Circa Sportsbook Plans Partnership for the MLB’s Athletics in Las Vegas

Oakland Athletics move to Las Vegas

The Oakland Athletics are busy planning a move to Las Vegas, and Circa Sportsbook is thrilled with the partnership with the MLB’s team. Las Vegas casino owner Derek Stevens is “absolutely” interested in partnering with the A’s as soon they are in town. He is part of the ownership of Circa, the D Vegas and Golden Gate, which are casinos and sportsbooks situated in downtown Las Vegas.

Stevens attended a meeting with north Las Vegas Strip and downtown officials to review stadium plans on the A’s in February of this year. He recently commented in the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

“We love what we’ve done with other sports teams here, it’s had a big impact on our business. We’re obviously a bit more sports-oriented than other casinos. That’s why we’re enthusiastic about Major League Baseball coming here.”

The A’s have entered into an agreement with Stations Casino to buy 49 acres of land in the former Wild Wild West Casino site. The development of the property will be at Tropicana and Dean Martin Boulevard. The north Strip and downtown casino owners would certainly support the MLB team’s plan to build a $1 billion ballpark to this part of Las Vegas. Circa’s Stevens would be leading the list.

Stevens has been a serious advocate of sports teams in the Las Vega area. The Circa Sportsbook’s Stadium Swim is a big part of the crowds and the celebrations with the over-size LED-screen layout at this place. He imagines that Major League Baseball could thrive in Las Vegas with the team having 81 home games in the spring and summer.

Stevens’ Successful Track Record of Partnering with Sports Teams

As the city’s reputation of being the “Entertainment and Sports Capital of the World,” the potential for a new MLB’s ballpark should be a major attraction of visitors to Las Vegas along with the local residents in the area.

President of Resorts World Las Vegas Scott Sibella has confirmed that moving the MLB A’s to Las Vegas has generated meetings of the north Strip and downtown owners. Stevens has been proactive in planning the next step in the process of having the team officially here.

March Madness Comes to Las Vegas’ Retail Sportsbooks

While the MLB’s Athletics does not include moving the team from Oakland to Las Vegas until the 2025 season, Nevada enjoyed an uptick in March’s sports betting handle and in-state sportsbooks’ revenue from the previous month this year.

Nevada’s mobile sports betting volume in March was nearly 65% of the total handle and the retail trade was over 35%. This ratio of sports betting volume among the state is due to Las Vegas land-based casinos that have retail sportsbooks. Las Vegas land-based casinos with retail sportsbooks have to be happy that another professional team is coming to town. The MLB’s Oakland A’s agreeing to relocate to Las Vegas is an example of the importance in retail betting on sports games.
