Odds and Best Bets for the NFL’s Last Undefeated Team
We get things started in less than two weeks with a banger of a kickoff game. In a rematch of the AFC Championship game, the winners of Super Bowl LVIII, the Kansas City Chiefs, play host to the Baltimore Ravens. As you might have guessed, this one is lined closely with the home Chiefs listed as a 3-point favorite.
The league isn't playing around this year. I'm excited for this one. That isn't the only marquee matchup we have in Week 1.
We have another primetime game on Friday between two NFC powerhouses. The Green Bay Packers head east to Philadelphia to play the Eagles. Philly is currently less than a field goal favorite at (-2.5). If it stays under 3, that is a lot of respect shown to Jordan Love and the Pack.
The Sunday and Monday night primetime games are as intriguing, if not more than the ones we mentioned. The Rams visit the Lions, and on Monday, Aaron Rodgers will need to be rust-free if he wants to lead his Jets to victory in San Francisco opposite the 49ers. Both the Lions and the Niners' betting odds include the hook at (-3.5).
I am thrilled to break these games down. Prediction articles are incoming. However, first, let's touch on these games as well as a few others, over the first 5 weeks or so of the 2024 NFL schedule.
Today, we have odds and best bets for the NFL's last undefeated team. It is already looking difficult, as 8 of the best teams in the NFL all have high-level matchups in Week 1. It is hard to guess how many wins this team will have before they're handed their first loss. Last year, the Eagles tush-pushed their way to a 5-0 start. The Niners started with five wins in 2022. This season, I am thinking 4-5 wins.

NFL’s Last Undefeated Team Betting Odds
Detroit Lions: +500
When I look at the schedule of the Detroit Lions, I don't see any games against the league's elite. However, a season opener in primetime against a loaded Rams offense is not easy. They play four playoff contenders in the first five weeks and take a trip to play a new/retro look Arizona Cardinals.
That is too much to be the betting favorite.
Kansas City Chiefs: +800
The Chiefs got off to a sluggish start last year. Heck, they didn’t exactly stroll through the season or even the playoffs. They have the best quarterback in the league, though.
KC also has to play four potential playoff teams in their first five games, and two of them are elite; the Bengals and the Ravens.
San Franciso 49ers: +800
Also at (+800), we have the 49ers, who are a super team once again this season. Are they better than they were last year, though? Time will tell.
As for this bet, I don't like playing the Jets and Rams, the latter of which is on the road in the first three weeks of the season.
Miami Dolphins: +1000
The Miami Dolphins are an incredibly explosive team on offense. Last season, when they lost to the elite teams, it was because they couldn’t get stops. They have made improvements on the defensive side of the ball.
They are a lot of fun and as dangerous as any team in the league. As a fan, I hope the Dolphins can find more balance. It will make for much better football.
Philadelphia Eagles: +1000
Philly gets a homestand to start the season as well. However, disposing of the Packers and the Falcons is tough. From there, they have a decent path to 6-0.
Green Bay Packers: +1400
Road games in Philly and in LA to play the Rams have me passing.
Houston Texans: +1400
Can we just blind-bet the Texans here without even looking at their schedule? They look to be incredible this season. Quarterback C.J. Stroud will probably show up as a much-improved player. However, even if he doesn't, I have the Texans winning their division, as well as 1-2 playoff games.
New York Jets: +1400
Okay, I know they play the Niners in Week 1 on the road. They are currently (+180) underdogs to win. It's not likely. If they do win, however, they have a wide-open route to 5-0, playing some of the league's worst.
Baltimore Ravens: +1400
Baltimore has a brutal schedule early on. There is a good reason they are this far down the board.
Cincinnati Bengals: +1800
They play KC and Baltimore in their first five games.
Best Bets
Miami Dolphins
I like their schedule early in the season. They have two at home against the Jags and division-rival Bills. After that, though, they play some of the worst teams in the league for the next month. We could see a 6-0 start from the Fish.
Houston Texans
They host the Bears and Bills through their first six games but not much else until their 8th game against the Packers.
New York Jets
I love the value here on the Jets. Robert Salah could be coach of the year. Heck, we might even see an MVP-level season from Aaron Rodgers. The entire team showed a lot of character to make it through last season.
