We only have a couple of weeks left in the NFL’s 2023 regular season. Out of the 16 teams in the NFC, only 4 teams have clinched a berth in the playoffs. There are 3 teams sitting at 8-7 right now who would make the postseason if it were to begin today.

There are 5 more that are in the hunt. The first two teams out of playoff contention at the moment, are the bitter rivals, the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. They are each 7-8. So, there is virtually no room for error at this point.

The Vikings currently have a 31% chance to make the playoffs, while the Pack is sitting at 26%. Make no mistake. This Sunday Night Football game is a big one.

Packers vs Vikings Betting Odds

Point Spread

Minnesota: -2.5

Green Bay: +2.5

This betting line opened at (-1.5) for Minnesota, and it was quickly bet up to where it is now. You can still find some (-2)'s out there if you like the Vikings. This game is essentially a playoff game, as the loser is toast.

US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis will undoubtedly be a playoff atmosphere. I am not going to lie. I kinda like that for Packers' quarterback Jordan Love. He throws such a soft ball that I worry about a nasty December wind taking hold of what could have been one of his signature drops in the bucket.

They will be in the dome and on the turf. If the Packer receivers can get behind the Viking safeties, Love can be a game-changer with his touch over the top.

Right now, I like the value on Green Bay in this spot.

Moneyline

Minnesota: -130

Green Bay: +110

This moneyline is a bit close for a 2.5-point spread. That should tell you something. Raise your hand if you have faith in Nick Mullens. With 6 picks over his last two games, I sure don't.

Well, maybe he was just going up against good defenses these past two weeks. Give him a break. No. He played the #22 and #32 ranked defenses, and he threw 2 and 4 interceptions against them, respectively.

Under 46.5: -110

Signs point towards a shootout here on Sunday night, but I think the Green Bay Packer defense can slow down and probably pick a few off from the aforementioned Mullens.

Packers vs Vikings Betting Analysis

This game, in all likelihood, is going to play out closely. I can see either team winning by a field goal. This is a division game between two evenly matched teams.

The quarterback matchup is what jumps off the page to me.

We also have to go back to when these teams first met. It was played in Green Bay, of course, and the Vikings won big, 24-10, forcing Love into an inefficient day under center, throwing the ball 41 times for only 229 yards. He was outdueled by Captain Kirk Cousins, though, who will not be taking any more snaps in 2023 for the Vikings.

When I see that the Packers' strength is running the ball, and the Vikings have an even higher-rated run defense, I can see why Minnesota is the favorite. I just can't get behind the 4th quarterback they have had to play this year.

Mullens can sling it, but he is either snakebit and will hold onto the ball too long or if somehow some way he manages to forget about throwing 6 picks in his last 2 games, he is going to throw a few more.

Packers vs Vikings Betting Prediction

I suppose we should all do this in life, but I am putting my faith in Love to get this one done. I like Green Bay to win this one outright but take the 2.5 points. The odds of (-110) isn't that far away from the (+110) Packer moneyline.
