Week 14 College Football Betting Line Movement
by CarbonSports - 11/27/2013
The BCS is a murky swamp right now filled with would-be contenders, championship hopefuls and a few pretenders. Questions abound as the Oregon Ducks continue to plummet in the rankings, while Clemson and South Carolina attempt to continue their late-season pushes towards the top of the BCS. However, nothing is bigger than the Iron Bowl game this weekend, which features two Top-5 teams. Let’s get to the line movement this week in college football betting.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 14
by Aaron Smith - 11/27/2013
It’s time for the Week 14 edition of the mid-major betting report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. After failing to become bowl eligible in its previous two games, the UNLV Rebels went on the road and beat Air Force to pick up their sixth win. I’ve been following the UNLV Rebels all year long to have a better understanding of this team. Bettors should consider closely following teams, because specialization is often one of the most profitable sports betting strategies.
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/26/2013
I have gone against Rutgers a number of times this season in my AAC ‘pick of the week,’ and this past Thursday that strategy paid off again for my biggest win of the year. No. 19 Central Florida came into that game as a 17-point home favorite over the Scarlet Knights and easily covered in a 41-17 victory that moved it one step closer to claiming the first-ever American Athletic Conference title.
Doc’s Sports Fourth Down and Inches
by Max Powers - 11/26/2013
Rivalry Week in college football is upon us, with many of the top teams in the nation squaring off against a familiar, and often hated, foe this weekend. The showdown at the top of this list is the annual Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn. This year’s game takes on some special meaning with a trip to SEC Championship Game on the line for both teams. The Crimson Tide come in ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings at 11-0, and the Tigers have vaulted to No. 4 behind a record of 10-1.
College Football Handicapping: Key Matchups Week 14
by Trevor Whenham - 11/25/2013
As we enter the last full week of the regular season in college football, the reality is that a lot of games just don’t matter very much. Teams can change their place in the standings a little, and maybe change where they will play a bowl game, but in meaningful ways the season is already finished.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/25/2013
This could be one of the most unique weeks in college football history, and it has nothing to do with what happens on the field. I'm talking about the accusations put forth against Florida State quarterback and Heisman front-runner Jameis Winston. The redshirt freshman has been spectacular, leading the nation with a QB rating of 194.5, and the Noles are beating teams by an average of 43.4 points per game.
Fringe BCS Championship Hopefuls Face Big NCAAF Betting Lines in Week 13
by CarbonSports - 11/21/2013
The Alabama-FSU championship match seems like a dream for most people, even though there are some people who would prefer to see either Baylor or Ohio State featured in the biggest game of the year. Right now the Seminoles have the inside track, and a cake walk schedule keeps them in the mix. How will the third-, fourth- and fifth-ranked teams do against double-digit spreads? Read on to find out.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 13
by Aaron Smith - 11/20/2013
It’s time for the 11th edition of the mid-major betting report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. UNLV has had two chances to become bowl eligible, but the Rebels lost close home contests back-to-back against San Jose State and Utah State. I’ll be keeping a close eye on press conferences from the program, beat writers, as well as Twitter feeds all season long. By becoming an expert on the UNLV Rebels, I hope to show how specialization is one of the most profitable sports betting strategies.
College Football Handicapping: Coaches on the Hot Seat
by Trevor Whenham - 11/20/2013
In the dying weeks of the college football regular season there are coaches who know that they don’t have much time left in their current job — when they season ends they will be fired. The fate of other coaches may not be as certain, but they are on unsteady ground and perhaps fighting a losing battle. Whether he is certain to be gone or just on shaky ground, the uncertainty can make things much tougher for the coach to command the attention of his team.
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/19/2013
The Central Florida Knights needed some late-game heroics to get past Temple this past Saturday to remain undefeated in conference play, but they are now just three wins away from claiming the first ever AAC title starting with this Thursday night’s game against Rutgers. I went with Cincinnati over the Scarlet Knights this past Saturday as my AAC pick of the week, and it paid off with a 52-17 romp by the Bearcats in a game that closed as a “pick”.
College Football Handicapping: Conference Races
by Trevor Whenham - 11/19/2013
We are getting down to the nitty-gritty in college football. None of the six conferences have decided their champions -- or which teams will be in the conference championship games -- just yet. The pictures are getting clear in most cases, though. By understanding the scenarios and what is on the line, bettors can have an edge.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead

Duke University playing in the ACC Championship Game? Basketball, sure that sounds right, but in football? It can't be. Yet there the Blue Devils are atop the ACC's Coastal Division and in control of their own destiny to play opposite Florida State in Charlotte for the conference's automatic BCS bowl berth (Noles probably at least a 24-point favorite if that happens).
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/12/2013
The much-anticipated shootout between Houston and No. 21 Central Florida as the premier matchup in the American Athletic Conference this past Saturday never materialized, but the Cougars did cover the 10.5-point spread on the road in a 19-14 loss. That game was also my AAC pick of the week for three units on Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System. I am now 8-3 on the year and +$1,710 on a $100/unit wager.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/11/2013
I've been watching college football since I was a very young kid, and I honestly can't remember ever seeing a Top-5 team so physically dominated at the line of scrimmage as Oregon's defense was on Thursday night in the Ducks' upset loss at Stanford.
College Football Handicapping: Baylor Bears
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2013
The Baylor Bears have been one of the best stories of this college football season. They haven’t lost, and they have scored points in bulk all year. They have scored 69 or more points in five of their eight outings, and the worst outing they have had all year still netted 35. They are as fun to watch as any team this year. They also have a chance to play for all the marbles.
College Football Handicapping: Teams off Short Weeks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2013
In the aftermath of the shocking destruction of Oregon by Stanford last Thursday night, people were left looking for explanations for the surprising outcome. Why did Oregon look and play much flatter than usual? One explanation I heard several times was that Oregon didn’t react well to the challenges of playing on a Thursday. That may be true to an extent, but the impact is certainly being understated — both teams had the previous weekend off, so they had had more time than normal to prepare for the game.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 11
by Aaron Smith - 11/7/2013
It’s time for the 10th edition of the weekly college football mid-major report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. UNLV had a chance to become bowl eligible with a win at home against San Jose State last week, but the Spartans held off UNLV, 34-24. The task doesn’t get any easier this week for the Rebels as they host a very good Utah State team. I’ll be keeping a close eye on press conferences from the program, beat writers, as well as Twitter feeds all season long. By becoming an expert on the UNLV Rebels,
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/5/2013
The two nationally-ranked big dogs in the American Athletic Conference (No. 20 Louisville and No. 21 Central Florida) had the week off, but both Houston and Cincinnati kept the conference title race tight with key victories in Week 10 of the college football season. I had Temple +11.5 points on the road as my AAC pick of the week, and the Owls easily covered in a 23-20 loss to Rutgers. This 3-unit play raised my year to date total to +15 units with the use of Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System for a current profit of $1,410 on a $100 wager.
2014 BCS National Championship Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 11/5/2013
There is still about a third of the regular season left to play in college football, and conference championship games as well. Barring a whole lot of upsets and unexpected excitement, though, we are down to six teams with a realistic chance at appearing in the final National Championship game of the BCS era. One controls their own destiny, two are in good position if they keep doing what they are doing, two need a whole lot of help, and we can’t yet evaluate how good the chances of the final team are.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/4/2013
Much like the Thursday night NFL games this season, college football's Thursday schedule has largely been a bore. That all changes this week in perhaps the best Thursday night schedule in years: No. 10 Oklahoma at No. 6 Baylor at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 and No. 3 Oregon at No. 5 Stanford on ESPN (all rankings BCS standings).
