PGA Props Picks: The Masters Predictions
With Major League Baseball's Opening Day and March Madness in the rearview, it's time to head to Augusta, Georgia, for the first PGA Tour Major of 2024, the Grandaddy of Them All, The Masters.
Most of the tournaments played in 2024 up to this point have all been in preparation for The Masters. This is also our first chance to see the LIV golfers compete against their former foes back on the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming betting favorite this week to win The Masters at just (+450)! He was 5 to 1 yesterday. Money has come in on the World #1.
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will be making their usual appearances. Remember, it was only five years ago when Woods had that incredible Masters win. Mickelson came close to the trophy last year with a second-place finish.
Everyone has their opinion on a winner this week, and that's fine. I am starting to think that a little better than 4 to 1 on Scheffler might not be the worst bet.
I have much better bets for you today, though. They are all fun and interesting prop bets for your own Masters success.

Matchups
Tiger Woods (+105) vs Phil Mickelson (-125)
We touched on these two a bit already. I have to be honest. I am surprised that the betting line is as close as it is. Lefty has just been more active. That’s what it comes down to for me.
I understand that Tiger has a million and one injuries that he is working on diligently. I get that he is generally prepping to peak, if you will, for this particular tournament. All of this work he is doing is only to give himself the opportunity to play, not the opportunity to win.
He likely doesn’t need a win to outplay Mickelson, of course, but Woods has played in just 9 tournaments on the PGA Tour since the pandemic and has had to withdraw from competition three of those weekends.
Mickelson hasn't been dominating LIV Golf by any means. But he is out there consistently, and that is easily enough for me to take him at only (-125) to outplay his longtime rival at The Masters.
Pick: Mickelson
Scottie Scheffler (-188) vs Jon Rahm (+155)
Spread
Scheffler: -1.5 (-150)
Rahm: +1.5 (+117)
There might actually be some sneaky value here on the Spaniard, Jon Rahm. He has played The Masters 7 times, two of those he finished 27th. That is very respectable. The other 5 times, well, he has an average finishing position of 5th, including a win here last year.
To argue there is value on Rahm means that we have to entertain the idea of betting against Scottie Scheffler. Rahm has top 8 finishes over his previous 5 starts. That is one of the rare cases we take the (+1.5) spread on the underdog. (+117) is nice, and we usually don't get plus money and the plus strokes. Let's hope we get a Rahm repeat performance at The Masters.
Pick: Rahm (+1.5)
Parlay
Scottie Scheffler Top 5 Finish/Rory McIlroy Top 10 Finish/Jon Rahm Top 20 Finish: +700
Guys, this is a long shot, yes, but I love it! There will likely be one of these four golfers pooping in our apple pie this weekend, but I dig it. Watch Scheffler be the one to miss their finish.
Rory McIlroy has missed two of the previous four cuts at Augusta, however, if he makes the cut, he is usually good for a top-10 finish. As for Rahm, I am not worried about a top-20 miss.
Make the Cut Parlay
Jon Rahm/Russel Henley/Collin Morikawa/Brian Harman: +145
Moving on from one Masters parlay to the next, we have the defending champion, Rahm, as our anchor. Russell Henley has been playing outstanding golf as of late and has the course history we are looking for. Collin Morikawa has hit a snag in his young career at the age of 27. However, he has the talent, ability, and course history to compete for four days.
Lastly, Brian Harman has missed the cut here at the Masters two years in a row. The normally consistent Harman is in superb form, at the moment and isn't likely to miss three in a row.
Top 30 Finish Parlay
Scottie Scheffler/Rory McIlroy/Xander Schuaffele: -130
We have been sticking with plus money to this point. And with a three-leg parlay, underdog odds are usually a given.
That makes sense here, though. We are talking about the #1 and #2 golfers on the PGA Tour, and Xander Schauffele has 3 top-10 finishes at The Masters. His form is outstanding, with five top-5 finishes in his previous 7 starts on Tour.
This is my favorite bet of the week.
