2025 Super Bowl Defensive Props Odds and Predictions
Super Bowl Sunday is just days away, and we have some exciting defensive prop bets for you to take for this year’s big game. The Eagles and Chiefs have two of the best defensive units in the NFL, and it is largely what led them both to this year’s Super Bowl. There is some great value all across the board for these defensive prop bets. So, without further ado, let’s make some money off of these two defensive titans.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Josh Sweat Over 0.25 Sacks (+145)
The Eagles ranked 14th in the NFL in sacks, and Josh Sweat was the team leader in sacks with eight in the regular season. Sweat and Nolan Smith Jr. were the only two Eagles to record more than five sacks this season. However, through the team’s first three playoff games, Sweat has yet to record a sack, and he has only four total tackles. Despite his minimal impact on the stat sheet this postseason, Sweat is a disruptive presence, and the Eagles will be all in at getting to Patrick Mahomes early on in this game to rattle the veteran quarterback.
Tershawn Wharton Over 0.25 Sacks (+220)
Tershawn Wharton was second on the Chiefs in sacks during the regular season with 6.5, and he is currently second on the team in the postseason with two as he has recorded one in each of the Chiefs playoff games to this point. Jalen Hurts is tied with C.J. Stroud for the most sacks taken this postseason with 11, and Hurts was sacked 38 times over the course of the regular season. The Eagles have been shaky on the interior of their offensive line thanks to injury, and Wharton could exploit that in the Super Bowl. At +220 and the question marks on the inside, Wharton is giving us tremendous value.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson to Record an Interception (+700)
C.J. Gardner-Johnson led the team in interceptions during the regular season with six while turning one of those into a ‘Pick-Six.’ He has not recorded an interception yet this postseason, but the veteran is due. The Eagle’s defense is intense, and they will be looking to rattle Mahomes as quickly as possible. Mahomes threw 11 interceptions this season but has yet to throw one in the playoffs. The Chiefs only have seven big plays through the air this postseason, and numbers indicate that there is a good possibility the Chiefs will be playing from behind thanks to the Eagles hot starts and the Chiefs being a poor second half team. If the Chiefs do indeed fall behind, Mahomes will be more daring in his decision-making, which will lead to some mistakes and a Gardner-Johnson interception.
Nick Bolton to Record Most Tackles and Assists (+360)
Nick Bolton at +360 might be the best value pick among the defensive prop bets. Zack Baun on the other sideline will give him a run for his money, but Bolton will get plenty of opportunities in this one. Bolton led the team in tackles with 106 this season, and he was the only member of the Chiefs to break triple digits in this category. He has a sixth sense of finding and getting to the ball carrier, and that will be on full display against the Eagles. Bolton has just 11 tackles this postseason, but he has been here before and will look to have a huge impact on this one.
Nick Bolton Over 8.5 Tackles + Assists (+116)
In Super Bowl LVII, Bolton would have hit the over on this total tackles total as he recorded nine total tackles against the Eagles. In last year’s Super Bowl against the 49ers, Bolton recorded 13 tackles. In his two Super Bowls, Bolton has averaged 11 total tackles, much higher than his total for this year’s contest. With the Eagles leading the league with a 55.9% rushing play percentage, Bolton will get plenty of chances and should record nine or more tackles on Sunday.
Zack Baun Under 9.5 Tackles + Assists (+102)
Baun has been a huge piece of this Eagles defense this season. He led the team in total tackles this season with 151, which also ranked sixth in the NFL. He has carried that over to the playoffs, where he has recorded 26 tackles through the team’s three playoff games as he plugs the hole left by Nakobe Dean. Baun recorded 12 tackles in Philadelphia’s last game against Washington but had just six against the Rams and eight against the Packers. Baun has recorded nine or less tackles in 50% of his games this season and in 67% of his postseason games this year. The last game against Washington was the only game of his five career playoff games, where he recorded more than eight tackles. Though he has been a key for this Eagles defense, I expect him to record less than nine tackles.
Philadelphia Eagles Defense Touchdown (+650)
The Eagles are riding a lot of momentum into the Super Bowl. They are coming off a huge win against their division rival in the NFC Championship Game and have a chip on their shoulder from losing to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl just two years ago. Their defense has been the MVP of their season and has completely dominated the opposition. Though they recorded only one defensive score this season, at +650 it is worth some couch change. Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, Darius Slay Jr., and Gardner-Johnson all have the ability to record a ‘Pick-Six,’ and there is always a chance of a fumble to be taken to the house with this hard-hitting defense.
