NASCAR racing is back and it starts at the Los Angeles Coliseum in the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. This is one of the world's most iconic venues and we'll be seeing lots of action on this .25 mile track. This first year this took place was 2022 and it was a smashing success. We have no doubt that the 2023 version will also hold up. This race leads into Speedweeks at Daytona and it should be a fun one. The Daytona 500 will be the first race of the season that will reward drivers with points towards the playoffs and it's one of the biggest races of the season. That said, this race should still be action packed and a good time.

The reigning series champion is Joey Logano and he'll be hoping for a repeat performance this weekend. However, it won't be an easy feat as all 36 drivers that race full-time will be competing this weekend. 27 of those drivers will fight it out for the win after they go through heat races to see who gets to go for the checkered flag.

This weekend will also mark the first race in which Kyle Busch will be racing for Richard Childress Racing. He joins Joey Logano in this race as a two time winner of this outing. Three-time winners include Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin. Kevin Harvick announced that this will be his last season with Stewart Haas Racing as he plans to ride off into the sunset and retire.

2022 NASCAR Recap

Just as Joey Logano come into the current race as one of the favorites, he was also the winner of the 2022 NASCAR Championship. He finished the season having four wins in the regular season as well as winning four poles. He also finished with 11 top-5 finishes for the season and 17 top-10 finishes. Finishing only six points behind Logano was ross Chastain who finished with 5,034 points with two wins and no pole wins. He finished in the top-5 on 15 occasions and in the top-10 in 21 races. The third place finisher in the 2022 NASCAR season was Christopher Bell with three wins, four pole wins, 12 top-5 finishes and 20 top-10 finishes.

There are a few drivers that I think could take the checkered flag, but Joey Logano is one of the odds-on favorites for a reason. He won this race last season, won the NASCAR championship and is coming into this season looking to add on to him impressive run. For these reasons, I like Logano in this race.
