NCAA Football Picks and American Athletic Conference Week 11 Betting Report
by Dave Schwab - 11/5/2014
I went with Central Florida as an 11.5-point road favorite against Connecticut last Saturday as my AAC pick of the week, and not only did the Knights fail to cover, they actually lost that game to the Huskies 37-29 in a stunning turn of events in the conference title race. East Carolina also went down in defeat as a road favorite over Temple to further tighten up things up in the standings.
College Football Mid-Major Betting Report: Akron Zips Week 11
by Aaron Smith - 11/4/2014
Week 11 of the college football mid-major betting report is here. This is the fourth year Doc’s Sports has offered this report. The goal of this weekly article is to try to show bettors that specialization is a profitable betting strategy. It’s a strategy many of the top bettors in the world use. There are 128 FBS level teams in college football, so specialization is even more relevant in this sport.
NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 11/4/2014
For a fifth straight week, the Fading the Top 25 selections were profitable. In fact, last week those selections went 2-0. At the end of last week’s edition of this weekly article, I said that I didn’t want to push our luck here and force selections. That strategy ended up paying off. Temple beat East Carolina outright as the Pirates turnover problems killed them. Auburn beat Ole Miss outright as well, though that game certainly could have gone either way.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 11 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/3/2014
I think you can go ahead and put No. 2 Florida State in the four-team College Football Playoff now. The 2014 Seminoles are vastly more flawed than last year's dominant champions, but FSU passed its final major test last Thursday night, rallying from a 21-0 deficit to win 42-31 at Louisville. The Noles were saved right before halftime when Nick O'Leary recovered teammate Karlos Williams' fumble in the end zone to make it 21-7 and give FSU some momentum heading into the second half. If Louisville recovers that ball, I believe the Cardinals win. The Seminoles recorded 374 yards after halftime, more than Louisville had allowed in a full game.
Free College Football Pick for Thursday: Clemson vs. Wake Forest
by CarbonSports - 11/3/2014
Clemson and Wake Forest had last week off to prepare for this ACC showdown with the Demon Deacons looking to pull off the huge upset. Wake Forest hasn't beaten Clemson since 2008 (12-7) and in the five meetings since then they've been outscored 197-61. Blowout losses for Wake Forest have become the norm in this series with last year's 56-7 win for Clemson being the biggest of them all. But the Tigers aren't as good as they were a season ago and have really struggled to light up the scoreboard in their road contests this season.
Weekly Football Betting Public Action Report
by Trevor Whenham - 10/31/2014
After a few weeks of technical issues we are back on track this week with the Public Action Report. I don’t know about you, but I’ve missed it. We’re back strong with four interesting college football games this week. The Pac-12 is represented by two big games, we get some ACC action, and there is even an independent game to kick things off. As we move into November this is often when the Report is at its best, so here’s hoping history repeats itself.
NCAA Football Picks and American Athletic Conference Week 10 Betting Report
by Dave Schwab - 10/29/2014
Going against SMU this season has been a profitable proposition, and this past Saturday, in my biggest play of the season, I cashed in on a 5-Unit play in the Mustangs 48-10 loss to Memphis as 23-point home underdogs. I am now 5-4 on the year in my weekly AAC pick for Doc’s Sports for a return of +$330 on a $100 wager.
College Football Playoff: Taking a Look at the Initial Rankings and Odds
by George Monroy - 10/29/2014
Everyone already knew that dropping the BCS Bowl system in favor of a four-team playoff in college football wouldn’t solve all of the sport’s problems. Most fans and experts complain about snubs during the 68-team NCAA basketball tournament, so it was only inevitable that entire conferences would feel left out once the College Football Playoff selection committee released its first set of rankings after the ninth week of the season.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 10 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/28/2014
The new college football playoff committee's Top 25 will be released on Tuesday evening to great fanfare. Just think how angry most of the country will be if the SEC has three of the coveted Top-4 spots. It's quite possible. I think Mississippi State and Florida State are locks to be two of the Top 4 as they are the only Power 5 teams to remain unbeaten. After that your guess is as good as mine. I think it's safe to say that there will be one other SEC team at least in the Top 4, either Alabama, Auburn or Ole Miss.
NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 10/28/2014
For the fourth straight week, the Fading the Top 25 Selections were profitable last week. We continue to try to dig out of the hole created early in the year. Ole Miss was our lone loser last week. We cashed in on Tennessee plus the points as well as Syracuse plus the points. As a whole, the Top 25 went 9-11 ATS last week. Looking at this week’s schedule, there are quite a few Top 25 teams with a bye week. Still, there are a lot of high-quality Top 25 matchups on the slate.
