Free NBA Picks Milwaukee Bucks: Season-Long Handicapping and Specialization 10/31/2022
Throughout the NBA season, I will be breaking down each weekday Milwaukee Bucks game and giving out my best bets for each contest. This will include moneylines, spreads, totals, and player props. By using my in-depth knowledge on the Bucks, and the rest of the league, we will be able to churn a solid profit come the end of the season. While we may not go 3-0 every night, through consistent, selective gambling, we will be able to stay in the green. Let’s get into it.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
The lone remaining undefeated team is taking on the Detroit Pistons in a quest to improve their record to 6-0. The Milwaukee Bucks have gotten off to a torrid start and show no signs of slowing down. On Saturday night, the Bucks took down the Hawks by a score of 123-115, led by Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo, putting up 34 points each. Prior to that, the Bucks took down the Knicks, by a score of 119-108, led by… you know who -- Antetokounmpo putting up 30 points.
From a betting standpoint, we went 1-2 in the Knicks game, cashing the moneyline, but losing out to the Under 223 and Over 6.5 Assists for Jalen Brunson.
The Bucks welcome Detroit to Fiserv Forum as 13-point favorites over the 2-5 Pistons. The Pistons are coming off an impressive win over the Golden State Warriors last night, snapping a 5-game losing skid. The Pistons operate under a two-pronged attack of Bojan Bogdanovic and Cade Cunningham, putting up 22.7 and 22.6 PPG this season, respectively. However, make no mistake, it’s Cunningham who is the leader of this franchise.
Cunningham was drafted 1st overall in 2021, and had an impressive rookie season, putting up 17.4 PPG to go along with 5.6 Assists. While this wasn’t enough for him to win ROY honors, it gave the Pistons enough confidence to hand the keys of the franchise over and start a rebuild centered around the young star.
Cunningham and the Pistons are in for one of the most difficult tests in the NBA visiting Milwaukee, and Antetokounmpo has looked borderline unstoppable. He has put up 34.4 PPG through the first five games of the season and has been crashing the glass with 14.0 RPG. While all this scoring has helped the Bucks win games, it’s their defense that has been the real difference-maker. Allowing a mere 103.0 PPG will keep the Bucks in any contest. And considering they have a solid offensive unit to go along with it, it’s no surprise the Bucks continue to dominate.
In this matchup, it’s very difficult to envision anything but a routine Bucks win. Holiday will be able to comfortably lock down Cunningham and will leave the Pistons in a very difficult position. While Bogdanovic has been effective, he is less of a playmaker and more of a sharpshooter. Without an effective Cunningham, Bogdanovic will get the ball while open less often, and that will result in a very stagnant Pistons offense. One key player for the Pistons will be 20-year-old Jaden Ivey. The ex-Purdue guard will have a more favorable matchup on the offensive end. And after posting 15.2 PPG on .458% shooting through the start of his rookie campaign, has earned the trust of his teammates.
Another factor playing against the Pistons is the fact they are on a back-to-back, against the Warriors and Bucks no less. The fatigue and ‘hangover’ from beating the defending champions in front of the Pistons faithful may see the Pistons accept defeat here easier.
For the Bucks, a critical aspect of this matchup is the mental game. The Bucks know they should be able to beat this Pistons team, especially with a rest advantage. However, they cannot take the game easily… these are still all professional, highly skilled NBA players.
In this game, I expect a Bucks blowout. Despite taking down the Warriors last night, the Pistons will be no match for the Bucks here. Holiday is playing with tenacity on both ends of the court, and Antetokounmpo has gotten even better this year, just when we thought that wasn’t possible. The unity this team has up and down the roster is what is needed to compete for an NBA championship.
The first bet for tonight comes against the spread. While a 13-point spread is always daunting, especially once the starters leave the court late, taking the Bucks -13 will be my first bet tonight. I simply cannot expect the Pistons to keep it close and expect them to stay in double digits in scoring. The Bucks kept the Knicks and 76ers under the 100-point mark, and the Pistons are a tier down from these franchises. Unless a role player steps up bigtime, this game will be decided early.
The second bet for tonight is Bojan Bogdanovic Under 17.5 Points. Bogdanovic has posted 21+ points in each of his last 4 games but is due for a letdown here. Bogdanovic has benefited from numerous open shots from behind the arc, and a .509 3-point percentage to go along with it. His hot hand will certainly come to an end. And against the top defensive unit in the league, it feels as though tonight is the night. Cunningham will be unable to create the open looks Bogdanovic is used to, and this will lead to Under 17.5 points for him.
The starters will sit for virtually the whole 4th quarter, as the Bucks win the game by something close to a 122-98 scoreline.
