We are rapidly approaching the midway point of the NFL season, and both the NFL, and your office pool standings, are beginning to take shape. We strung together our second straight excellent week, going 11-4 ATS, moving our season record to 49-42-2, after going 10-4 in Week 5. Let’s keep the hot streak going, as here are your Against the Spread picks for Week 7.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5) Over New Orleans Saints
The Jaguars opened up as 3-point underdogs, but at any underdog price they are a great pick in Week 7. The Saints offense has scored more than 20 points only once this season, and that was against the lowly Patriots. The consistent offensive play from Jacksonville will lead them to their 4th straight victory. Jaguars 24, Saints 10
Atlanta Falcons (+2.5) Over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Falcons turned the ball over 3 times in their Week 6 loss to Washington, which spoiled their 402 yards of offense. Questionable quarterback play, combined with poor coaching, has prevented the Falcons from climbing up the standings, but they have proven they are good enough to keep this one close. Bakery Mayfield was under distress against the Lions defense, and the Falcons will be able to make him uncomfortable early and often. Falcons 20, Buccaneers 19
Buffalo Bills (-8.5) Over New England Patriots
The Bills managed to squeak out a victory over the Giants and will not be taking this one lightly. Meanwhile, the Patriots are an absolute disaster on both sides of the ball, and will struggle to put sustained drives together, as long as Josh Allen doesn’t give them short fields. This one could get ugly quick, as the Bills must keep pace with Miami atop the AFC East. Bills 37, Patriots 7
Cleveland Browns (-2.5) Over Indianapolis Colts
The Browns defense is not to be messed with. After shutting down the 49ers, it’s difficult to imagine Gardner Minshew and the Colts being able to get much going on offense. DeShaun Watson will be returning to the lineup and understands he cannot afford to throw away the opportunities his defense will give him. Too many things have to go right for the Colts to keep this close. Browns 20, Colts 10
Detroit Lions (+3) Over Baltimore Ravens
The Lions are one of the hottest teams in football, sporting a 13-3 record since Week 9 last season. The Ravens have been putting a solid season together, but inconsistent wide receiver play cost them against the Steelers, and it will do so again. I’m not stepping in front of a passionate, motivated Lions team who wants to show the league where they stand. This game will tell us a lot about both teams. Lions 27, Ravens 24
Las Vegas Raiders (-3) Over Chicago Bears
This matchup won’t be heavily viewed, but the Raiders are sitting at 3-3, with a fantastic chance to get to 4-3 in Week 7. Justin Fields is out, and the Bears offense won’t be anywhere near as effective without him. While Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury has thrown Brian Hoyer under center, that quarterback transition is way more seamless than writing an entire new playbook for Chicago. It won’t be pretty, but the Raiders get the win. Raiders 19, Bears 14
Washington Commanders (-2.5) Over New York Giants
This line is straight up disrespectful to Washington. The Commanders have not been playing up to their potential on both sides of the ball, yet they are 3-3. Sam Howell is playing smart football and isn’t forcing the ball down the field like he did earlier in the season. Meanwhile, the Giants are languishing at the bottom of the NFC East with a 1-5 record, thanks to throwing the game away against the Bills. Washington is better on both sides of the ball and should be nearly a touchdown favorite in my eyes. Commanders 27, Giants 11
Seattle Seahawks (-7.5) Over Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have seen Kyler Murray return to practice but are still far from being anywhere near the Seahawks level. While they don’t excel in any one category, the Seahawks are very well rounded, and have a top 10 defensive unit. Divisional games can always cause upsets, but I expect Geno Smith to robotically pick apart this vulnerable Cardinals defense. The backdoor cover scares me, but the Seahawks hold on for the narrow cover. Seahawks 24, Cardinals 16.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+3) Over LA Rams
The Steelers will lean on their elite defense to shut down the Rams suddenly potent offense. The return of Cooper Kupp has injected life in the limited Rams fans, but they struggled to put up points against the Eagles, the only solid defense they have faced. Kenny Pickett has his issues, but the Steelers always find ways to win games they shouldn’t. Once you factor in the extra rest from their bye week, this certainly feels like one of those times. Steelers 22, Rams 21
Green Bay Packers (-1) over Denver Broncos
The Packers have issues, but they are non-existent compared to what is going down in the Mile High City. A once formidable defense is no more, and Russell Wilson looks happy to shell up in the pocket, protect himself, and collect his paycheck. The Packers still have plenty to play for despite their 2-3 record, and they will be desperate to get back to .500 in Denver. Packers 28, Broncos 17
LA Chargers (+5.5) Over Kansas City Chiefs
This is a great time to buy low on the Chargers and sell high on the Chiefs. Justin Herbert looked like a shadow of his usual self on Monday Night. And if he can start making the throws we have seen him do throughout his career, the Chargers will be able to keep this one close. When it’s all said and done, Patrick Mahomes gets the last laugh, but falls short of the cover. Chiefs 31, Chargers 27
Miami Dolphins (+2.5) Over Philadelphia Eagles
The Dolphins cannot be stopped, and at an underdog price, they are a solid pick in Week 7. All eyes will be on this marquee matchup, and we haven’t seen Jalen Hurts play like his usual, confident self. After their shock loss to the Jets, the Eagles will be feeling extra pressure to perform, but are matching up against a historic Dolphins offense. Until someone figures out how to slow down Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, I won’t be stepping in front of Miami with lines like these. Dolphins 38, Eagles 31
San Francisco 49ers (-7) Over Minnesota Vikings
The 49ers did all they could to put themselves in a position to win against the Browns but missed a late field goal for the win. The sudden injuries to their best weapons in Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey allowed for the Browns to stay in the game. However, now that Kyle Shanahan has had time to assess the damage, he will have a solid game plan in place for the Vikings. 49ers 27, Vikings 15
