Predictions and Best Bets for NFL Quarterbacks Season Long Props
The 2024 NFL Regular Season is rapidly approaching, and the discussion about who is the best quarterback in the league once again is null, moot, and void. All hail Patrick Mahomes. Statistics, though, well, that's a different story. I am certainly not high on Dak Prescott as a winning quarterback in the postseason. However, he is a fantasy freak, cashing bettors' tickets throughout the year as the Dallas Cowboys bully up on weaker foes.
We have odds and best bets today, not only for which quarterback will throw for the most yards and the most touchdowns but also for which QB will throw the most interceptions.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
NFL Quarterback Best Bets
Best Bets for Most Touchdown Passes
Patrick Mahomes: +400
Okay, I know the argument here is that Mahomes threw only 27 touchdowns last season, nine short of the league leader, Prescott. We can't forget, though, that this man has racked up 50 in his first year as a starter. Mahomes averaged 39 per season in 2020-2022.
Think about everything that went wrong for this team last season, including all the dropped passes. I see Kansas City tightening up in that department and Mahomes returning to statistical greatness at the quarterback position in 2024.
Matt Stafford: +1200
My value play here is on the LA Rams' Matt Stafford. He may be the best pocket passer in the NFL. Stafford has a healthy Cooper Kupp this season, along with 2nd-year bruising wideout Puka Nacua, as his primary weapons.
Stafford missed two games last season and was hampered overall by a stiff neck. Once he took the time off to recover, he returned with 18 touchdown passes in his final seven games.
Best Bets for Most Interceptions
Josh Allen: +850
The Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen is a turnover machine. It's that simple, and this year, he will be without his WR1, Stefon Diggs, for the first time in four years. He logged a career-high 18 INTs last season and threw for nearly 30 in the previous two years combined.
You would think as well as he scrambles, a lot of those interceptions would disappear because he would force less. Unfortunately for Allen and all of the Bills Mafia, though, he keeps throwing the ball to the wrong team.
Trevor Lawrence: +1200
We have another value play here for you at 12-1. Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is losing his best wide receiver this season, Calvin Ridley, before he even got settled in.
Lawrence has yet to show us the progression in his overall game to be an elite quarterback in the NFL. He could be a game manager, but his front office is cheap, and he usually feels the pressure to do too much, and that's when the mistakes come.
He threw 17 interceptions in his rookie season. That's okay because he played the entire year. Lawrence got that number down to 8 in his sophomore stint, only to throw for 14 in 2023. This would be the second time Lawrence has led the NFL in interceptions.
Best Bets for Most Passing Yards
C.J. Stroud: +650
It looks like the only thing that can slow Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud down from taking his game to the next level will be all this hype, not only him, but his entire team is receiving. The Texans are getting a lot of love from the public and are one of only two road betting favorites in Week 1.
We just mentioned Diggs, and I'm sure you heard the news months ago that he would be a Texan in 2024. Even without that signing, the Texans had the best offseason of any team.
Stroud played 15 games in his rookie year and threw for 23 TDs. We were talking about this guy winning the MVP in 2023. Let's hope this kid's composure can keep him calm enough to make the right throw when it counts. Opening up the field with Diggs is what his already explosive offense needed.
Tua Tagovailoa: +800
Our final play of the day is on the Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa. Nobody threw for more yards last season than the Hawaii native. There were several of the league's best at the top of the season leaderboard within a couple hundred yards of one another. This isn't my favorite bet, but for 8-1, we get last year's leader, the QB with the fastest receiver, and the man leading the NFL's #1 most explosive passing offense on paper.
