Coming off a very recent 11-game win streak, the Astros vaulted to the top of the American League West. Justin Verlander and Jose Altuve are leading the charge for the Astros and have been incredible. A team oozing with experience, the Astros have been especially hot for the moneyline at home, going 10-4, the second-best home record in the MLB.

Cold Moneyline Teams

Boston Red Sox 16-22

I know the Red Sox are 6-4 in their last 10, but I want to focus on games where the Red Sox are favorites, since more value as a bettor can be found. The Red Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 games as favorite. After being two games away from the World Series last year, the high expectation of Boston fans and overvalued odds by bookies, this recipe has made the Red Sox a good team to make money against. Continue to keep close tabs, because the Red Sox have the players in place to make a drastic turn around this season.

Colorado Rockies 18-19

After an unprecedented start, the Rockies have come back down to reality, and quite hard. The absence of Kris Bryant for the last month can be to blame as would a tough division or maybe difficulty hitting in opponents’ parks. Nevertheless, the Rockies are a team looking like they are heading for a rebuild and have lost all the swagger of early April. The bullpen has also been no help, In the last 10 games, the ‘pen has surrendered 19 earned runs in 27.2 innings of work (6.29 ERA).  This recent collapse has led to the Rockies’ relievers to be dead last in the Major League in ERA (5.40), WHIP (1.54), and batting average (.265).

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles are 9-1 in their last 10 games as underdog when it comes to runline. Despite being on the losing end most nights, the Orioles have proven to keep themselves in games and even with some of the best teams in the league. They most recently went 3-1 against the Yankees on the runline.

San Diego Padres

Manny Machado looks like the best player in baseball right now. The 29-year-old entered the weekend with an absurd .371/.451/.605 slash line, playing strong defense and walking (12.5%) nearly as much as he strikes out (17.4%). The San Diego Padres lineup is going to be especially dangerous once Fernando Tatís Jr. returns. The Padres have been especially good on the road this season, posting a 14-7 record the second best in baseball and going 5-0 in their last five road games in runline bets.

Cold Runline Teams

Washington Nationals

Run Line Record 15-24

Washington is the worst run line team in the MLB, and it is not even close. In their last 12 games, they are 3-9 in runline bets and are backed by an atrocious defense and extremely inconsistent offense. They’ve scored three or fewer 21 times and are 2-19 when they do that. To add to their struggles, The Nats also have a knack for making their outs maximally painful. Twelve of their runners have been thrown out at third or home. No other team has more than 10; the average is five.

Hot Over Teams

Colorado Rockies

O/U 21-15-1

The Rockies play in the most batter friendly ballpark in the major leagues, add this together with their recent bullpen struggles and above average bats, and it is a recipe for an 8-2 record in their last 10 games on the Over.

Atlanta Braves

O/U 21-15-2

A record of 11-4-1 in their last 16 games for the Over makes the Braves a very hot pick right now. As a team, the Braves are struggling, coming off a World Series win, the Braves are most recently 18th in the MLB power rankings. The absence of Ronald Acuna Jr. has been tough on the club. The Braves have still been able to participate in high scoring affairs whether good or bad.

Hot Under Teams

Houston Astros

O/U 11-27

Going Under in 10 of their last 13 games, it makes sense for one of the hottest teams in baseball. Playing in not a very friendly hitter’s park and getting outstanding effort from the bullpen has led to a very defensive minded Astros squad.

Pittsburgh Pirates

O/U 14-19-4

The Pirates scored 2.4 runs a game last week and went 4-3. It helps when Zach Thompson is putting together hitless outings and José Quintana has an ERA that starts with a two. It also helps when you pick up a win despite getting no-hit. The Pirates are 3-7 in their last 10 on the over.
