Free NBA Picks Milwaukee Bucks: Season-Long Handicapping and Specialization 10/28/2022
Throughout the season, I will be breaking down each Milwaukee Bucks game, and giving out my best bets. These can come in the form of spreads, totals, moneylines, and player props. They will not always be favoring the Bucks, rather the goal is to use the knowledge on this team, and the entire league, to churn a profit this season.
Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.
The Bucks improved to 3-0 on Wednesday night, taking down the Brooklyn Nets, 110-99. Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a game high 43 points, going 16/25 from the field. He continues to show he is one of the best in the NBA. And as long as he plays at this level, the Bucks will be a tough out every single night. Joining in on the defensive end was Brook Lopez, posting 6 blocks, improving his record to 11 blocks in the last 2 games. They remain the only undefeated team in the league. And once Khris Middleton returns, will transform into an unstoppable force.
From a betting standpoint, we went 2-0 last game. The Under 233 hit with ease, and Over 29.5 points for Kevin Durant hit after Durant put up 33 in the losing effort. Looking to keep up the momentum against the Knicks, and without further ado, let’s get into it.
The Bucks are welcoming the Knicks to Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee and are entering the contest as 6-point favorites. The Knicks have gotten off to a hot start this season, winning 3 straight after dropping the opener in Memphis. While wins are wins, beating teams like the Pistons, Magic, and Hornets don’t necessarily tell us where this Knicks team stands.
There is hope in New York, as the Knicks made some big offseason moves to bolster their lineup, such as importing Jalen Brunson from the Mavericks. Brunson has settled in nicely, putting up 20.0 PPG to go along with 8.5 APG. The ball handling ability added to the lineup, coupled with a .517 shooting percentage, instantly makes Brunson a key player for the franchise.
Brunson will be facing one of his toughest tests to date, as the tenacious Jrue Holiday will be looking to lock him down. Holiday is one of the top defenders in The Association and consistently is able to limit star guards from heating up. This will force the ball out of Brunson’s hands and may lead to the Knicks role players taking more shots.
The Knicks are a budding franchise but are missing the ‘Big 3’ needed to succeed. Brunson certainly helps, but big man Julius Randle has failed to replicate his MIP performances from the 2020-2021 campaign. Randle is a competent big man, and fills the role needed in that position, but has not been able to take the next step and deliver in big moments. His chemistry with Brunson will be critical for the Knicks long-term success, but I don’t think in Milwaukee against the Bucks is the place it will shine.
Antetokounmpo is a former DPOY and certainly has the ability to lock down a player of Randle’s caliber. I expect Antetokounmpo and Holiday to do their part in locking down the Knicks stars, and that will force the ball into role players’ hands. The rim protection Antetokounmpo and Lopez provide will outmatch Randle and Mitchell Robinson, forcing the Knicks to live and die by streaky shooters launching up 3’s.
On the offensive end, the Bucks certainly have the firepower needed to penetrate a weak Knicks defense. Antetokounmpo is on an absolute mission to claim his 3rd MVP title, and the Knicks will have no match for what he brings to the table. The post game, coupled with the sheer strength and driving ability, makes Antetokounmpo borderline unstoppable.
The first bet I’m making tonight is Bucks moneyline at -230 odds. While the -6 spread is tempting, I expect this to be a back-and-forth contest, with the Bucks ultimately being crowned victorious. The Knicks will lead during stretches of the game, but the hit or miss 3 ball shooting will fall just short. This leads me to shy away from the spread, as while the Bucks will win, it won’t be comfortable.
The second bet for this matchup is Under 223.5 points. The Knicks will struggle to score and will have long droughts, helping this total to stay under. The Bucks are giving up a league best 97.3 PPG, and I don’t expect the Knicks to be the ones to blow past this number. The Knicks finishing in the 100-point range and the Bucks being between 105-110 certainly feels well within reach, and would cash our under with ease. Betting against Antetokounmpo on the offensive end is never fun, but it feels as though this one has Under written all over it.
Finally, the player prop for tonight’s game is Jalen Brunson Over 6.5 Assists at +125. Brunson will have Holiday tightly guarding him for a majority of the game and will be forced to give up the rock late in the shot clock. I expect him to take fewer shots and find his teammates more frequently. At plus-money for a player averaging 8.5 APG, it feels like a no brainer to me.
