NCAA Football Predictions: Week 3 Report, Best Bets and Picks
What a wild Week 2 in college football. So many upsets and close matchups. Two Top 10 teams got upset, Texas nearly pulled off one of the best upsets in recent college football history, and Marshall Football was trending on Twitter. Let’s review our picks from last week and go from there.
Doc’s Sports offers college football expert picks for every game on our college football predictions page.
Our first pick of “Cam’s College 3 Best Bets” was Florida to cover their -4.5 spread or just outright win. We missed the target here with Kentucky upsetting the Gators 26-16 in a low scoring affair. The Gators didn’t score once after half, which in college football will lead to a loss 99% of the time. The Wildcats were extremely dominant in the second half of the game, giving up only 91 yards to Florida.
After this pick, we went on a nice streak, hitting well on Louisville covering the +6.5 vs Central Florida. The Cardinals won outright, 20-14. The Cardinals dug deep and survived a close contest. A nice upset W for spread and defiantly moneyline bettors. Our next Best Bets pick was Arkansas to cover the -8 spread over South Carolina, winning 44-30, bringing us to 2 out of 3 on our three Best Bet Picks. We chose two other games in our “Other Picks I Like” section, and went 1 for 2, hitting on Kansas upsetting West Virginia (55-42) and missed on Baylor covering BUY +3.5 by 2.5 points, losing 26-20. If we just had a field goal more in that game, we would have covered the spread and gone 4/5 total on the slate. We improved from 50% correct picks Week 1 to 60% hits for Week 2. Let’s keep the trend going and go for an 80+% hit rate this week.
Cam’s College 3 Best Bets
Buffalo (+14) vs Coastal Carolina (-14) Saturday 1 P.M. EST
After last week’s devastating loss to Holy Cross, the Bulls start the season 0-2. With QB Cole Snyder taking strides in the right direction, I believe this week is a great week to bet on Buffalo. This doesn’t mean for Buffalo to win, but with a two-touchdown cushion at +14, I like it a lot. The Bulls have only played Coastal Carolina once in recent years, which was last year in 2021. Coastal Carolina won the game 28-25 in a well fought battle from both teams. Coaching, players, and fans of Buffalo know they need a win, so I believe this game will come down to a touchdown score difference, safely covering the 14-point spread.
Pick: Buffalo Bulls +14 to cover
Rutgers (-17.5) VS Temple (+17.5) Saturday 2 P.M. EST
Rutgers and Temple have met eight times since 2000. With the most recent five victories going to Rutgers. Last September, when the two teams met, Rutgers dominated, winning 61-14. I believe they will win by the 17.5 point spread come Saturday.
Pick: Rutgers win by more than -17.5
Miami (+6) vs Texas A&M (+6) Saturday 9 P.M. EST
No. 13 Miami takes on no. 24 Texas A&M Saturday night. With an 2-0 start to the season, Miami looks to maintain momentum and go 3-0 to start 2022. Texas A&M is in emergency red mode The Aggies are averaging just 22.5 points through two weeks. Taking Miami with the points seems to be the popular pick here, and I’m rocking with it.
Pick: Miami +6
Other Picks I like:
Michigan State (+3.5) to cover vs Washington
Penn State (-2.5) vs Auburn ML Bet Win for Penn State
