MLB Odds and Predictions: Tigers at White Sox Series Picks
by Alan Matthews - 4/12/2012
Yes, I know there may be better series than the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox this weekend. There’s the four-game set between the Tampa Bay Rays and the desperate 1-5 Red Sox that concludes with the annual morning Patriot’s Day start on Monday that coincides with the Boston Marathon. And you also have the Los Angeles Angels visiting the New York Yankees for three games – those were the two preseason American League favorites, although they have slipped slightly behind Detroit for the AL pennant now.
MLB Handicapping: Braves and Red Sox Share Same Downward Trajectory
by Robert Ferringo - 4/12/2012
The Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves are now joined by something more than their mutual hatred for everything New York. After their epic 2011 September failures the two organizations are now seemingly bound together by a shared distress and ineptitude in this young 2012 Major League Baseball season.
MLB Handicapping: Early Impressions
by T.O. Whenham - 4/12/2012
It’s far too early to draw any meaningful conclusions from the baseball season so far. Sample sizes are very small, so statistics are almost meaningless. While I don’t want to get too excited about some teams, or too negative about others, there are some first impressions that stand out from what I have seen so far. Here are five things that have caught my eye, and which could have significant baseball handicapping implications going forward:
MLB Picks: Rays vs. Tigers Series Odds and Predictions
by Darin Zank - 4/9/2012
Two teams that opened their seasons with series sweeps over the weekend meet when the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers play a three-game series at Comerica Park beginning Tuesday afternoon. Both Tampa and Detroit made the playoffs last year, and both teams are off to good starts this year. And if you like watching good pitching, you might want to tune in to this series.
MLB Odds and Predictions: Yankees at Rays Series Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 4/5/2012
There are only two series on baseball’s opening weekend that feature matchups of 2011 playoff teams: Yankees at Rays and Cardinals at Brewers. But the Yanks and Rays appear much more likely to return to the postseason than perhaps the Cards and Brewers, who lost Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder, respectively. Although, to be fair, the AL East is way stronger than the NL Central, so maybe it’s a crapshoot – plus that extra Wild Card in each league changes things. But regardless, let’s take a look at the Yankees-Rays series.
2012 MLB Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 4/5/2012
Bring on the Spring. The weather is getting warmer and that means shorter skirts and longer days. Some bettors need to regroup after waging a costly winter war with the sportsbooks. But others, who were able to brave and thrive through the heart of the gambling season, are ready to turn their focus to the seven-month endurance trial that is the MLB betting season.
MLB Prop Betting: The Last Team to Lose Predictions
by Darin Zank - 4/5/2012
One of the more intriguing baseball proposition bets I've stumbled across in recent days comes from TopBet, which is offering prices on which team will stand as the last undefeated outfit in baseball this season. One by one teams will be eliminated the moment they taste defeat. The trick to cashing in on this prop, I think, is to find a team with a good starting rotation and good bullpen, and with a favorable early schedule.
Bold Baseball Predictions for the 2012 MLB Season
by T.O. Whenham - 4/5/2012
It seems to be a foregone conclusion to most that the Rangers will make the playoffs. I obviously won’t rule it out entirely — they have a lot of talent. I just have a feeling that it isn’t going to go as planned. I have some concerns in the field — Adrian Beltre, and durability in several other cases. My biggest concern, though, is with the rotation. C.J. Wilson is going to be missed sorely.
MLB Odds and Predictions: Red Sox vs. Tigers Series Picks
by Darin Zank - 4/4/2012
Baseball bettors can finally rejoice; The “true” Opening Day has arrived. And to start things off we get a matchup of American League playoff contenders as the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers get together for a three-game series at Comerica Park starting Thursday afternoon.
