2024 Daytona 500 Prop Bets: Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
The Super Bowl has passed. Valentine's Day is behind us, thankfully. The NBA has reached the halfway mark of their regular season. MLB Spring Training is underway. It will be time for March Madness before we know it.
Football was fun, but I am excited about the shift in focus. Fire up the grill, throw some corn dogs on, and crack open a Busch Light. It's that time of year again. NASCAR is back. And if you aren't betting on these races, you are missing out on a ton of value.
The United States’ premier car racing organization does things a little differently with their season. The most prestigious title on the circuit is up for grabs in the first event of the year.
The Great American Race, the Daytona 500, has been around for over 65 years now. And for half a century before that, the cars were tearing up the sand on the beach. That's where this thing all started.
Well, it actually began in Franklin County, Virginia, the home of moonshine. NASCAR evolved from drivers getting so good behind the wheel from running moonshine from the police during the prohibition days.
Even with a ton of mainstream sports media not giving NASCAR racing the respect it deserves, and South Park calling them stupid because they simply drive real fast and turn to the left sometimes, NASCAR still has a faithful fan base that is comparable, at least per capita, with the other major sports in America.
Today, we have some Daytona 500 prop bets. Let’s start steering to the left. Turn one is coming.

Winning Manufacturer
Ford: +140
Chevy: +165
Toyota: +240
Grandfather of Kyle and father of Richard; Lee Petty won the first Daytona 500 in 1959 with what kind of car?
Congratulations if you answered Oldsmobile. Unfortunately, your grandfather’s loyal steed won’t be in the running at the 2024 Daytona 500.
The usual suspects of Ford, Chevy, and Toyota are what we have to choose from. It makes sense that the Fords are the betting favorites here, but I actually like the Toyotas to pull off the upset.
Aggressive youngsters Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell qualified at 3rd and 4th this week. They both drive a 'Yota, and multiple-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin is the betting favorite this weekend to get the W.
This is such a chaotic race. And, almost certainly we will have a couple of wrecks that completely shift the field. That's another reason to go with the dog here.
Pick: Toyota (+240)
Kyle Busch Top 5: +150
Kyle Busch is one of the top NASCAR drivers of all time. One might find it hard to believe. However, that in nearly 20 attempts, he has never taken the checkered flag at the Daytona 500.
The guy is the active leader in Cup Series wins as well as the record holder for wins in both the Xfinity and Truck Series.
The Daytona 500, as crazy and unpredictable as it can be, seems to not always but usually follow a narrative or have a good story for the winner. I can't think of a better than Busch getting his 1st Great American Race win after 20 tries.
If not, though, he is one of the most careful drivers. Let’s hope that his experience can keep him out of the crashes and into the top 5 by the end of it.
Matchup
William Byron (-115) vs Bubba Wallace (-115)
The driver who took over the 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports from the great Jeff Gordon hasn't exactly lived up to those lofty expectations, but he is lethal on super speedways like Daytona.
With wins at Texas and Indianapolis in the past, along with winning a smaller 250-mile race at Daytona, Byron is a driver who isn't afraid to take a few chances to get the win.
On the other side, we have Bubba Wallace, the son of Rusty. He is the most accomplished African American driver in the history of NASCAR. I understand it's 2024, but I am certain this guy went through quite a bit to get where he is today.
He is now the charter member of Team 23XI. Yes, that is #23. Michael Jordan, along with the aforementioned Hamlin started a new team, and Wallace is their premier guy. I don't have anything against Wallace other than that he tries too hard and usually makes a mistake doing so.
He is so proud of what he is doing, and we all are. That doesn't change the fact that there is a ton of pressure on him to perform.
Wallace has yet to show us the ice in his veins we saw from his father, and I think that will be the difference on Sunday as his hopes to win the Daytona 500 may go up in smoke.
Pick: Byron (-110)
