PGA Props Picks: Travelers Championship Predictions
The third major tournament of the year for the PGA Tour is now behind us, and the LIV golfers stole one from us.
Rory McIlroy is having one of the most consistent years of his career to date and was on pace to defeat the eventual winner, Bryson DeChambeau, until he missed not one or two but three par putts in the final round.
His struggles in major tournaments continue after winning two of them in 2014 and zero ever since. It's a shame for McIlroy, but good for us to note that he has finished in the top 25 in 12 of his 14 starts this year.
This week, the Northern Irelander takes the week off as the PGA Tour heads to the northeast, particularly Cromwell, Connecticut, at TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship.
This course is one of the shortest on the Tour and attackable off-the-tee for just about anyone. We are tree-lined but without water holes. For all betting intents and purposes, this is a tournament that can still be won by a heavy hitter. However, even someone like small-built Brian Harman can excel here.
Even though we are only a few days removed from the US Open, the field is rather thick at the top of the betting board, including Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa.
Let’s see if we throw any of our cash their way or perhaps focus on some lesser-known names with higher betting value with some fun and interesting prop bets for the Travelers Championship.

Matchups
Justin Rose (-122) vs Matthieu Pavon (+102)
Spread
Rose: -1.5 (+108)
Pavon: +1.5 (-140)
Aging British golfer Justin Rose is having an atrocious 2024, and I believe this matchup bet above is an excellent opportunity for us. He still has a much bigger name than Matthieu Pavon, of course.
That plays right into our hands. The online sportsbooks are providing a very affordable price for him against essentially a nobody to bettors. I don’t suggest you buy, though.
Not many people have heard of Pavon, but he is ranked in the top 20 in the world at the moment. The rookie is still flying under the radar of the casual bettors, and his course fit here at the Travelers Championship is nearly perfect.
His current form could be even better coming off of a 5th place finish just days ago at the US Open. Normally, I would say take the 1.5 strokes and pay the bit of juice here, but I am giving you the go-ahead to roll the dice for the plus money at (+102) to outplay Rose.
He has missed two straight cuts and doesn’t have a finish at The Travelers higher than 36 in nearly 10 years.
Pick: Pavon
Top 20
Corey Conners: +105
Bogey Free Round 1
Scottie Scheffler: +400
We sure picked a bad week to play Scheffler, again! That is twice in the past 6 weeks, the consensus best golfer in the world has disappointed us. With no injuries even being rumored, I am not shying away from playing him this week.
You can take him to win at only (+360), but let's lock him in at an even better price to finish round 1 without any bogeys. This is, of course, a very difficult thing to do. However, he is the best, and this course ranks in the bottom 20% on the PGA Tour in terms of difficulty.
Pick: Scheffler Bogey Free Round 1
Top 10 Finish Parlay
Brian Harman and Adam Scott: +2200
If anyone owns this tournament it is Harman. He is not a strong golfer off-the-tee who doesn't make his living launching the ball into orbit off the tee.
With five finishes inside the top 10 in his previous six starts here at the Travelers Championship, Harman, I would imagine, is locked in. His current form is about on par with his ranking, with many finishes inside the top 35 over his last ten starts.
That’s how he usually performs, so his form isn’t a worry.
As for Adam Scott, well, that’s why we are getting 22-1 to numbers. Scott usually struggles in his first tournament in a while stateside having to fly in from Australia.
He has played in 3 of the previous 4 weeks, however, and has finished inside the top 20 here in both of his previous two starts.
Pick: Scott and Harman Top 10 Finish Parlay
