and odds will hopefully prove themselves on Saturday afternoon and evening. There are some very nice college football lines this week and we look to take advantage:
College Football Picks: Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/4/2010
The winner of the last three regular-season matchups between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech has gone on to win the ACC. That streak could certainly grow to four this year with both teams in contention. However, if the Jackets – the defending ACC champs – don’t win on Thursday night then you can all but hand the Coastal Division to the Hokies.
College Football Picks: Rutgers at South Florida Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/2/2010
It’s hard to figure out the Big East these days, as two-time defending champion Cincinnati is in the conference basement while perennial doormat Syracuse looks like the biggest challenger to first-place Pittsburgh. This Rutgers-USF game could still have an impact on the conference race as Rutgers 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big East while USF is 4-3 and 1-2.
College Football Predictions and Picks: Middle Tennessee State vs. Arkansas State Betting Odds
by Aaron Smith - 11/2/2010
College football action on ESPN2 will take place in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Tuesday at 7 p.m. EST. The Arkansas State Red Wolves will host their first nationally televised football game in the history of the program. The Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State will be the opponent in this Sun Belt Conference matchup. Both teams have had a bit of a disappointing year, but I would expect them to be ready for a game like this on a national stage.
College Football Picks: Missouri at Nebraska Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/30/2010
No. 8 Missouri heads to Lincoln on Saturday to face No. 12 Nebraska. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. for this critical Big 12 North showdown. The host Huskers are headed for the Big Ten next season so this will be the final game in what has bee one of the more unpredictable series in the history of the Big 12. Nebraska is presently a 7.5-point favorite.
College Football Picks and Predictions: West Virginia vs. Connecticut Betting Odds
by Aaron Smith - 10/29/2010
The Connecticut Huskies were expected to be among the best teams in the Big East this year, but it just hasn’t worked out that way. West Virginia looked like the class of the conference until last weekend’s shocking home loss at the hands of Syracuse. The Connecticut Huskies are searching for an identity, while West Virginia must put last week’s disappointment behind them and get back on track. This one will be on national television, so both teams should be fired up and ready to bring their best effort.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/28/2010
It was a slim winning week for the Ferringo 15, as our clubs went 6-5 for the week to turn an overall profit. That now makes these teams 29-24 ATS in the last three weeks that they have been posted in this section. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams a barely passable 42-36 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings. Remember: I’m not listing the 15 teams that I think will cover in a given week. This is just a list of 15 teams that I think present the best blend of immediate and long-term earning potential against the books, while also giving credit to teams for recent, past performances.
College Football Picks: Florida State at North Carolina State Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/28/2010
If this matchup seems rather familiar for a Thursday night in an even-numbered year, well, it should. This marks the fourth straight Thursday night meeting between the schools in Raleigh. FSU won 17-10 in 2004 and 26-17 in 2008, but lost 24-20 in 2006. For some reason FSU is always on the road in Thursday nighters. This is their ninth road game in 11 Thursday night games since 1983. Overall FSU is 7-4 in the 11.
Boise State Vs. TCU – Who Has the Upper-Hand in BCS Standings?
by T.O. Whenham - 10/26/2010
It was another tough weekend for undefeated teams in college football. Oklahoma fell in their first week atop the BCS rankings, and they were joined in the one-loss club by LSU and Oklahoma State. There are now just seven remaining unbeaten ranked teams. Two of those teams are particularly interesting to me. I’m a hopeless romantic, and I kinda like chaos, so the possibility of a Boise State vs. TCU BCS Championship Game, and the absolute mess that that would create, is something to dream about.
College Football Picks: Washington at Arizona Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/23/2010
As usual, we are here to preview the final NCAA game of the night on Saturday because, let’s face it, its bettors’ final chance to either avoid a loss to the day or simply add to their winnings. Both these teams enter the weekend in a four-way tie at 2-1 for second in the Pac-10 behind unbeaten Oregon.
College Football Predictions: South Florida vs. Cincinnati Betting Odds and Picks
by Aaron Smith - 10/22/2010
The Cincinnati Bearcats will be showcased for a second straight week on ESPN Friday night football. This week, Cincinnati will host the South Florida Bulls in an important Big East matchup. The Big East is still wide open, and Cincinnati certainly has the talent to be near the top of the conference. South Florida is still establishing their identity under Skip Holtz, but they would love nothing better than to upset Cincinnati on national television. There will be plenty of talent on both sidelines this Friday night.
Week 8 College Football Picks and Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 10/22/2010
Last week was a split week with these picks. On one hand Utah did what I thought they would do - looked very impressive in beating up on a totally outmatched Wyoming team. That big gain was offset by a tough and surprising loss - I was seduced by Nevada and their pistol offense, but they were outplayed by a Hawaii team that continues to surprise this year - and to reward those bettors who back them. With these Week 8 college football picks and odds I’ll look to replicate the success of the Utah pick while avoiding the frustration of the Nevada one.
Heisman Trophy Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/22/2010
I think that college football is the best sport there is. There are a lot of reasons for that, but one is because it changes so quickly. Every time you think you have everything figured out they play another week of games and everything gets turned upside down. Good teams don’t look so good anymore, top players falter, and we have to adjust our expectations time and again.
College Football Picks: UCLA at Oregon Betting Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/20/2010
Well, this looks like a massive blowout, right? After all, UCLA enters off a 35-7 loss to an average Cal team in which the Bruins’ 144 total yards were the fewest since they gained 114 against USC in 2001. Oregon, meanwhile, plays its first game ever as the nation’s top-ranked team and usually has 144 total yards by the end of the first quarter.
College Football Predictions: Free Picks from Strike Point Sports
by Strike Point Sports - 10/20/2010
The last couple of weeks in October have been particularly crazy in the world of college football. We’ve had consecutive weeks of the nation’s top team (AP and Coaches Polls) going down in defeat. Two weeks ago it was defending champs Alabama, who fell on the road to South Carolina. This past weekend it was the Buckeyes of Ohio State who crashed and burned in Madison to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Best and Worst Betting Teams Against College Football Lines
by T.O. Whenham - 10/20/2010
Here’s a look at the teams that have been very kind to bettors so far at the halfway point of the college football season, and the ones that have really struggled to reward bettors. All records are against the college football lines:
