The Super Bowl has come and gone. I hope you were on the Chiefs and the under. We threw those two lines into a teaser, and it turned out to be the bet of the night that was never really in question.

This weekend, sports fans are treated to some East vs West All-Star action. Before the game on Sunday, though, we have the always amazing dunk contest, the 3-point contest, with several All-Stars in the field, as well as a friendly battle of the sexes between the WNBA's New York Liberty star, Sabrina Ionescu, and Steph Curry.

I can remember looking forward to the dunk contest and 3-point shootout like it was Christmas or something. With many NBA stars opting to stay healthy and not risk injury these days, the excitement has been muted slightly.

You don't want to miss it this year, though, because, as you know, it only takes one special dunk for the night to be memorable.

A big part of 3-point shooting, as you know, is simply being hot. We don't know who will have their best stroke on Saturday night. For that reason, I don't want to invest heavily into picking a winner.

I like the value here, however, on former 3-point contest winner from 2022, Karl-Anthony Towns. The silky smooth 7-footer from the first-place Minnesota Timberwolves is shooting an astounding 43.6% from downtown, good enough for 12th in the NBA.

Parlay

Malik Beasley + Trae Young to Advance to the Final Round: +440

I don't know about you, but as a New York Knicks fan, I have remembered the name Trae Young. It appears some of y'all must've forgot how lethal this young man can be as a scorer, leader, and facilitator.

He was originally snubbed from this year's All-Star team. However, as of a few days ago, he is in. What does that mean for betting on him? To me, it's a green light, and that goes for the 3-point contest and the All-Star game itself.

I am looking forward to seeing his game face for hopefully the entirety of the weekend.

Malik Beasley of the Milwaukee Bucks is the other half of our parlay here to advance to the final round of the shootout. Draining nearly 45% of his attempts beyond the arc in 53 games this year, Beasley has made more total threes than the 6 players who are shooting a better percentage.

We have the best guy statistically as well as someone potentially competing with a chip on their shoulder.

Sabrina Ionescu vs Steph Curry 3-Point Shootout

Chef Curry is not going to lose to a woman, is he? I don’t know…

The online sportsbooks seem to think there is a decent possibility that Ionescu can pull off the upset. I’m not against it, either.

It would make for quite the headline for just about every media outlet in the world. I will take the opportunity to triple my money on the WNBA star representing for her league.

Dunk Contest

Mac McClung: -190

Jacob Toppin: +600

Jami Jaquez Jr.: +650

Shoutout to Mac McClung of the D-League! If you haven't had a chance to see this kid play, do yourself the favor and start with his high school highlights. He grew up in a small town in Southwestern Virginia, where he was light years ahead of every teammate or foe until he got to college.

He is a bit undersized for the NBA and can be a liability on defense, but this 6’2” guard registered a 44-inch vertical entering the league, good for top ten all-time.

With all that said, he is too big of a favorite to bet on in a dunk contest. All it takes is one bad one from you or one from another competitor that brings the house down to beat you.

Instead, I like the Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown. Who knows what these boys will have cooking for us, but bet responsibly and have fun with the NBA's All-Star Weekend.
