The Jacksonville Jaguars have been steadily improving for years. They have had a strong defense for a long time, and last season, the Jags were one of the league's most well-balanced teams.

Their offense ranked ninth in yards/play, while the defense was 14th in the league in the same statistic. They have played spoiler many times in recent years, but this could be the season we finally see the Jaguars in the conversation as an elite team.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was the No 1 overall draft pick in 2021. He started every game for the Jags that year. He threw more interceptions than touchdowns. That's just fine, though. He didn't break Peyton Manning's rookie INT record.

What made 2021 a success, though, for the Jacksonville Jaguars, was the 2022 season. The team relied heavily on the passing game as they threw the ball 60% of the time, and Lawrence tossed 25 touchdowns with just eight picks.

Calvin Ridley or Travis Etienne to Have 1250+ Yards from Scrimmage: +100

Calvin Ridley is back after being indefinitely suspended by the league's brass when he illegally placed a sports bet on an app.

The NFL stands for "Not for long" if that's the rule you decide to break. The league has reinstated him, thankfully. I am all for second chances in life.

Insert the Jacksonville Jaguars. They needed a more dangerous receiver to lengthen or stretch opposing defenses, and they moved on Ridley.

He has been limited at practice recently with a sore toe. However, when he is at his best, the guy is electric. He has reached 1,250 yards before and has an outside shot to do it this year.

Travis Etienne, though, is primed for a super sophomore season. The former Clemson star had 1,441 yards from scrimmage in his rookie year. With the Jaguars only running the ball 30% of the time last season, I project them to move toward 50% this year, with Etienne carrying the majority of the load.

Jacksonville Jaguars to Score 1+ TD in Every Regular Season Game: +100

Ridley is a wild card, and Etienne could get hurt, but they are deep at their skill positions, especially wideout.

The team is led by an ever-improving quarterback and an above-average defense that will give them enough short fields to work with for us to cash this bet.

Travis Etienne 150+ Rushing Yards in Any Regular Season Game: +175

Etienne has been a burner since birth and has yet to slow down whatsoever.

He was clocked at 20+MPH six times, which was first among running backs and second in the NFL only to Justin Fields.

Etienne eclipsed the 150-yard mark only once last season, but he wasn't consistently getting a high number of carries per game. I do not foresee the Jaguars continuing to pass-to-run in 2023. They will be a much more balanced offense if they run the ball more.

They averaged 4.9 yards/carry as a team, which was good enough for top five in the league.

Travis Etienne to Have 100+ Yards Rushing in 8+ Regular Season Games: +600    

We are not as confident in this one, but, hey, it's 6 to 1. That carries an implied probability of less than 15%. So, all we need to say is Etienne hits this goal one out of every five seasons.

We already told you that we are projecting the young man to progress in his second season in the NFL. Running for more than 100 yards in at least eight games is a stretch. However, did I mention their schedule?

I have seen it ranked around 15th easiest. Their division stinks, though, and they play the entire NFC South. The Jags play Baltimore, KC, San Francisco, and Cincy, but none of these games will be played on the opposing team's field.

Difficult road games are few and far between for the Jags, as they travel to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and nowhere else scary. They project to be road favorites in every other contest.
