America's Supreme Court has heard numerous groundbreaking cases, such as: Roe v. Wade, Brown v. Board of Education, Dred Scott v. Sandford, and F.C.C. v. Pacifica.
Now, 1993 Playmate of the Year v. Dead Millionaire's Son (properly titled: Vickie Lynn Marshall v. E. Pierce Marshall) can be added to the landmark Supreme Court decisions of the 21st century. On Tuesday, September 27th, the Supreme Court announced that they will give Anna Nicole Smith a new chance at claiming a piece of the fortune from her 90-year-old late husband.
The war between stepmom and stepson began when a sum of $474 million awarded to Smith was decreased to $89 million, and then tossed out altogether by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. The appeals court said that a Texas probate court's decision that her late husband's son was his only heir should stand.
Now, early next year, Anna Nicole Smith will take her fight all the way to the Supreme Court; and she's not the only one with the potential to cash in. Odds makers at BetCRIS - Where the line originates, have calculated the odds of the case's monetary outcome.
