It is now Week 8 in the NFL, and we are looking to return to our winning ways and move our basic strategy teaser record to 5-3 with a nice (-120) payout to add to your Black Friday fund.

On Monday morning of this week, there were 9 potential teams to tease using the basic strategy. The market has helped narrow it down for us with 5 games that we can tease.

So, what am I talking about? Let's answer that and move on to our Week 8 basic strategy teaser odds and predictions.

What is a Teaser?

We don’t generally recommend parlays here, but a teaser is a type of parlay bet where the bettor can manipulate the betting odds in their favor. You find a team that you like to win against the spread, and you give them 6 more points.

There are 7 and 10-point teasers available. However, today, I want to talk to you about our basic strategy for 6-point teaser bets in the NFL.

What is a Basic Strategy Teaser?

The first rule to this strategy is that we only tease two teams, and that will pay out at (-120). It used to pay at (-110), but sportsbooks realized they were getting hosed a bit and adjusted the line.

It needs to be in the NFL. College games have much higher point totals and point spreads. The bigger the point differential in a football game, the lower the significance of the 6 points we bought.

The key to the basic strategy teaser is that we want our 6 points that we buy from the sportsbook to pass through the key numbers of 3 and 7. These two key numbers are the most common point differentials in NFL games.

Nearly one-fourth of all NFL games end with a difference of either 3 or 7 points. If you add in the key number of 6, then we are up close to 30% of all final scores. We want to tease through these numbers.

If we have a betting favorite of (-7.5) to (-8.5), we will tease them down to favorites of just (-1.5) to (-2.5). For an underdog, we are looking for betting odds of (+1.5) to (+2.5) and tease them up to dogs of (+7.5) to (+8.5).

Let’s jump into the potential Week 8 games where we can use the basic strategy for our teaser prediction.

Potential Week 8 Teaser Games

New Orleans Saints (+1.5) at Indianapolis Colts (-1.5)

I would say the Saints are probably going to keep this game low-scoring, but wow, did the Colts score a ton versus the Browns defense last week. I like the zone defense against Gardner Minshew, though. He is night and day against man-to-man or zone.

The zone also limits his ability to scramble. New Orleans isn't a terrible play here, but Indy is coming off of a game they really should have won against Cleveland if it weren't for some fishy calls late in the 4th quarter.

I don't mind the Saints here, but they are an offense that has struggled for the entire season.

Kansas City Chiefs (-8) at Denver Broncos (+8)

These two teams just played each other less than two weeks ago, and boy was it ugly. The Chiefs' defense shut the Broncos out for the majority of the game. That KC defense may be the best in football.

I think that is the most interesting conversation to have in the NFL right now. Who has the best defense in the league?

It was the Denver defense, however, that was the star of the show a couple of weeks ago. They made Patrick Mahomes look even more human. I am not sure if that happens again, though.

Baltimore Ravens (-8) at Arizona Cardinals (+8)

Betting on the Ravens just sounds right. This has all the makings of a trap game for the Ravens, except for the fact that Baltimore has one of the best head coaches in the league.

This is a team that has improved as the year has progressed. I’m very happy putting them in my teaser to win by a field goal. Arizona is the worst second half team in the league, and it will show on Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) at Tennessee Titans (+2.5)

Both teams play very close games. I'm tempted to bet the Titans at (+8.5).

Las Vegas Raiders (+8.5) at Detroit Lions (-8.5)

If the Detroit Lions can't beat the Raiders in the Motor City by a field goal…Okay, let me stop before I jinx it.

Vegas is about to fire their coach, and I don't think the team is rallying around the guy this week. Give me Detroit is a monster bounce-back performance at home.
