The NFL's No. 1 defense and top-five offense from a year ago, the San Francisco 49ers, once again have high hopes to play in the Super Bowl. They fell short last year to the Philadelphia Eagles, but a late-season injury to their quarterback essentially spelled the end for the Niners.

Speaking of that quarterback, Brock Purdy is coming off of surgery on that injured elbow in the offseason, and the team and fans have incredibly high hopes for him in 2023.

I don't know if we can buy all the hype, though. Purdy had a great run to end last season, but he did play the Cardinals, Commanders, Raiders, and Buccaneers over that stretch. Opposing defenses weren't ready for him, but now have a decent sample size of game tape to analyze heading into this season.

We have seen this story before, and sometimes, the Purdy's of the NFL disappear faster than they came across our radar.

Fortunately for the young gunslinger, he is playing for possibly the most complete team in football. The 49ers are loaded everywhere. It will be interesting to see how Purdy performs in his sophomore season.

One player I am not worried about is running back Christian McCaffrey. More on him in a moment.

San Francisco 49ers Score 1+ TD in Every Regular Season Game: +100

If I didn't think you wanted to read more today, I would say to snipe this one and go home with a return on your investment of 100%.

This is a betting play I love, but admittedly, it is love at first sight. So, let's set aside the surge of oxytocin and do our best to disprove this one.

San Francisco does have to play three defenses projected to be Top 10 in the league. These are the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Commanders.

The 49ers are too complete, though. The head coach is an offensive mastermind.

Road games against the NFC East in December may bring inclement weather, but these betting odds don't say offensive touchdowns only. So, a pick-six or scoop and score will count.

Christian McCaffrey to Lead the NFL in Yards from Scrimmage: +600

I don't know if I want to fade Purdy this season, but I think the stats of McCaffrrey are safe whether the quarterback excels or not.

Purdy will have to lean heavily on his All-Pro running back, especially early in the season. Opposing defenses will have some things figured out, and head coach Kyle Shannahan knows this.

If the young QB had a young coach, they may double down on airing it out. However, why throw the ball when you don't need to? McCaffrey is about as good of an offensive centerpiece as you can get in the NFL, and San Francisco will continue to play through him.

What other players could challenge the Niners back for this honor?

Last year, only Josh Jacobs and Derrick Henry finished ahead of him. Henry is expected to regress significantly in 2023. Jacobs is still a beast, and the Cleveland Browns' Nick Chubb is as well. For a 6-1 payout, however, I will take the player targeted 3x as much in the passing game.

Christian McCaffrey to Have 100+ Rushing Yards in 8+ Games: +400

What I like about these odds is that McCaffrey doesn't have to compete with Chubb or Jacobs. What I don't like about them is the odds are based solely on his rush yards. There isn't a better dual-threat running back in the NFL.

Has he ever accomplished this feat, though, of 100 or more rushing yards in 8+ games?

He has not. The back has done it five and six times, respectively. So, eight is quite the ask. We mentioned the schedule earlier, highlighting the offenses' most difficult weeks ahead. What about weak run defenses on the Niners' schedule?

The entire NFC West is weak against the run. That's six games right there. The Giants and the Browns are on there as well. I like his chances for this bet.
