NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 9/10/2014
Fading the Top 25 is back for the third week of the college football season. Week 2 was an awful week for the Big Ten once again. The Big Ten has taken a lot of heat in the media and among fans, and last weekend was an example of how far this once-mighty conference has fallen. Until something changes, the Big Ten deserves all the heat it is taking.
NCAA Football Handicapping: Teams Out of the Playoff Hunt
by Trevor Whenham - 9/10/2014
One of the interesting challenges of handicapping college football this year is that no one has ever seen the new playoff system in action, so we don’t know what to expect. We can look at what likely would have happened in past years as a guide, but we’ll only really know for sure what the impact will be once it has played out because every season is so different.
NCAA Handicapping: Big Ten Struggles in 2014
by Trevor Whenham - 9/10/2014
It has definitely been the worst of times for the Big Ten so far this season. It really couldn’t have gone much worse. First, Wisconsin came from ahead to lose to LSU and ignited a really odd quarterback story in the process when it was very unclear why Joel Stave wasn’t playing.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/9/2014
As I pointed out in my initial offering, the first month of the season is by the most difficult for our profit-power rankings because it is impossible to real know what you’re going to get out of teams – and subsequently what people expect out of them – until you see them play a couple games. But I expect a big bounce back this week and more success going forward.
College Football Betting Trends that Emerged in Week 2
by George Monroy - 9/9/2014
The second week of college football action was highlighted by a marquee Top 10 matchup between the No.3 Oregon Ducks and the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans. The matchup ended up in a rout as Oregon scored the last 28 points of the game and walked away with a 19-point victory. The magnitude of the win was immediately felt across the nation, and on Monday morning the Ducks bumped Alabama from the No. 2 spot in the rankings even though the Crimson Tide had a 41-point victory of their own.
NCAA Football Odds Week 3: Taking a Look at the Biggest Favorites on the Board
by George Monroy - 9/9/2014
The college football season isn’t even three weeks old yet, and already we have an interesting trend forming—large favorites are covering. NCAA football is known for its massive spreads, as evidenced by its two 50-plus-point lines during the first two weeks of action Betting on those lines can be a scary proposition for gamblers, because what incentive does a team have to win by 50 points, instead of 45, when the game goes deep into the fourth quarter?
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 3 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/8/2014
If you are a fan of the Big Ten in football, all I can say to you is my condolences. There will not be a Big Ten team in the first College Football Playoff. That's just fact after what happened this past weekend. Michigan State's defense was shredded at Oregon, but at least the Spartans didn't embarrass themselves. They played pretty well for a half.
Free College Football Pick for Thursday: Louisiana Tech vs. North Texas
by CarbonSports - 9/8/2014
We are already in Week 3 of the college football season and it kicks off with two great games on Thursday night. We've got a Conference USA matchup between Louisiana Tech and North Texas up first, while the undefeated BYU Cougars host Houston a little later on. Bettors will be looking to get down on these two games as the excitement for another full weekend of football action approaches, but I believe only the first one provides the best betting option for padding your bankroll.
Free College Football Pick for Friday Toledo vs. Cincinnati
by CarbonSports - 9/8/2014
In an odd scheduling quirk, this is actually the Bearcats first game of the season and you'd better believe they've been chomping at the bit to get on the field and get their season going. Cincinnati has spent two weeks watching everyone else hit the field while they've been stuck playing against one another the entire time and odds makers expect that extra rest will help the Bearcats win by double digits here.
College Football Mid-Major Betting Report: Akron Zips Week 2
by Aaron Smith - 9/4/2014
It’s Week 2 of the college football mid-major report. For the past three years, Doc’s Sports has been offering this weekly mid-major report. What’s the goal of this weekly article? The goal here is to try to show bettors that specialization is a profitable betting strategy. It’s a strategy many of the best bettors in the world use in many different sports. Since there are so many teams in college football, specialization is particularly relevant in this sport.
NCAA Football Picks and American Athletic Conference Week 2 Betting Report
by Dave Schwab - 9/3/2014
The AAC opened its second season of play last week, and while Temple probably pulled off the biggest upset by stunning Vanderbilt 37-7 as an 8.5-point road underdog after winning just two games all last year, I came up short on my ‘pick of the week’ when UCF lost to Penn State 26-24 as a two-point favorite in Dublin, Ireland.
NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 9/3/2014
Sometimes you are the hunter and sometimes you are the hunted. Unfortunately for the picks in this Fading the Top 25 series, it was the latter last weekend. Navy +16.5 absolutely should have cashed as they outplayed Ohio State for the majority of the game and actually led for more than half of the game. Ohio State scored two very late touchdowns to win by 17 points.
College Football Betting Trends that Emerged in Week 1
by George Monroy - 9/3/2014
The first weekend of college football came and went, and the biggest take away from the opening games was that the race to the national title is wide open. Many of the top-ranked teams struggled to cover their spreads and played games that turned out to be much closer than expected. However, three of the five largest favorites on the board (30 points or more) managed to cover their spreads, while the other two came tantalizingly close.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 9/2/2014
It was another brilliant start for the Ferringo 15, which went 11-4 the opening week of the season. However, two of those losses were actually to other teams in the F-15 (Cal-Northwestern and Georgia Southern –N.C. State). So the teams on our list actually went 9-2 against unique opponents, a fantastic 81.8 percent winning mark to start the year.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 2 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/1/2014
What an interesting first week of college football. Obviously it's way too early to read too much into things, but Florida State doesn't look all that invulnerable unless Oklahoma State is way better than we think. Alabama looks somewhat overrated, while Texas A&M appears underrated.
Free NCAA Football Pick for Monday Miami vs. Louisville
by CarbonSports - 9/1/2014
Bobby Petrino's second stint with the Louisville Cardinals begins tonight and he's got a tough act to follow. Charlie Strong coached this team to a 12-1 SU record last year on the back of QB Teddy Bridgewater's success and playing in a relatively soft Big East conference. The Cardinals do have plenty of returning starters this year, but as we've seen already this weekend, replacing a talented starting QB often comes with mixed results and typically takes time to get your football program rolling again.
Free College Football Picks for Saturday’s Full Lineup of Games
by CarbonSports - 8/29/2014
The first full Saturday of college football action is here and that means bettors are ready for all-day football action with 40+ games to choose from. Saturday CFB betting boards can be a bit intimidating to a new bettor, but if you do your homework and avoid the pitfall of trying to get action down on a ton of games, betting college football can be very profitable. I've gone through the first Saturday board of the season and have found two underdogs that are up against perennial powerhouses that should surprise many.
Colorado State vs. Colorado Free NCAA Football Pick for Friday
by CarbonSports - 8/29/2014
There's nothing like an in-state rivalry to get the college football season going as these two schools from Colorado open up the season against each other for the third straight season and seventh time in eight years. Last year's game was a 41-27 win for Colorado as three-point underdogs and it was the third time in four years that the Buffaloes got the better of the Rams in this rivalry.