First MLB Manager Fired in 2012 Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 4/4/2012
There were four managerial changes during the 2011 Major League Baseball season, but only one manager was officially fired. Guys like the Nationals’ Jim Riggleman (team wouldn’t extend his contract) and the Marlins’ Edwin Rodriguez (he quit before he could get fired) resigned. And White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen actually was let out of his contract and “traded” to the Marlins with a few days left in the regular season.
Early Season Value Betting MLB Baseball
by Doc's Sports - 4/3/2012
This is Wade from Doc’s Sports, please take just 3 minutes and read this important message which I feel will help us have one of our most profitable betting sessions ever. The key is early season value. “He who hesitates is lost.”
MLB Season Win Totals: Last-Minute Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 4/3/2012
We are almost at the start of the baseball season. You’ve probably looked at the regular season MLB season win totals predictions that have been posted already. Let’s take one last look at them before the season starts, though, to see if what we have seen so far this spring has changed anything (all odds are from Bovada):
MLB Season Props Betting: Individual Totals Predictions for Baseball Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 4/3/2012
Bovada has listed a huge number of individual player totals for the impending Major League Baseball season. Whole many bettors do not like to tie up their money for a whole season, these MLB props odds offer a lot of value because of the low volume. Bookies just don’t spend a lot of time on these. Here are 10 of the most interesting with some betting predictions:
2012 MLB Predictions: Five Teams Oddsmakers will Undervalue
by Aaron Smith - 3/30/2012
Betting on baseball is quite a bit different than betting on any other sport. The season lasts for more than six months, so it is clearly a grind. Baseball handicappers need to be wise when it comes to money management. Successfully wagering on baseball depends largely on finding value. If you are good at finding value in MLB odds, you will be a successful MLB bettor.
MLB Predictions: 2012 AL and NL MVP Award Props Odds
by Alan Matthews - 3/30/2012
At the start of the 2011 Major League Baseball season, my pick for the American League MVP winner for the season was the Yankees’ Mark Teixeira, and in the NL it was Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder. Well, that wasn’t so prescient. Teixeira had another very solid season with 39 homers and 111 RBI, but that .248 batting average isn’t going to win you any MVP awards.
2012 MLB Regular-Season Hitting Props with Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 3/29/2012
In case you missed it, and judging by ratings and overall lack of interest you did, the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season has begun, with the two of the expected worst teams in the American League, Seattle and Oakland, splitting two games in Japan. Now they come back and play a few more exhibition games before resuming their series in Oakland next Friday. Does it make any sense to play real games and then go back to Spring Training? No, but that’s an argument for another day.
MLB Handicapping Tips: Do’s and Don’ts of First Month Betting
by Aaron Smith - 3/28/2012
Spring Training is winding down and Opening Day is just around the corner. Oakland and Seattle started the regular season in Japan this morning, but the majority of teams start on either April 4 or April 5. America’s favorite pastime might not be as popular as it once was, but there is still something about Opening Day that really grabs your attention.
2012 MLB Predictions: AL Central Outlook and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/27/2012
On the one hand, the AL Central looks to be the worst division in baseball, mainly because three of the eight worst team ERAs in baseball last year rest within it. On the other hand, at least the lack of quality pitching – outside of Detroit’s Justin Verlander – could make for some exciting, high-scoring games in what has become a pretty boring, low-scoring sport in the post-steroid era.
MLB Handicapping: the Oakland vs. Seattle Japan Series
by T.O. Whenham - 3/27/2012
The baseball season is getting off to an abnormally early start this year. The season in North America doesn’t start until April 4 when the Miami Marlins show off their new name and their new building. Before then, though, Oakland and Seattle will play two games in Japan on March 28 and 29. Thanks to the time zone the games will be played very early in the morning in North American time.
2012 MLB Predictions: NL West Outlook and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/26/2012
With 14 unique division winners in the last 17 seasons, the National League West is one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball. Last year the Arizona Diamondbacks pulled off a stunning worst-to-first finish – the third time they have done that in their 14-year existence – and the West has only seen four back-to-back division title winners over the past 20 years.
