Raise your hand if you had a successful Super Bowl. Okay, I wasn't talking to you Chiefs bandwagoners. With the roster addition of the biggest pop star in the world, Taylor Swift, even more fair-weather fans are wearing red.

I was referring to a fortunate evening of betting. For me, I had a rough year picking NFL games. So, it felt amazing for the Super Bowl to play out precisely as I predicted. We said to bet the Chiefs and the under 47.5.

The game could have gone either way, as you know, but the bet of the week was a teaser on the under and the Chiefs. That one was pretty much a sure thing from the opening kickoff. I don't think anyone had KC losing by 8 or more points, and the total definitely wasn't getting to 53.5. I can't believe we made it to 47, but hey, a missed extra point, albeit blocked, but still, in the Super Bowl is pitiful.

We will take it. While these two teams are still fresh in our minds, I want to look ahead to next season and tackle some potentially profitable prop bets on both the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Team Wins

Kansas City

Over 10.5: -145

Under 10.5: +120

As you can see, the over here has been bet up almost immediately. And without even thinking that far in advance, one can almost assume that the Chiefs will win 11 games during the regular season.

They have a young team, as Patrick Mahomes shouted as he wrapped up his initial post-game interview. Defensive coordinator and mastermind Steve Spagnola was re-signed a couple of days ago.

That alone has me leaning towards the over bet here, even though it's juiced up to (-145). I believe most bettors would agree that KC had an off year, at least in the regular season, in 2023. Taking them as favorites got us in trouble some weeks.

They still won 11 games last season. Mahomes is somehow still improving. And with the system and leadership around him, I say we follow the steam here and get this (-145) before it becomes (-175) or more.

Pick: Over 10.5 Wins (-145)

San Francisco

Over 11.5: +125

Under 11.5: -150

It appears that oddsmakers are on the other side, the under side, for the 49ers. The Super Bowl runners-up are expected to be just as, if not more, dominant next season. They are actually favored over the Chiefs slightly to win the Super Bowl in 2025.

I know they fired their defensive coordinator, which was such a scapegoat move. However, the word is that Bill Belichick might be coming on board to run the defense. I promise you that if this turns out to be true, these betting odds will flip. I will take the Niners to be that good once again and bring in at least 12 wins.

Pick: Over 11.5 Wins (+125)

To Make the Playoffs

Kansas City

Yes: -290

No: +230

This betting line is almost too expensive… key word, almost. The (-290) is playable, in my opinion, for KC to make the postseason. If you think Mahomes and Spagnola aren’t going to the playoffs, I don’t know what to tell you.

That’s without even mentioning Swift and Kelce. I think it’s worth 3 units to clear 1.

San Francisco

Yes: -550

No: +425

Okay, this line is not playable, but seeing their odds almost double that of the Chiefs gives me more confidence in them getting to 12 wins.

To Win Their Conference

Kansas City: +330

We keep thinking that every year could be Lamar Jackson’s year or maybe that someone like Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert could turn their teams into title contenders.

This isn't really getting us anywhere, though. For me, the biggest obstacle in the way of another Chiefs AFC title is Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

It’s hard to bet against KC, but we have some good spots already today. We can pass on this one.

San Francisco: +225

I guess the Eagles might bounce back. They had a lot of injuries heading into the postseason. Other than that, though, who is going to challenge the Niners?

Yeah yeah, Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions come to mind. He made some bonehead calls at the end of the NFC Championship Game opposite the Niners. Until we see him calm down a bit and be more calculated, I am going with Brock Purdy to strike gold once more, winning the NFC at better than 2-to-1 odds.
