2024 College Football National Championship Futures Odds with Expert Betting Predictions
by Mike Allen - 11/7/2024
On Tuesday evening, not long after the passing of the NFL trade deadline, the inaugural College Football Championship Rankings were revealed, and there aren't a ton of surprises or glaring differences from the AP Poll. At 9-0 and first place in the Big Ten, Oregon sits atop the field. They aren’t the only remaining undefeated team, though.

by Joey House - 11/5/2024
With half (or more) of the college football season in the rearview, now is the time to earnestly start handicapping the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Even though there is still much football to be played, some expert analytical work and handicapping can reveal a ton of value in your futures wagering.
College Football Playoff: Odds and Best Bets to Make 12-Team Field
by Mike Allen - 10/31/2024
We haven't even experienced our first College Football Playoff, and it already has a March Madness feel to it. We obviously have quite a ways to go before that, but nobody can argue that a 12-team college football playoff is long overdue. I read this morning that if the season ended now, and the BCS was still in place, the championship game would be between Penn State and Oregon. That’s an interesting matchup. However, why stop at just one meaningful postseason game when you can add several more?
College Football Predictions: Week 10 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 10/29/2024
We had a solid week to close out the month of October, going 2-1. Boise State earned its most challenging victory of the season, winning (and covering) 29-24 against the UNLV Rebels as a 3.5-point favorite. The Broncos are 6-1 SU/5-2 ATS on the season. BYU went on the road and grabbed a convincing 37-24 victory as a 2.5-point road dog. That victory kept them a perfect 8-0 SU and a stellar 7-1 ATS. Our
College Football Predictions: Week 9 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 10/22/2024
The adage "The early bird gets the worm" can also be true in sports betting. Early lines can offer value as bookmakers set a line that they think will generate action, not necessarily what they think the final spread should be. Doc's recognizes the importance of early value and gives you two "Opening Line Reports," one for the NFL and this weekly edition that covers college. Whatever your football preference is, Doc's Sports has you covered.
College Football Predictions: Week 8 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 10/15/2024
The arrival of Week 8 brings us to the halfway point of the College Football season. The only thing outpacing the 2024 college football season whirlwind is Florida State's light-speed plummet from the spotlight to the shadows. Bedlam didn't reign this past week like it did when Vanderbilt upset Alabama two Saturdays ago, as Utah was the only ranked team to lose to someone outside the Top 25, falling to Arizona State 27-19.
College Football Predictions: Week 7 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 10/8/2024
After a relatively non-eventful nonconference section of the season (unless you're a Notre Dame fan), it did not take long for the madness to descend upon the college football world once conference play started. Of the 26 games with more than a touchdown spread, seven underdogs won outright, with a .269 winning percentage.
College Football Predictions: Week 6 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 10/1/2024
Welcome to Doc's College Football Opening Line Report, where we examine the schedule and odds of the upcoming week in college football and give you our first impressions. Even though it seems like yesterday we were anxiously awaiting the first week of college football; we are now looking at games for the first weekend in October. We were on our way to a perfect 4-0 record when Oregon and UCLA decided to stop scoring in the second half of their game.
College Football Predictions: Week 5 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 9/23/2024
Welcome back to the 5th week of the college football opening line report, where we look ahead to the upcoming slate of college games and give you an early lean toward sides and totals. A 4th-quarter Kansas collapse kept us from going 3-1 and made us break even at 2-2. Our year-to-date record is hovering around .500, at 4-5.
College Football Predictions: Week 4 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 9/16/2024
It's Week 4 of the Opening Line Report, and congratulations are in order for all of the bettors who took the under 9.5 for Florida State's win total. With their third consecutive loss last weekend, this one to the Memphis Tigers, Florida State can only reach nine victories. The most exciting competition in the state of Florida is betting on which head coach gets fired first.
College Football Totals Picks Week 3: Over or Under Predictions for Saturday
by Joey House - 9/13/2024
Welcome back to Week 3 of the College Football Totals Tracker, where we analyze the totals market for the upcoming games and give out our selections and best bets. For the second consecutive week, we showed a small profit in units. Our picks went 2-2, but the winners were a five- and four-unit selection, while the losers were both four-units, thus giving us a small 0.2-unit profit. We won't be able to retire to the beach with that, but it doesn't drain our bankroll, either. After two weeks, we're up 3.8 units.
