Not even a year ago, Texas Longhorn Xavier Worthy showed up at the NFL Scouting Combine as a potential late 2nd or 3rd round draft pick. He knew the pressure was on him to perform. And, as you have probably heard, he did not disappoint.
The Fresno, California, native set an all-time record for the combine with a 4.21 40-yard dash. Some are saying, well, the previous record holder had 30+ pounds on him, so it's not as impressive. Get out of here with that. He isn't a running back. Worthy is a burner in every sense of the word. And as we say in the fight game, speed kills. I don't know why you don't hear that phrase more in NFL commentary, but you may hear it from the GOAT, Tom Brady, who will be calling his first Super Bowl from the broadcast booth this Sunday.
Worthy certainly isn't an A.J. Brown, who can use his body to frame off defenders. He has an incredibly slight frame, standing at 6'1" and weighing only 165 pounds. That's exactly my height and weight. It blows my mind how small he is. The young man isn't just fast, though. His vertical leap at the combine was 41 inches! To put that into perspective, the average for an NFL-level wide receiver is 35-38 inches, but a wideout only needs about 30 inches of vertical to be considered a 1st round pick should he check the other boxes.
The guy is a freak, and ever since he ditched the jeri-curl for the dreads and got married, his production on the field has gotten even better. What a 12 months this young man has had!

Worthy Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +165
With this ability to get into the stratosphere with one leap, Worthy doesn’t need to be 6’4” for Patrick Mahomes to throw him a fade. We already know he can run by anybody. I love his odds here to score a touchdown in his first Super Bowl.
Pick: Worthy Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +165
Worthy Over 1.5 Rushing Attempts: +103
The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has been dominant but also pretty basic. The opposite is true for the Kansas City Chiefs. They've struggled to move the ball at times, and one weakness has been their pass protection.
These are good reasons why Andy Reid will likely need to dig into his bag of tricks. He is no stranger to surprise plays, especially in the postseason. Worthy has carried the ball at least twice in 4 of his last 6 games. This isn't my favorite prop bet for him. However, don't worry, as we have another one coming up with very similar odds.
Pick: Pass
Worthy 6+ Rushing Yards: -103
We have the reasoning for the previous prop on our side, and we probably only need one carry to get to 6+ rushing yards. The difference between (-103) and (+103) is nearly nothing, so throw a little bit down on the NFL’s fastest man to get 6 or yards on the ground.
Pick: Worthy 6+ Rushing Yards
Worthy Super Bowl MVP: +3000
It isn’t often a wide receiver or a rookie, for that matter, to win the Super Bowl MVP, but that’s okay. We’re getting 30-1 odds for the best athlete on the field to have the best performance. My tin foil hat tells me Travis Kelce could win it, but you have to imagine Philly will be focused on him throughout.
My gut, however, and Worthy's incredible attributes speak to me that he has a decent chance to score a couple of times, and go over 100 yards receiving.
Pick: Worthy Super Bowl MVP
Worthy Over 67.5 Rush and Receiving Yards: -108
I don't mind a bet on his rushing yards over or his receiving yards over, but I love this play for him to go over 67.5 combined yards. It takes time to earn the trust of Mahomes. And with Worthy's late-season resurgence, coupled with Hollywood Brown's recent drops, we could see the former get up to 10 targets.
There’s also the fact that both running backs for KC come into the big game slightly banged up.
Pick: Worthy Over 67.5 Rush and Receiving Yards: -108
