by Aaron Smith - 11/10/2011

College Football Handicapping: Ranking the Conferences
by T.O. Whenham - 11/10/2011
We are more than halfway through conference play in college football. That means that we know a fair bit about what each conference is capable of, and what problems and limitations they face. That means it is a good time to make a reasonably accurate ranking of the strength of the major conferences for help with college football handicapping.
College Football Picks: Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/8/2011
It’s another all-ACC matchup on ESPN’s Thursday night NCAA football game this week, and it’s a good one from Atlanta when No. 20 Georgia Tech hosts No. 10 Virginia Tech with the winner likely to represent the Coastal Division in the ACC Championship Game against Clemson (the Tigers haven’t clinched yet but can with a home win over Wake Forest on Saturday).
College Football Handicapping: Best and Worst Against the Spread
by T.O. Whenham - 11/8/2011
As we head into the home stretch of the college football season it’s a good time to look at the teams that have been very kind to bettors, and those that have burned bettors’ money at an alarming pace. Here’s a look at the studs and duds of this season against the spread to help with your college football handicapping:
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 11
by David Schwab - 11/8/2011
With the regular season winding down, teams continue to jockey for position for the upcoming bowl season. Some teams like LSU are trying to secure a spot in the BCS title game, while others are just trying to win enough game to become bowl eligible. A good number of the teams in that latter group reside in the mid-major conferences, where each week there are always some solid plays on a few of these ‘under the radar’ games.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Rice Owls Week 10
by Aaron Smith - 11/3/2011
We’re back with the Week 10 edition of the mid-major betting report. This report focuses on the Rice Owls, who were selected at random before the beginning of the season. All year I’ll be following Rice beat writers, Twitter feeds of players and staff, and team press conferences to get every nugget of information out there about this Rice football team.
Doc's Sports Weekly Big Ten Football Betting Report
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 11/1/2011
Don’t look now, but Ohio State is playing the best football in the Big Ten. And things are about to get a whole lot easier for the Buckeyes. They are riding a two-game winning streak and a 10-game November winning streak dating back to 2007.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 10
by David Schwab - 10/31/2011
This week, all eyes are sure to be focused on the biggest game of the year when No.1 LSU takes on No.2 Alabama this Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. This is easily the most anticipated major conference matchup this week, but there are a couple of conference matchups in the mid-majors as well that bear watching as well.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Rice Owls Week 9
by Aaron Smith - 10/26/2011
We’re all the way to Week 9, and it is time for another edition of the mid-major betting report. This report comes a little earlier than normal this week, because the Rice Owls have a game on Thursday night this week. Before the season, Rice was picked at random as the team I’ll be following all season long. I’ll follow Twitter feeds, beat writers, and team press conferences to get every little bit of information possible about this team. This series is designed to show bettors that specialization can be profitable.
Doc's Sports Weekly Big Ten Football Betting Report
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 10/25/2011
The rollercoaster ride of a game that saw Michigan State trail by 14 in the first quarter, lead by 14 in the fourth quarter and wind up tied 31-31 with seconds left on the clock ended, appropriately enough, with an unconventional Hail Mary. With 76,405 in attendance anticipating overtime, Spartan quarterback Kirk Cousins launched up a prayer.

by Aaron Smith - 10/20/2011
The mid-major betting report is back for the Week 8 edition. This is a report that focuses on the Rice Owls, who were selected at random before the beginning of the season. Throughout the entire season I’ll be following the team’s press conferences, beat writers, and Rice Owls Twitter feeds to find every little bit of information about this team. The goal of this series is to help show bettors that specialization can be profitable. At the end of each report, I’ll make a selection on this week’s Rice Owls game. We will be using Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System for every pick, which will help readers follow along and track the results of these college football picks.
College Football Odds: West Virginia at Syracuse Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/19/2011
Syracuse will be facing new West Virginia Head Coach Dana Holgorsen for the first time on Friday night. In a twisted way it’s at least partly their fault that Bill Stewart is gone and Holgorsen is in charge. Last year when these Big East rivals met West Virginia was ranked 20th and was strongly favored to win the Big East.
Ramblings From A College Football Betting Junkie
by - 10/18/2011
This past Saturday certainly did the first edition of the 2011-12 BCS standings some justice. Prior to last weekend there were a slew of undefeated teams. Already you could hear grumblings in the background about how the number of potential perfect records at the end of the season might be disastrous for a potential title game, but equally ideal to push for a playoff.
Doc's Sports Weekly Big Ten Football Betting Report
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 10/18/2011
The Spartans made a number of statements on Saturday in East Lansing. They proved they can beat Michigan without the help of Rich Rodriguez. They proved their defense is legit and they vaulted to pole position in the Legends Division all via their 28-14 win over rival Michigan. The win means that the Spartan seniors went 4-0 against the Wolverines.
College Football Picks: UCLA at Arizona Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/18/2011
It’s the third week in a row the Pac-12 is featured on ESPN’s Thursday night telecast when unranked foes UCLA and Arizona meet in Tucson, the Cats’ first home game in almost a month. This will also be the first time Arizona takes the field since Head Coach Mark Stoops was fired.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Rice Owls Week 7
by Aaron Smith - 10/14/2011
College football’s regular season is just about halfway complete. It’s time for another edition of the mid-major betting report. This report focuses on the Rice Owls, who were selected at random before the season started. Doc’s Sports is all about finding that little extra edge on the books. I’ll be following the team’s press conferences, following players on Twitter, and reading reports from beat writers to find every little nugget of information about this team.
College Football Handicapping: Most Overrated Team In Each Conference
by T.O. Whenham - 10/13/2011
Last week I looked at the most overrated college football teams in the country. I was happy with my choices, though some other people clearly weren’t. This week I want to go a step further and look at the most overrated team in each of the six major conferences:
Ramblings From A College Football Betting Junkie
by - 10/12/2011
Were six weeks into the college football season and one of the most important questions in college football betting is still widely up for debate: Which team is the No. 1 squad in all the land? There are 13 teams that are still undefeated, but in my book just five are in discussion for that top spot.

Ohio State somehow found a way to be that loser despite holding a 27-6 lead in the second half. Quarterback Braxton Miller injured his ankle in the third quarter and was replaced by Joe Bauserman, who could do no right. Bauserman completed one pass to his team and one pass to Nebraska. His other eight passes fell incomplete. He threw for only 13 yards and helped Nebraska get back into the game.
College Football Picks: Michigan at Michigan State Odds and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/10/2011
It’s time for the annual battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. After six straight wins by the Wolverines in this series, the Spartans are riding a three-game winning streak. New Michigan Head Coach Brady Hoke faces a challenge here in overcoming history — the last five Michigan head coaches all lost the first game they played against Michigan State.
