Thursday Night Football Predictions: Seattle Seahawks vs Dallas Cowboys
What a wild week of football and food that was!
Betting the three big favorites on Turkey Day was a success, as two out of three came through for us. The Detroit Lions failed us, but the Niners and Cowboys won big over their division rivals.
This week's Thursday Night Football matchup features two teams we saw on Thanksgiving. I like that. They each have equal rest, and we get a Thursday primetime game with both squads having a week to prepare.
We saw the Seattle Seahawks get dusted by the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners are certainly back after losing three in a row about a month ago.
As for Seattle, they will be fighting for a playoff spot. Right now, at 6-5, they are the 2nd to last team in if the postseason started today. They have a talented team with a capable veteran quarterback who hardly ever beats himself.
If Seattle had struggled more in the first half of the season, I think they could have traded quarterback Geno Smith for some draft picks or excellent young talent. He is still slinging it, though.
They will travel to the Big D to play the Cowboys in the Jerry Dome, where the home team is a perfect 5-0 this season. Quarterback Dak Prescott is playing MVP-level football. And, who knows? He may win it. It's a wide-open race right now.
Dem' Boys will be the betting favorite, as you might have guessed, but you probably didn't guess the spread correctly. I know I didn't.
Let's check the betting odds for this Thursday Night Football matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys.

Seahawks vs Cowboys Betting Odds
Point Spread
Seattle: +9
Dallas: -9
Yes, you read that correctly. My initial thought is that this line is wide. I wish it were north of 10, and that would make our job a lot easier. The Seahawks lost 31-13 to the Niners last week but had two turnovers. So, without those, they probably score another touchdown.
The 49ers played their butts off, though. There's no shame in getting smoked by San Francisco. Just ask the Dallas Cowboys.

Seahawks vs Cowboys Betting Analysis
Geno Smith is playing through a bad shoulder/elbow right now, and his velocity is down. That was apparent against the 49ers and opposite the Dallas Cowboys, one of the league's best interception/sack attacks, it might be a long night for Smith.
Dallas ranks 2nd in the NFL in both sack percentage and interception percentage on defense. Add in 3rd in yards per play allowed and an all-important 2nd place in third down defense.
On offense, Prescott has never looked better in his career, and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is having an All-Pro season thus far. That vaunted offense ranks 1st in points/game, 7th in yards per play, and 2nd in both touchdowns per game and third down offensive efficiency.
Seattle is 27th and 29th in red zone offense and red zone defense, respectively. When you compare that to the Dallas stats of 2nd place and 2nd place, you start to see why the betting line is upwards of double digits.
The pros say not to bet double-digit favorites. Does that mean we are on the Cowboys here?
Well, they are coming off of a huge emotional win on a major holiday on television against their rival.
Seahawks vs Cowboys Betting Analysis
I can't get past those 3rd down stats. Also, the Seahawks are frauds. They beat the Browns, but when PJ Walker was playing. And other than the first game of the year when they got past the Lions, Seattle has only beaten the Redskins, the Cardinals, the Panthers, and the Giants.
That is what you call a cake schedule. We have all been giving Dallas a hard time for being a bully, but it appears the Seahawks are even worse.
Pick: Dallas (-9)
