NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 6
This past week, I was disappointed with some teams who couldn’t get it together. The Dolphins and Jaguars gave me a big headache as they played some of the worst football I have seen all year. The surprise of the week was the Giants upsetting the Packers in London. The favorite pick of the previous week was the Cowboys, as they took the game away from the Rams.
This week we have only 14 games on the slate, as bye weeks have started in the NFL. We have some upset picks as they are good plus money and are also perfect to pick in survivor pools if you haven’t used them yet.
A new week of the NFL is in our near future. So, without further hesitation, here are our Week 6 NFL confidence pool picks. As a reminder, these will be ranked from strongest to weakest. All picks are straight up and don’t involve the point spread, so these picks can be valuable for NFL survivor pools and moneyline betting.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Los Angeles Rams (-490) over Carolina Panthers: Worth 14 points
The Panthers are a pathetic team that is playing way below their expectations for the season. The offense is complete trash. The Panthers have only one win this entire season, and it came against a Saints team plagued with injuries. The Rams are starting to catch some stride as they are figuring out their identity. Let's back the Rams here as they are the better team on both sides of the ball.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-385) over Pittsburgh Steelers: Worth 13 points
The Bucs are going to make this a quick pit stop in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are horrible. And with T.J. Watt out in the meantime, the defense can’t play up to its strengths, which is pass rush. There’s not too much to analyze here. We are taking the better team over the worse team. These two teams are heading in two different directions as a franchise. The Steelers are heading south, while the Bucs are propelling for another playoff run.
Green Bay Packers (-333) over New York Jets: Worth 12 points
The Packers are in the perfect revenge spot here as they are coming off a loss against the Giants. This is the perfect position for Aaron Rodgers to get back on his feet here. That loss was a stunner for the Packers organization, but that’s what happens when you play mediocre football against hungry teams. The Jets are another team that is hungry and coming off a good weekend. Look for Rodgers and the defense to dominate this week as they usually play elite football at home. The Jets have overachieved, and I'm not a believer yet. If they walk away with a win here, then I’ll reevaluate the way I think about them.
Philadelphia Eagles (-227) over Dallas Cowboys: Worth 11 points
These are two of the hottest teams in football. The Eagles are the only undefeated team in the NFL, while the Cowboys are currently on a five-game winning streak with their QB2. This pick is us betting the hot hand and also against the political issues that are going to go on in the Cowboys locker room. Dak Prescott might be cleared to play this week. And if that happens, a lot of people are going to be picking sides on who they want to start between Cooper Rush and Dak Prescott. The Eagles take this game
Baltimore Ravens (-230) over New York Giants: Worth 10 points
The Giants pulled off the biggest upset of the week as they took a game from the Packers. The Giants have been doing extremely well this season with a 4-1 record. Now it’s time for the ultimate test, the Ravens. The Ravens are dominant right now, only losing to the Bills powerhouse and a strong Dolphins unit. The Ravens are more than prepared for this game, and Lamar Jackson is fighting for a huge contract -- expect him to show off this game. The Ravens will have no problem handling the Giants in New York.
Los Angeles Chargers (-230) over Denver Broncos: Worth 9 points
The Chargers are going to come away with this game, as the Broncos don’t know what type of offense that they want to play. They have horrible play calling issues, and Russell Wilson has been playing below his levels of expectations. Justin Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and can expose any defense. The Chargers have a solid defense as well, and let's look for them to make this a fast-paced game while the Broncos struggle to keep up.
San Francisco 49ers (-240) over Atlanta Falcons: Worth 8 points
The 49ers are looking solid as their defense has been doing some good work. The defense shut down a strong Rams team and did its job against the Panthers. Look for the defense to continue its dominance. The Falcons are underrated, and they are a promising team as everyone wrote them off. However, the 49ers will win this game as they can control both sides of the ball.
Minnesota Vikings (-154) over Miami Dolphins: Worth 7 Points
The Vikings are looking solid as an offense, while the Dolphins looked like crap last week. There are huge question marks hovering over the quarterback position for the Dolphins, as Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater are in the concussion protocol. Let’s roll with the Vikings as they will have a healthy offense and will outscore the Dolphins this week.
Cincinnati Bengals (-125) over New Orleans Saints: Worth 6 points
The Bengals have been playing mediocre thus far, holding a 2-3 record. The offensive line is garbage and has not given Joe Burrow the time needed to find his talented receivers. However, I’m still backing the Bengals over the Saints as they have not been the same since Drew Brees retired. This Saints team has struggled moving the ball down the field. They had a good offensive week against a terrible Seahawks team, but I'll be surprised if they duplicate that against the Bengals.
Buffalo Bills (-149) over Kansas City Chiefs: Worth 5 points
This is usually one of the most exciting matchups in football every year. The Bills will come away with a win here as they are the best football team in the NFL. Josh Allen can’t be stopped, and this Bills team has one of the best front sevens. Patrick Mahomes is a wizard with the football, but it will take some real magic to come away with this one. I will keep backing Josh Allen until the wheels fall off the bus. However, this is not a game to focus on as this game seems to be a coin flip, as the Chiefs can score at will as well. If you set your eyes on this game, take the Bills.
Arizona Cardinals (-149) over Seattle Seahawks: Worth 4 points
I don't like this game at all, as both teams are bad. The Seahawks currently have more weapons on offense, and Geno Smith has been doing an okay job of handling his duties as QB1. I'm taking the Cardinals in this game as they have been playing good defense and keeping games close. Kyler Murray is a better leader than Smith. And if given the proper opportunity, he makes the big plays. If the Cardinals score three or more touchdowns, they will come away with this win easily. I bank on them to win this game, as they almost took down the Eagles this past weekend.
Washington Commanders (+100) over Chicago Bears: Worth 3 points
The Commanders are the better team, as they have shown they can compete on both sides of the ball. The Commanders have a good pass rush and can move the ball quickly. This is simple for me. I will fade the Bears as they can't win games. They need better protection for Justin Fields, and some weapons for him to throw the ball to. The Commanders will win this game without a doubt as they got more weapons returning from the injury list.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+115) over Indianapolis Colts: Worth 2 points
The Jaguars played a horrible game against the Texans, which was one of the ugliest games of the week. The Jaguars will get back on their feet this week as they play against the shorthanded Colts. Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines will miss this weekend due to injury. One of the strengths of the Colts is their dominant backfield, but they will enter this game without their talented half backs. The Jaguars will come with a game plan as they already have taken a win away from the Colts this season. Let’s bank on the sweep for this divisional matchup.
New England Patriots (+135) over Cleveland Browns: Worth 1 point
The Patriots took down the Lions on Sunday by completely shutting them down. The Patriots defense has been doing their thing, causing offenses to struggle greatly as of late. Jacoby Brissett used to be a Patriot, and this plays a lot into this decision. Bill Belichick knows the weaknesses of all his former quarterbacks. Let him use that to his advantage, and also the Patriots have a really strong run defense, which will hold the Browns to passing more passing downs.