Free College Football Pick for Thursday: Florida State vs. Louisville
by CarbonSports - 10/27/2014
Both of these teams in the ACC had last week off to watch things unfold, they are both back on the field to get things going this week. Florida State still hasn't lost a game since 2012, but they haven't looked impressive at all this season. The Seminoles are 7-0 SU but only 1-6 ATS this year and odds makers and bettors are taking notice. With all the potential sanctions swirling around QB Jameis Winston and some top-tier talent gone, Florida State isn't the dominant force they were a season ago and many believe they are extremely lucky to be entering this week with their #2 ranking. Should we be fading Florida State again this week against a new conference rival?
NCAA Football Picks and American Athletic Conference Week 9 Betting Report
by Dave Schwab - 10/22/2014
After coming up on the wrong end of my last three weekly picks for the AAC, I got back to my winning ways with the correct call in Cincinnati’s 41-3 dismantling of SMU as 14-point road favorite this past Saturday. I am now 4-4 on the year, but still in the red $170 with my unit plays using Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System.
Free College Football Pick for Thursday: Miami vs. Virginia Tech
by CarbonSports - 10/22/2014
Florida State might be running away with the ACC right now at 7-0 SU, but that's only in the Atlantic Division and they'll still have to get by the winner of the Coastal Division in the ACC title game to earn one of those four playoff berths. Miami and Virginia Tech are in the hunt in the Coastal right now with the loser of this week's game likely eliminated, so it is a big game for both programs.
College Football Mid-Major Betting Report: Akron Zips Week 9
by Aaron Smith - 10/22/2014
Week 9 of the college football mid-major betting report is here. This is the fourth year Doc’s Sports has offered this report. The goal of this weekly article is to try to show bettors that specialization is a profitable betting strategy. It’s a strategy many of the top bettors in the world use. There are 128 FBS level teams in college football, so specialization is even more relevant in this sport than just about anywhere else.
Free College Football Pick for Saturday: Ole Miss vs. LSU
by CarbonSports - 10/22/2014
The SEC is getting a lot of love these days with the two schools from Mississippi ranking #1 and #3 currently while Alabama (#4), Auburn (#5) and Georgia (#9) are other schools from the conference in the top-10. LSU is ranked as well at #24 with a 6-2 SU mark and they would love to boost their own rating with an upset win over Ole Miss this weekend.
NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 10/21/2014
Week 8 was a much better one for Top 25 teams. Teams in the AP Top 25 went 14-7 against the spread last week. The Fade the Top 25 Selections fared much better than you would expect by going 3-1 last week. Kansas State won outright, so that was a really strong pick. Boston College kept it close in a loss to Clemson to cover the number. Alabama rolled to a massive victory over an extremely overrated Texas A&M team.
NCAA Football Predictions: Week 9 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/20/2014
How ridiculous is the SEC West? In Monday's Associated Press poll that division has four teams in the Top 5. That's just silly and a first for any conference to hold down 80 percent of the Top 5. Mississippi State, which was off last week, remains at No. 1, with Ole Miss at No. 3, Alabama jumping three spots to No. 4 and Auburn moving up a spot to No. 5. I'm not sure Notre Dame deserved to drop from No. 5 to No. 7 after that thrilling loss at Florida State on Saturday.
College Football Mid-Major Betting Report: Akron Zips Week 8
by Aaron Smith - 10/15/2014
Week 8 of the college football mid-major betting report is here. This is the fourth year Doc’s Sports has offered this report. The goal of this weekly article is to try to show bettors that specialization is a profitable betting strategy. It’s a strategy many of the best bettors in the world use. NCAA Football Betting: Fading the Top 25 Weekly Free Picks
by Aaron Smith - 10/15/2014
Week 7 brought some more really bad results for the Top 25, and that’s good news for this experiment. The Top 25 as a whole did horribly against the number as you will see at the bottom of this report. In addition, our Week 7 selections went 3-1. USC won by two, so they will be counted as a loss on the picks record, but the Trojans actually covered the spread for late bettors since late money came in on Arizona.
Handicapping the Remaining Unbeatens in College Football
by Trevor Whenham - 10/14/2014
Through seven weeks of the college football season there are just six teams that have yet to suffer a loss. By this time next week we are going to be down to no more than five because Notre Dame and Florida State meet. If the two surprise schools from Mississippi make it through 11 games without a loss — which is far from a certainty in both cases — then one will lose their season-ending showdown that could cause the entire state to implode.
