NFL Week 6 Lookahead Lines: Best Bets and Predictions
In the world of handicapping and sports betting, we stay zoomed in. Yes, it’s a great idea to break down one game at a time. However, zooming out at least once a week and focusing our camera on the following week’s slate of games allows us to see the game from a different perspective.
I’m a massive believer in finding different perspectives in life. This translates seamlessly to the world of sports betting. I picked up the habit in MMA as recency bias is even more prevalent than we see in the NFL. Then, it’s draped over their shoulder for months until the fighter can compete again. Sportsbooks will always have some odds available for potential matchups, a few of them. Many times, both fighters would compete before they ended up fighting each other and the odds would shift drastically over one fight.
The NFL is a little different, of course, but it’s never been more necessary to look ahead with the 3-4 primetime games per week along with the matchups overseas potentially becoming overwhelming.
Reverting to the fighting parallel one more time, it’s better to be proactive than reactive. Even if you don’t make a bet on a lookahead line, it will only help us make more informed decisions in the future. We zoom in and we zoom out.

Week 6 Lookahead Lines Best Bets
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5) at Las Vegas Raiders
A bet on Pittsburgh here means we think the Steelers look good this week and/or the Raiders have a bad game. I dig it. The Denver Broncos are a problem on defense, and Las Vegas star wideout Davante Adams may have a new family by Sunday, as a trade to either the Jets or Saints to play with a former quarterback is possible. The trade may take some time if it actually happens, but it isn’t just that. Nobody has looked good against Denver. I don’t see an outstanding performance from the Raiders moving this line. Pittsburgh already has the defense, and I have them to cover at home against Dallas. Justin Fields is coming off of his best game as well. Bet Pittsburgh now before this one gets to 3 or 3.5.
San Francisco 49ers (-3) at Seattle Seahawks
We have a couple of different angles here. The other angle involves the Seahawks, who are in a gigantic gabagool sandwich spot this week against the Giants. Another minus for Seattle is that this game will be their third game in just 10 days time. They played Detroit on Monday night, they play this Sunday, and then host the Niners on Thursday Night Football. Their injury report isn’t as ugly as the 49ers’. However, playing three games in 10 days alone is enough for me to bet against them. Add in their potential flat spot this week against New York, and we have an early play on San Francisco.
LA Chargers at Denver Broncos (Over 37.5)
LA is on a bye this week, and you know Denver travels to Vegas. The extra week to prepare for the Chargers worries me with a bet on the under, but their defense is getting the extra prep as well.
Let’s not complicate this one. These two teams have played eight games, and only one of those has gone over 33 points, which was Denver against the Seahawks, who we know can light up the scoreboard.
Green Bay Packers (-5.5) vs Arizona Cardinals
I’m not jumping off the Green Bay Packers bandwagon and neither should you. Jordan Love is back in rhythm this week for a road matchup in LA to play the Rams. As for Arizona, they seem to be regressing. We can’t trust Kyler Murray to read a playbook. And if the Niners put a whooping on them this week, we could see this number get up to a touchdown. I don’t want to have to worry about 7 or 6, though. Bet the Pack now. They’re elite when they’re healthy.
