American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/12/2013
The much-anticipated shootout between Houston and No. 21 Central Florida as the premier matchup in the American Athletic Conference this past Saturday never materialized, but the Cougars did cover the 10.5-point spread on the road in a 19-14 loss. That game was also my AAC pick of the week for three units on Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System. I am now 8-3 on the year and +$1,710 on a $100/unit wager.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/11/2013
I've been watching college football since I was a very young kid, and I honestly can't remember ever seeing a Top-5 team so physically dominated at the line of scrimmage as Oregon's defense was on Thursday night in the Ducks' upset loss at Stanford.
College Football Handicapping: Baylor Bears
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2013
The Baylor Bears have been one of the best stories of this college football season. They haven’t lost, and they have scored points in bulk all year. They have scored 69 or more points in five of their eight outings, and the worst outing they have had all year still netted 35. They are as fun to watch as any team this year. They also have a chance to play for all the marbles.
College Football Handicapping: Teams off Short Weeks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2013
In the aftermath of the shocking destruction of Oregon by Stanford last Thursday night, people were left looking for explanations for the surprising outcome. Why did Oregon look and play much flatter than usual? One explanation I heard several times was that Oregon didn’t react well to the challenges of playing on a Thursday. That may be true to an extent, but the impact is certainly being understated — both teams had the previous weekend off, so they had had more time than normal to prepare for the game.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 11
by Aaron Smith - 11/7/2013
It’s time for the 10th edition of the weekly college football mid-major report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. UNLV had a chance to become bowl eligible with a win at home against San Jose State last week, but the Spartans held off UNLV, 34-24. The task doesn’t get any easier this week for the Rebels as they host a very good Utah State team. I’ll be keeping a close eye on press conferences from the program, beat writers, as well as Twitter feeds all season long. By becoming an expert on the UNLV Rebels,
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 11/5/2013
The two nationally-ranked big dogs in the American Athletic Conference (No. 20 Louisville and No. 21 Central Florida) had the week off, but both Houston and Cincinnati kept the conference title race tight with key victories in Week 10 of the college football season. I had Temple +11.5 points on the road as my AAC pick of the week, and the Owls easily covered in a 23-20 loss to Rutgers. This 3-unit play raised my year to date total to +15 units with the use of Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System for a current profit of $1,410 on a $100 wager.
2014 BCS National Championship Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 11/5/2013
There is still about a third of the regular season left to play in college football, and conference championship games as well. Barring a whole lot of upsets and unexpected excitement, though, we are down to six teams with a realistic chance at appearing in the final National Championship game of the BCS era. One controls their own destiny, two are in good position if they keep doing what they are doing, two need a whole lot of help, and we can’t yet evaluate how good the chances of the final team are.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/4/2013
Much like the Thursday night NFL games this season, college football's Thursday schedule has largely been a bore. That all changes this week in perhaps the best Thursday night schedule in years: No. 10 Oklahoma at No. 6 Baylor at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 and No. 3 Oregon at No. 5 Stanford on ESPN (all rankings BCS standings).
NCAA Football Betting Line Movers: Miami-FSU Tilt Stable
by CarbonSports - 10/31/2013
If the No.7 Miami Hurricanes really want to shock the NCAA football betting world, they’ll outright defeat the No.3 FSU Seminoles on Sunday when they pay their in-state rivals a visit on Saturday as massive underdogs. Don’t underestimate how heated this game is for everyone involved. Jameis Winston’s Heisman hopes hang in the balance as well as Miami’s hopes of crashing the BCS party. While the upstart Canes may not have a chance of playing for the National Championship, they could absolutely spoil FSU’s title hopes by making this game a challenge.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 9
by Aaron Smith - 10/31/2013
It’s time for the ninth edition of the weekly college football mid-major report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. UNLV got its biggest win in a long time last weekend when they went to Nevada and took down the Wolfpack to win the Fremont Cannon. A win on the road over an opponent that has dominated them in the recent past was huge for this team.
