As we head into Week 7 of the College Football season, I will use my thorough knowledge of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers to bring you insightful, but more importantly, profitable information on CCU’s current contest. We will dive into the analysis and to maximize our return on investment, we will be utilizing Doc’s trusted “Unit Betting System.”

The Appalachian State Mountaineers (3-2) and their 20th-ranked pass defense will host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2-3) and their 25th-ranked pass attack on Tuesday night in a Sun Belt Conference showdown. In their last game, the Chanticleers took home a loss by the Georgia Southern Eagles by a final score of 38-28. QB Grayson McCall had one of his worst games of his career, throwing four interceptions. When it comes to finding paydirt, Coastal Carolina is averaging 30.8 points per game. They have scored seven touchdowns via the pass and another nine touchdowns on the ground. CCU ranks 57th in the nation when it comes to total team defense. They have allowed an average of 23.6 points per contest.

McCall has thrown for 1,302 yards in the 2023 season, completing 64.3% of his passes with six touchdowns and six interceptions. He is averaging 260.4 yards per game through the air. Braydon Bennett leads the ground game with 245 yards on 49 carries while scoring three touchdowns. Sam Pinckney leads the wide receiver unit with 443 yards on 28 catches while scoring three touchdowns. The No. 1 receiver is averaging 88.6 yards per game.

The Mountaineers head into this matchup with a 3-2 record for the 2023 season. They won their most recent game over the UL Monroe Warhawks by a final score of 41-40. The Mountaineers offense put up 536 yards of total offense in the victory. QB Joey Aguilar had three total touchdowns, completed 27-of-39 passes for 335 yards and had three total touchdowns. His QBR was 156.5 vs the Warhawks. Appalachian State currently ranks 33rd in Division 1 averaging 34.3 points per game. They also rank 15th in the nation averaging 481.8 yards of offense per contest.

Joey Aguilar has thrown for 1,225 yards while completing 60.4% of his passes, with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions this year. He has also used his scrambling to tally 132 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Nathaniel Noel has rushed for a team-high 638 yards and four scores on 124 carries. Kaedin Robinson leads the wide receiver room with 317 yards while finding the endzone three times. Christian Horn has also chipped in 15 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns.

In the past three matchups between these two teams, CCU has the edge with a 2-1 record over the Mountaineers. The Chants are 2-1 against the spread in those three games and the over has cashed once in the three contests. Coastal Carolina has outscored App State 96-81 in those three head-to-head matchups. The Chanticleers will head into this showdown 3-2 against the spread in the 2023 season. Coastal has been an underdog by five points or more two times this year and covered the spread once out of the two possible times. I am looking for the offenses to put up points and Grayson McCall to avenge his poor play this season. There is value in taking the six points in this matchup and the Chanticleers historically have played App State tough. This will be a one score game, take the points.
