The 2023 NFL Regular Season is less than a month away! How many futures bets have you placed for the upcoming year?

I hope the answer is very many. These plays have the potential to last you for the entire season. So, why not?

I understand you don't want to dig into your life savings just yet. It's not even midseason. We do have some solid betting spots, though, for you today.

We can not only bet on which teams we think will win each of the eight NFL Divisions, but now we have odds on each team's probability to finish either 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, respectively.

We aren't going to bet on this one because the betting odds have too much juice, but for example, you can take the lowly Arizona Cardinals to finish last in the NFC West for (-275). If we thought they had a good chance at 3rd place, we would make a play, but I see them tanking until the end.

We will spare you the selection process of which bets to make. There are four different wagers you could make on every NFL team. Let's get to the NFL's best bets for a team's exact division finishing position.

Best Bets

Philadelphia Eagles Exact Finishing Position

1st: -125

2nd: +210

3rd: +600

4th: +1100

The Super Bowl runners-up enter the 2023 NFL season as the betting favorites. Not only to win the NFC East, but also to lead the way as the team to represent the conference in the big game.

As you can see, the Philadelphia Eagles are still quite affordable to take first place in the NFC East at (-125). There will be value seekers telling you to fade Philly this year. However, remember, this team was only four points away from being Super Bowl Champions.

Super Bowl winners tend to show regression, but I like the bitter taste left in the mouths of the Eagles to progress from the dominant team they were in 2022.

Philly has the easiest schedule in the NFC East to go along with an ever-improving quarterback. The rest of the division is likely going to be up for grabs and play out closely, but we favor Philadephia to fly high into the postseason.

Chicago Bears Exact Finishing Position

1st: +400

2nd: +275

3rd: +220

4th: +210

Are the Chicago Bears going to climb the proverbial stairs out of the basement of the NFC North Division?

Looking at the betting odds, the online sportsbooks aren't quite sure where exactly each of the four teams will finish. This affords us an opportunity to play the Chicago Bears to finish in a couple of different positions.

Most are expecting the Chicago Bears to win more than the three football games they did last year. They may need to double that total, though, to solidify their spot outside of the cellar.

The Detroit Lions wrapped up 2022 as one of the hottest teams in the NFL and are favored fairly heavily to finish atop the NFC North. That leaves the Minnesota Vikings and the new look Green Bay Packers.

Even though I project Jordan Love to have a solid season, as he is familiar with the system under head coach Mike LaFleur, the Pack is still a team in the rebuilding process.

What about the Minnesota Vikings? They lost star running back Dalvin Cook to free agency, and Captain Kirk Cousins is definitely on his way out. The former Michigan State Spartan turns 35 this week, and I am fading him along with the Vikings in 2023.

Does this mean we are taking the Bears to finish 2nd in the NFC North? No.

We may feel super silly if they do, but I like taking them to finish 4th and 3rd at (+220) and (+210), respectively. If we bet equal amounts on each play, a win will guarantee us more than 100% return on our investment.

Justin Fields will likely show out, but let's just hope he doesn't play the Bears into 2nd place.

In Conclusion

These are fun wagers. We can almost guarantee they will last us until the final weeks of the NFL regular season.

As for which one I like better, it’s hard to argue against betting on the Bears to finish either 3rd or 4th in the NFC North. Even though we are making two wagers, our ROI would still be higher than if we bet the same amount on the Eagles to again soar above the NFC East.
