PGA Props Picks: RBC Canadian Open Predictions
Alright, who had Hattiesburg, Mississippi's own Davis Riley to win last week's Charles Schwab Classic? If you're reading this and had the 350-1 underdog on a short sheet of potential winners, I have to get your number so we can talk shop.
The 27-year-old was locked in, more out of choice than necessity. Less than a week after his older sister Caroline had a seizure and subsequent brain surgery, Riley had no choice but to focus on winning.
He shot an even-par on Sunday but still managed to hold off the world number 1, Scottie Scheffler, among others, and scorch the entire field by 5 strokes for his first PGA Tour victory.
That concluded the Texas Swing, and we are headed north to Ancaster, Ontario, for the Canadian Open. I'm sure it will be much cooler than what golfers had to endure over Memorial Day Weekend at the hottest tournament of the year thus far.
Atop the betting board this week is a golfer who prefers some chill in the air, Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy. A winner of the RBC Canadian Open in two of the last three years, McIlroy heads up a light field of elite golfers including Tommy Fleetwood, who was runner-up in 2023.
Europeans and Canadians will fill the boxes this week. If you are pulling for an American, maybe throw a few bucks on Shreveport’s Sam Burns. He is a bit inconsistent. However, when he’s on, he is on. He would be better for a top 10 bet than a top 20 due to the volatility of his play.
Picking a winner in this sport is not easy, especially when legends like Riley outplay guys like Scheffler through Sunday. That’s why I want to share some fun and interesting prop bets for the RBC Canadian Open with you guys.

Matchup
Tommy Fleetwood (-128) vs Sahith Theegala (+107)
The aforementioned Fleetwood is always a fun bet. The long-haired Brit can be all over the place at times if you look at a graph of his finishes throughout the year. However, the 33-year-old with a big smile has several tournaments where he plays exceptionally well.
Fortunately for us, one of those events is the RBC Canadian Open. He isn't north of the border often, but he has a 6th-place finish as well as the runner-up performance last year we mentioned earlier in his previous two outings.
In the other tee box stands Sahith Theegala of Orange, California. Standing at 6’3”, the Pepperdine grad is certainly a heavy hitter. This not-so-challenging golf course invites players to attempt to send their golf ball into orbit.
This could work out well for the talented youngster, but it hasn't yet. The Canadian Open is never known to be a star-studded affair, yet Theegala has finishes of 53rd and 38th here in his only two tries.
Couple that with the solid form of Fleetwood as of late, and I think we have a bet.
Pick: Fleetwood (-128)
Rory McIlroy Top 5 (+110)
We mentioned McIlroy in the opener. It’s almost as if this course is designed for him. He has the power off the tee and the calculated aggression to blast away from the box with confidence.
After winning the RBC Canadian Open two consecutive years, McIlroy finished a disappointing “9th” in 2023. He is a competitor first and a golfer second. So, I know he will be locked in this week in Ontario.
He is (+360) to win the whole thing. His odds of (+110) for a top-five don't seem like a great deal. However, he is arguably in the best form of any golfer on the PGA Tour. A win here would mean victories in three of his previous four starts.
Pick: McIlroy Top 5 (+110)
Top 20 Finish Parlay
Rory McIlroy/Corey Conners/Tommy Fleetwood: +400
After a shaky start at the Canadian Open, Corey Conners has finishes of 6th and 20th here in his home country. The constantly consistent Conners hasn’t missed a cut on the PGA Tour in over a year of playing nearly every week.
I like the local boy to hopefully sneak into the top 20 this week. He averages about a 20th-place finish in the thickest fields. Why can't he get it done this week?
He is clearly the weak link in this threesome. However, this bet has not one but two anchors for support, with the top two betting favorites holding things down.
Pick: McIlroy/Conners/Fleetwood: +400
