PGA Props Picks: Texas Children's Houston Open Predictions
Last week's event, the Valspar Championship, had some notable players in the field. We were nearly perfect the week prior but faltered at the Valspar. We were on Cameron Young to finish inside the top 30 for (-130). He got 2nd place!
The rest of our bets were not our best. Let’s move on to this weekend’s event.
Wow, so there is Scottie Scheffler -- and the rest of the field -- this week. The world’s best golfer is far and above the betting favorite for this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open.
He is (+300) to win the whole thing! This is nuts. I have been betting golf for a long time, and it is beyond rare to see a favorite of just 3 to 1. The next guy down the betting board is American Wyndham Clark, who is coming in at (+1200) to win the tournament.
Veterans Jason Day and Tony Finau are in the field, along with youngsters Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala. South Korean star Si Woo Kim, who has sneakily been in superb form, will be looking to beat a 13th-place finish, the best of his career, at the Houston Open.
Betting a winner here is pretty easy. Take Scheffler! The guy did it at 6-1 a couple of weeks ago, and that was coming off of a win the week prior. The Jersey native skipped last week's Valspar, and it's crystal clear that this guy doesn't take tournaments off or use them to "prep" for bigger weeks ahead.
I want us to dive a bit deeper, though, because there are plenty of fun and interesting prop bets available for the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Let’s look at a few of those and make some picks!

Kurt Kitayama Top 20 Finish: +190
We are kicking off our fun and interesting prop bets for the Texas Children’s Houston Open with one that is fairly straightforward yet overflowing with value.
The 31-year-old UNLV grad is quickly approaching his golfing prime. Kitayama is a consistent golfer, and that is something I love for a top 20 wager. He has yet to play this course competitively, but his style suits it well.
Kitayama is a bit wild off the tee. However, the Houston Open is played on a municipal course that takes good care of plenty of amateurs with the same issue. Over his previous 7 starts dating back to 2023, he has an average finishing position of just under 25. These were mostly on difficult courses with thicker fields of golfers.
Pick: Kitayama Top 20 (+190)
Top 10 Finish Parlay
Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark: +260
These two…
Everyone was talking about Scheffler’s two consecutive wins this month, me included. What about Clark, though?
The American finished 2nd to his countryman in each of those tournaments. In the most recent one, The PLAYERS, Scheffler needed to outplay Clark by 5 strokes on Sunday to get the W. He did exactly that.
This speaks to the awesomeness of each guy. We know they are each in excellent form. However, what about their course history here in H-Town?
Scheffler has two top-10 finishes here in his last two tries, while Clark has improved his score each time he has played the Houston Open.
Could these two go 1 and 2 once again? I hope so, but I will settle for 1st and 10th.
Pick: Scheffler and Clark Top 10 Parlay (+260)
To Make the Cut Parlay: -110
Scottie Scheffler
Wyndham Clark
Jason Day
Sahith Theegala
Sticking with the theme of parlays, we are now 1-1 with our “Make the cut” parlays. If Clark, Day, and Theegala all make the cut, and Scheffler withdraws early because of his reported sore neck, I might lose it… as in my mind.
Thankfully, that isn't likely. What is likely is these four golfers make the cut. We need it to be at least at an implied probability of 55% to make a smart bet. I am already there.
Scheffler is about as close of a lock in golf as you can get. The dude is (-550) to finish inside the top 20!
We already made the case for Clark. I like him to continue to improve his finishing position at the Houston Open, especially in such a light field.
Australia’s Jason Day loves this putting surface. He has also quietly been in solid form. Going back to last Summer, he has made the cut in 13 of his previous 14 starts.
That leaves Theegala. Like Clark, he has improved on his score here in each appearance. He also hasn’t missed the cut at this tournament. SoCal’s Theegala is also on a nice run of making 12 of the previous 14 cuts on Tour.
Pick: Scheffler, Theegala, Day, Clark (-110)