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 10/28/2013
It has become a three-way race to the first ever American Athletic Conference crown between No. 19 Louisville, No. 23 Central Florida and the surprising Houston Cougars. I had the Cougars as my AAC pick of the week, and they did not disappoint in a 49-14 romp over Rutgers as eight-point road underdogs. This 4-Unit pick raised my year to date total to +12 units with the use of Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System for a current profit of $1,110 on a $100/per unit wager.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 10/28/2013
If you like chalk, then Week 9 of the college football season was for you. BCS No. 1 Alabama beat Tennessee by 35. No. 2 Florida State rolled NC State 49-17 in a game that could have been much worse. No. 3 Oregon blew open a tie game with UCLA and won, 42-14. No. 4 Ohio State demolished Penn State, 63-14.
NCAA Football Betting Lines To Watch In Week 9
by CarbonSports - 10/24/2013
What causes any of the NCAA football betting lines in our sportsbook to move? It’s simple – money. If the gambling community starts leaning hard in one direction, the line moves away from them. For underdogs, action generated drags them closer to the middle, while for favorites it inflates their handicap. Below I discuss five NCAA football betting matchups in Week 9 that have notable line movement. In one of the matchups, it’s the lack of movement that’s caught my attention.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 9
by Aaron Smith - 10/24/2013
The eighth edition of the college football mid-major betting report is here. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. After four straight wins, UNLV was humbled last week in Fresno. The Bulldogs controlled the game throughout. Can UNLV respond and get back on track to fight toward a bowl berth? I’ll be keeping a close eye on press conferences from the program, beat writers, as well as Twitter feeds all season long. By becoming an expert on the UNLV Rebels, I hope to show how specialization is one of the most profitable sports betting strategies.
American Athletic Conference Weekly Betting Report (Plus Free Pick)
by Dave Schwab - 10/22/2013
The Central Florida Knights completely upset the apple cart this past Friday night in the chase to the first ever American Athletic Conference title by stunning then-No. 8 Louisville 38-35 on a last-second score as 14-point underdogs on the road. My AAC pick of the week missed the mark with Temple beating Army, but I am still up eight units on the year for a profit of $710 with the use of Doc’s Sports Unit Betting System. My goal is to deliver a $1000 profit on my AAC picks over the course of the entire season.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 10/21/2013
The first of the last season of BCS standings were released on Sunday, and of course we have controversy. Oregon has been No. 2 in the polls for weeks, but the Ducks are No. 3 in the BCS behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Florida State. I wouldn't get too worried yet, Oregon fans.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: UNLV Rebels Week 8
by Aaron Smith - 10/17/2013
It’s time for seventh edition of the weekly college football mid-major betting report. This year the team in focus is the UNLV Rebels. UNLV won its fourth straight game last weekend. The Rebels did it in dramatic fashion. UNLV had won a total of four games in the past two years, and now they have won four straight! The schedule gets tougher from here, so we’ll see if the Rebels can keep it going. I’ll be keeping a close eye on press conferences from the program, beat writers, as well as Twitter feeds all season long.
NCAA Football Betting: Road Teams with Week 8 Value
by CarbonSports - 10/16/2013
A hailstorm fell upon the NCAA football betting world last weekend, and there’s more to come. I have five road teams worth backing listed below, including the showdown between Clemson and FSU, which tees off Saturday night in prime time. Are you ready for the big lights of the big stage? Then let’s make some money with these picks.
College Football Handicapping: Another Week for Underdogs?
by Trevor Whenham - 10/15/2013
After a straightforward start to the college football season, things went a little crazy last weekend, and the big upsets rained down on adoring college football fans. Most shocking, perhaps, was Utah shutting down Stanford. Missouri’s convincing win over Georgia — even after QB James Franklin was injured — was also impressive. Very few guessed that the implosion would be halted in Texas and they would beat up on their rivals from Oklahoma. Northwestern was the ranked team, but they were humiliated by Wisconsin.
NCAA Football Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 10/14/2013
The ACC hasn't had a team play for the National Championship since the 2000 season when Florida State was beaten 13-2 by Oklahoma in a totally crappy game. Shoot, Miami, Boston College and Virginia Tech were still in the Big East back then. That's why it's pretty fair to say that this week's matchup between No. 3 Clemson and No. 5 FSU may be the biggest game in ACC football history. It certainly is this century.
