It's the 5th of August already. That means we have about two months and 50 games remaining in the MLB regular season. I wish that meant we had a good idea of who'll win the respective pennants and subsequent World Series.

Parity is the word for the 2024 MLB regular season. We have nearly 20 out of the 30 teams with a .500 or better record and only 5 ball clubs with a winning percentage under 45%. There are a lot of “good” teams.

What I want to share with you guys today are some betting odds on which MLB team finishes the season with the best record.

Despite what you will see in the betting odds below, the parity continues with the elite teams, as the teams with the 5 best records in the league are only separated by 2 wins.

2024 MLB Best Record Betting Odds

New York Yankees: +175

Wow, I am quite surprised to see the Yankees as such a large favorite here over the other elite MLB teams. The addition of Jazz Chisolm has certainly provided a proper spark for New York, but I imagine that will fade in time.

They are an incredible team. And from what I could tell from the schedule, they will have the easiest road from here on out. The Yankees, however, are about the farthest you can get from a value pick.

The number is not right at the moment.

Los Angeles Dodgers: +290

Coming in at nearly 3-1, the LA Dodgers have the least wins at 65 of these top five teams. They also have the most losses at 47.

This team did not close well last season. So, one would imagine that would be a major focus this season. Like the Yankee lineup, they are a bit top-heavy. The bullpen can be shaky.

For this price, I have to pass on the LA Dodgers.

Baltimore Orioles: +450

Even with much higher betting odds at 4.5-1, the Baltimore Orioles have the same record right now at 67-46 as the previously mentioned Yankees. At first glance, it isn’t difficult to understand why.

The Yankees have more balance. They get on base at a much higher clip, and their pitching is significantly better. The O's do lead the league in homers, and they are an inspiring team. However, I don't trust a mediocre pitching staff to finish the season with MLB's best record.

Philadelphia Phillies: +450

The Philadelphia Phillies are the best "team" in Major League Baseball. Does this mean they will finish the season with the best record? No, but this team is ahead of schedule. In the last two seasons, the Phillies have played their best baseball over the final two months of the regular season.

Along with the New York Yankees, the Phillies are the most balanced team in the league. They are top 3 in almost every major pitching category, as well as top 7 in OPS, runs, and batting average.

Cleveland Guardians: +500

Hey, it is entirely possible. The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in MLB at the moment. They have overachieved to get to this point. It will be difficult for a team with an OPS in the middle of the pack to compete down the stretch with the previously mentioned powerhouses.