College Football Underdogs Week 3: Moneyline Best Bets
by Joey House - 9/12/2024
We're back with the third edition of the "Dawg Pound," where we look for underdogs of a touchdown or more who we feel have a chance of not only covering the spread but winning outright. Tulane took the lead in the first quarter and had a 10-point advantage at halftime before allowing Kansas State's defense to have a strip-and-score for the go-ahead touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. The Green Wave lost but covered the 9-point spread, 34-27. Marshall's trip to Blacksburg wasn't a happy one, losing 31-14 to Virginia Tech, but they did cover the 20.5-point line. Navy dominated Temple, 38-11, and easily covered the 12.5-point spread.
Weekly Public Action Football Betting Report with Predictions 9/11/2024
by Joey House - 9/11/2024
We're back for Week 3 of the Public Action Report, where we track reverse line moves in college and, starting this week, pro football odds. For those unfamiliar, a reverse line move is one in which the spread moves in the opposite direction of the betting market, often indicating "smart money" coming in on the opposite side. This insight can be valuable in your never-ending battle against the sportsbook.
College Football Predictions: Week 3 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Joey House - 9/9/2024
Welcome to Week 3 of the College Football Opening Line Report, where we look at the upcoming week of college football and identify early lines that might be vulnerable. Our humble apologies for the absence last week; we had personal issues arise. To recap our first week's worth of picks, we went 2-1, as North Dakota State easily covered against Colorado, as did Oklahoma State against FCS South Dakota State.
College Football Totals Picks Week 2: Over or Under Predictions for Saturday
by Joey House - 9/6/2024
Welcome to the second edition of our weekly college football totals best bets article. Last week, we were a solid 2-1 for a profit of 3.6 units. We nailed the bit 5-unit under 51.5 in the Penn State-West Virginia game when inclement weather delayed the game over 2 hours, slowing down a West Virginia offense that looked like they were gaining momentum. Our 3-unit win was by the hook, as the Akron-Ohio State game ended 52-6, and the total was 58.5.
College Football Underdogs Week 2: Moneyline Best Bets
by Joey House - 9/6/2024
Welcome to Week 2 of the "Dawg Pound," where we look for big underdogs in the college football slate that we feel have untapped value. We had a helluva ride last week, as North Dakota State and Central Arkansas had leads in the second half. Central Arkansas actually scored the go-ahead touchdown with 52 seconds left before they allowed Arkansas State to drive the length of the field and score the winning touchdown with 3 seconds left.
Weekly Public Action Football Betting Report with Predictions
by Joey House - 9/5/2024
Welcome to Week Two of the Football Betting Public Action Report. We analyze the lines for the upcoming football games each week, looking for "reverse line movement." A reverse line move is one in which the spread moves in the opposite direction of the betting market, often indicating "smart money" coming in on the opposite side.
College Football Totals Picks Week 1: Over or Under Predictions for Saturday
by Joey House - 8/30/2024
Welcome back to "Totally Totals" (what can I say, I'm a child of the 80s), where we dive into the world of college football totals and give you a handful of carefully selected plays each week. Our inaugural season was a mild success, as we went 17-15-2 (53.2%) and a profit of 5.7 units. The beginning of the 2023 season saw us jump to a fantastic start, going 8-5 and up 12.3 units over our first three weeks. Like many teams during a long season, we hit a brick wall a little over halfway through and gave much of our profit back. However, like any true champion, we rebounded nicely and went 4-2, winning 5.2 units.
Weekly Public Action Football Betting Report with Predictions
by Joey House - 8/30/2024
Welcome back to this year's edition of the Football Betting Public Action Report. Monitoring the odds market is an essential tool in the sports investor's arsenal of weapons. Having the ability to understand where the "sharp" money is going can help you in two different ways: it can allow you to find trends that can be exploited in slower-moving books and, just as importantly, help you identify situations where you can prevent yourself from making a bad wager.
2024 Big Ten Football Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 8/29/2024
Bigger is better. Now, most of us are educated, experienced, or at least conditioned enough to know that is not always true. But sometimes it is! And when looking at the new 18-team Big Ten, it is tough to argue that this conference isn’t currently its best self. As much fun as it has been to watch teams like Iowa and Wisconsin slog their way through 10-6 slugfests over the years, an injection of high-end programs from the formerly-rival-now-defunct Pac-12 has definitely added some sizzle to the Big Ten’s steak.
