MLB props picks Corbin Burnes Baltimore Orioles

Friday features a slate of 14 games, and we have you covered from the mound to the batter’s box. There are usually a ton of MLB player prop bets offered for each and every matchup. Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Orioles, OVER 7.5 strikeouts (-130)

The Baltimore Orioles take on the lowly Athletics on Friday night, and our first selection is Corbin Burnes’ strikeout total. Burnes is off to a stellar start with the Orioles after being traded by the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason. Through five starts, he is 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA while striking out 29 batters in 29.1 innings pitched. He has averaged over one strikeout per inning throughout his career with 899 strikeouts in 738.2 innings pitched. The Oakland A’s lead Major League Baseball in striking out with 251 whiffs in 26 games played. With this being a home game for the O’s, I am looking for Burnes to come out and dominate.

J.D. Martinez, New York Mets, OVER 0.5 home runs (+450)

Martinez will suit up tonight for the first time as a Met, and he has a juicy matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals. Miles Mikolas toes the rubber for the Cardinals, and he has been downright awful. He is 1-3 with a 6.49 ERA and allows 1.52 baserunners per inning. He has allowed a .231 ISO and wOBA of .378 to his first 54 righties faced this year. Martinez has hit a .298 ISO and wOBA of .374 against his last 343 righties faced. He has hit more fly balls than ground balls against righties and has also smacked 62.8% of hard contact with an 18.1%-barrel percentage. All signs point toward Martinez hitting a few bullets off of Mikolas tonight.

Kutter Crawford, Boston Red Sox, OVER 5.5 strikeouts (-120)

The 28-year-old hurler for the Red Sox has been very solid to start the ’24 campaign. He is currently 1-0 with a 0.66 ERA, and 30 punch-outs in 27.1 innings pitched. He will face a Chicago Cubs squad that has whiffed 210 times on the season. Crawford has struck out 33.9% of lefties to begin the season and he should be facing five lefties in the Cubs’ projected lineup on Friday night. Those five left-handed hitters on the Cubs’ starting lineup have combined to strike out 28.6% of the time against righties since last season. I really like Crawford’s strikeout potential tonight at Fenway Park.

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers, UNDER 1.5 total bases (-110)

Betts has been one of the hottest hitters in MLB to start the year with a .374 batting average. We are going to fade him in this spot against Chris Bassitt and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays’ right-hander enters this matchup with a 2-3 record and a 3.90 ERA through five starts. Betts’ career numbers against Bassitt are not very good. The Dodgers shortstop has a .154 batting average against him in 13-at-bats with a .308 OPS. All signs are pointing for Mookie to fall back down to earth on Friday night and take the under on his total bases line.

Isaac Paredes, Tampa Bay Rays, OVER 1.5 total bases (+130)

Parades has had a solid start to the season, hitting .284 with six home runs and a .889 OPS. These are the kind of guys you want to target for total base props. He is coming off back-to-back multi-hit games and has an extra-base hit in three straight contests. Paredes gets a juicy matchup against the 3-22 Chicago White Sox and right-hander Chris Flexen. The White Sox hurler is 0-3 with a 6.41 ERA on the season. Paredes is 1-for-2 with a triple in his career against Flexen, giving me every optimistic reason to hit the over button on his total base prop to collect multiple hits or tally an extra-base hit on Friday night.
