MLB Series Odds with Expert Picks and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 7/9/2015
Betting on the series price odds can sometimes offer some great value once you start digging into the stats and betting trends for the overall three-game matchup. The following are my top bets to cash in on these series price betting odds for three very intriguing head-to-head division showdowns.

I'm not sure why Phillies GM Ruben Amaro still has a job -- he definitely won't when this season is over. Amaro held on to his veterans way too long instead of trading them when they still had some value. For example, former All-Star second baseman Chase Utley would have had some value last season. This year none. He hasn't played since June 22 due to injury and is hitting only .179.
Betting Odds and MLB Free Picks for Team Props for Wednesday
by Dave Schwab - 7/8/2015
The MLB schedule for this Wednesday night features a number of great matchups, and MyBookie has added even more action to the slate by releasing a number of team prop odds in conjunction with the games. I have dug down deep into the stats, facts and betting trends for all of these team props to uncover a few picks where teams should be able to capitalize on current form and overall performance as compared to the betting odds on the board.

Interesting night for Cubs lefty pitcher Jon Lester on Monday against the Cardinals. He took a no-hitter into the seventh inning but ended up taking the loss, allowing two runs and two hits in seven innings. But Lester likely won't remember his pitching line from Monday but the fact he finally got a hit, in his 67th career regular-season at-bat. With two outs and two men on base in a 0-0 game in the bottom of the second, Lester hit an 0-2 pitch back at Cardinals pitcher John Lackey before the ball hit Lackey's leg and bounced near shortstop Jhonny Peralta, who had no play.
Tracking the Nationals: MLB Picks and Handicapping for Washington Baseball
by Dave Schwab - 7/2/2015
All season long I have been exclusively handicapping the Washington Nationals in an effort to show that specialization when it comes to betting on MLB games can be a viable strategy. I have also been backing this up with free weekly picks for selective games with the use of Doc's Sports Unit Betting System. The ultimate goal of this exercise is to build a profitable MLB bankroll by hitting these unit plays.

The All-Star Game voting closes on Thursday night, so it's your last chance to vote online (sad you can't in the ballparks any longer). It looks like the Royals are doing to dominate the American League team as five of their guys led the last update on Monday. I don't have a huge problem with four of them, but second baseman Omar Infante might be the worst All-Star ever if he holds onto his lead over Houston's Jose Altuve. Come on Astros fans!

Are you a fan of the Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game? I think it has gotten stale, but it's also all that goes on that Monday in the sports world. Apparently baseball wanted to spice things up for the Derby as new rules have been unveiled, and I rather like it.

If I were to tell you that the Los Angeles Angels had an AL MVP candidate this season, obviously you would think of reigning MVP Mike Trout. But have you seen what three-time NL MVP Albert Pujols has been up to lately? Entering Wednesday, he's hitting a very nice .277 with 23 homers (first in AL) and 47 RBIs, while ranking second in the AL in slugging (.581). In June, Pujols is batting .355 with 12 homers and 24 RBIs and clearly will win the league's hitter of the month award.

Feel like I have to talk about the latest Pete Rose news. Am I surprised that it has come to light that he did indeed bet on baseball games while a player as well? Absolutely not. Pete lied when he said at first he didn't bet as a manager before finally being caught in that. The only thing that surprises me is that it took this many years to get documented proof.

One viable betting strategy for MLB games can be specializing on just one team. To put this theory to the test, I have been exclusively handicapping the Washington Nationals all season long and releasing free picks for select games with the use of Doc's Sports Unit Betting System. The ultimate goal is to build a profitable MLB bankroll with these unit plays.

The Phillies are caught between a rock and hard place with ace Cole Hamels. He was supposed to start Friday but was scratched with a hamstring injury. Do you put Hamels on the disabled list, thus costing him a few starts to potentially impress scouts -- the Phils absolutely want to trade him -- or do you let him pitch through it and risk a potential serious injury to your top asset?

Specialization on just one team when wagering on MLB games can be a viable betting strategy, and to put this theory to the test I will continue to exclusively handicap the Washington Nationals all season long. I will also be putting some money behind my efforts with free picks for select Washington games with the use of Doc's Sports Unit Betting System. The ultimate goal is to build a profitable MLB bankroll with these unit plays.
MLB World Series Odds for Current Division Leaders
by Trevor Whenham - 6/18/2015
There are currently exactly six division leaders in baseball. There are six divisions. I should have warned you that we were starting off this article with rocket science. What we can be all but certain of is that not all six of these teams will be division leaders - or even wild-card teams - by the end of the season. Some of these teams will be, though. So, which teams are which? Here's a look (odds to win the World Series are from Bovada):

A few weeks ago, I figured the Chicago Cubs would be the St. Louis Cardinals' main competition for the NL Central title. Maybe it still will be the Cubs if they add a starting pitcher. But for now it looks like it will be red-hot Pittsburgh. Entering Thursday's interleague finale, the Bucs have won seven straight and 20 of 25 to cut the Cards' lead over them about in half.
MLB Handicapping Advice: Betting on the Toronto Blue Jays
by Trevor Whenham - 6/18/2015
This article is a couple of days too late, really. A couple of games back the Jays were on an 11-game winning streak and were on top of the world. Since then they have lost two games but then stopped the bleeding emphatically by pounding the Mets 8-0 on Wednesday night. They are 12-2 in their last 14 and a much better team now than they were a couple of weeks back.
MLB Handicapping: Boston Red Sox Struggling Against High Expectations
by Trevor Whenham - 6/18/2015
Leading into the season, the Red Sox were 12/1 to win the World Series. Now they are at 33/1, and that seems like a horrible price without an ounce of value. Really, that sums up the whole season for the Red Sox. Despite a very rough season last year, they came into this season riding high expectations. They had thrown around a lot of money, made some big changes, and everyone expected them to again be dominant - or at least atop their division.
MLB Betting Advice and Handicapping: Totals Trends Report
by Aaron Smith - 6/17/2015
We are about a month until the All-Star Game in Cincinnati, and I expect a lot of movement in the standings between now and then. This is usually the time of the year when the pretenders start fading away and the best teams make their runs. The Minnesota Twins have started their slide, and it's unlikely they'll be able to bounce back to contend in the AL Central. Paul Molitor is doing a really good job with this Twins team, but they simply don't have enough talent to contend for an entire season.

Everyone knows we are in the era of specialized pitching right now, and that has led to teams scoring at some of the worst rates since the mound was lowered and strikeouts are way, way up. If you like offense these days, you are generally out of luck. That's what made Tuesday such an unusual night. There was offense everywhere. The Orioles clobbered the Phillies 19-3 and hit eight homers in the process (two shy of big-league record).

While many Cubs fans may still be celebrating the Blackhawks' third Stanley Cup in the past six years from Monday night's Game 6 win over Tampa Bay, there's another reason for Cubs fans to get excited. The team is calling up its top prospect -- now that Kris Bryant and Addison Russell are already big leaguers -- in catcher Kyle Schwarber on Tuesday.
