Sunday Night Football Predictions: New York Jets vs Las Vegas Raiders
This Sunday night, the New York Jets, fresh off an ugly loss to the LA Chargers, travel to Sin City to play the Las Vegas Raiders. I thought maybe the Jets could score some points on the Chargers, but LA is healthier on the defensive side of the ball and playing with a renewed vigor.
Primetime unders are hitting at a 75% rate this season. I picked a couple of overs early on in the year, and those didn't hit. The sportsbooks adjusted the lines, but it didn't stop those final scores from going even lower.
We are yet to see any regression. It's a different game now. For a while there, offenses like the Kansas City Chiefs looked like they would dominate the league. The Chiefs are still elite, but they are an under team now that relies more on their defense than Patrick Mahomes moving the team up and down the field.
Edge rushers like Maxx Crosby of the Raiders are making life very difficult for opposing quarterbacks. He is currently just half of a sack off of the season lead. How many times does he throw Jets QB Zach Wilson to the ground on Sunday night?
Let’s check the betting odds and make a prediction for this matchup of two teams, who are poised to make a run at the playoffs.

Jets vs Raiders Betting Odds
Point Spread
Jets: -1 (-110)
Raiders: +1 (-110)
These betting odds opened at (-1.5) for the visiting Jets. We saw it get up to 2 and, in some places, 2.5 points, and now the money has come in on New York and their elite defense to win this one on the road.
It is a tough ask, but the Jets have no choice but to answer those tough questions week after week. After Aaron Rodgers went down on the first series of the year, there haven't been many easy steps for head coach Robert Saleh and his team.
He has done an incredible job with his team. Say what you will about the abilities and performances of Wilson. It has been an adventure, to say the least.
I don’t think there has been a game this year when the Jets just didn’t show up. Just about every team in the NFL has had one week when they didn’t bring it. Watching the Jets play, I have yet to see them sleepwalking through a game this season.
Las Vegas has been a little more up and down. Well, they were clearly at their highest after the firing of their head coach. The team played inspired ball last week, blowing out the struggling New York Giants.
They had cigars out after beating the Giants. Is this a let-down spot for the Raiders?
Moneyline
Jets: -120
Raiders: +110
If you like the Jets, you might as well take the moneyline. Zach Wilson isn't going to be a game-changer.
Point Total
Over 36: -110
Under 36: -110
How many?! Wow, these totals just keep creeping down. We might even see a 29 before the end of the year.
Jets vs Raiders Betting Analysis
Vegas is starting Aidan O’Connell under center this week. I know the Jets’ defense is already salivatory in their preparations. Does New York have a massive fan following like the Steelers did when they invaded Allegiant Stadium?
They don't, but they still might have more fans than the Raiders on Sunday night. I will follow the money to the side of the New York Jets this week. We could get burned by a team that still has a fire under them, but Las Vegas is the definition of an unforgiving town.
Jets vs Raiders Betting Prediction
If you’re overly happy about beating the Giants at home, you’re probably overly emotional. Emotions don’t last very long.
New York is a team that has at least been consistent this year. The Raiders, not so much.
Give me the New York Jets on the moneyline.
