ATS
Hot
Dallas Stars 8-2
Dallas has picked the best time to get hot. They have won 10 of their last 11 games straight up and have covered in 10 of 12. The two games they failed to cover were a road game with backup Scott Wedgewood in the net and their last home game against Buffalo where a goal was questionably taken off the board that would have given Dallas the cover. There are eight guys on this Stars roster with more than 20 goals, and Jake Oettinger has been lights out lately, allowing just seven goals in his last five starts. Something special is brewing in Dallas. On the season, the Stars have not been this dominant ATS, as they have covered just 34 of their 79 games.
Ottawa Senators 8-2
Despite the disappointing season for the Senators, they are choosing to be a thorn for their opponents. The beginning of this 10-game stretch started with a five-game winning streak, the longest of the season for Ottawa, but the team has since gone 1-4. However, the netminding has been better lately and has allowed just 2.6 GA/G, which has played a big factor in all their success ATS. Overall, the Senators are 38-40 ATS this season.
Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0
Despite being sellers at the deadline, the Penguins have put together a strong run to close out the season as they attempt to sneak into the playoffs. They are currently riding a nine-game point streak and have covered in their last five games. Alex Nedeljkovic has started in nine straight games and has allowed just 2.78 GA/G, while the offense has averaged 4.0 GF/G. They have a tough schedule remaining with three straight home games against Detroit, Boston, and Nashville and a road game against the Islanders. However, if they can keep this up, they may sneak into the playoffs. Overall, the Penguins are 38-40 ATS.
Cold
Calgary Flames 1-9
The Flames have long been eliminated from the playoffs and have seemed to just give up since the deadline. They have won just six games since the beginning of March and have gone 2-8 in their last 10 games straight up and their lone cover came against in a 4-2 home victory against the Kings. The goaltending has been the real issue, as the Flames have allowed 3.9 GA/G over the last 10 games, which is not a recipe for success. Overall, the Flames have been one of the worst teams ATS this season, going 34-43 on the year.
Nashville Predators 2-8
The Predators have hit a wall since their win streak ended against the Coyotes on March 28. Since then, Nashville has gone just 2-4-1 straight up. Since the end of the streak, the netminding efforts from Juuse Saros and Kevin Lankinen have taken a hit, as they have combined to allow 29 goals in the last seven games. They have locked up a playoff spot, but need to do better in their final three games if they want to sit as the seven seed. Overall, the Predators have gone 43-36 ATS this season which is the seventh best effort in the NHL.
Moneyline
Hot
Dallas Stars 9-1
The Stars have won 10 of their last 11 games. They are an absolute wagon with weapons all over the place. If Jake Oettinger can maintain the shutdown dominance he has now, the Stars will make a deep run again this season.
New York Rangers 8-2
The Rangers are currently leading the way in the league standings with a one-point lead over the Stars. Their final three games will all be at home and against the Flyers, Islanders, and Senators. Thanks to a 2-1 head-to-head performance against Carolina, all the Rangers need is a point to lock up the Metro Division. The Rangers have not lost back-to-back games since March 2 & 4 and have gone 6-2 in their last eight road games. The Rangers may be the best team in the league.
New York Islanders 5-0
The Islanders have gotten hot at the right time as well as they try to fight their way into the playoffs. As it stands now, with four games remaining, the Islanders are in the final guaranteed spot in the Metro Division. However, there are only three points separating them and the Penguins, who are the first team out at the moment. The goaltending has stepped up when needed over the current five game stretch, allowing just 1.6 GA/G. Though it is likely they will make the playoffs, the Islanders will need to stay hot in the week to come.
Cold
Philadelphia Flyers 1-9
The Flyers have seemingly fallen out of the race at this point. They are only two points behind the Capitals for the final wild card spot, but they have lost nine straight, and the offense has gone ice cold. Though the goaltending hasn’t bailed them out at all, the Flyers have mustered just 2.1 GF/G over the last 10 games. Their remaining schedule includes a road game against the Rangers and two home games against the Devils and Capitals to close it out. The Flyers need to figure it out fast or they are going to miss the playoffs.
San Jose Sharks 2-8
The Sharks sit firmly in the basement. Fans better hope they win the Lottery… It is a mess out there in San Jose.
