THE TRENDS:

As MLB teams have just crossed the halfway point of the season, the New York Yankees, Houston and New York Mets are the best bets in baseball by a rather significant margin. The reason for their success; the Yanks are an amazing 22-3 in games decided by 4 or more runs. When the Astros or Mets are favored, they are 46-20 and 40-18, respectively.

 

The next best team to wager on is a shocker, Baltimore. Why are the Orioles doing so well for baseball bettors? They are 28-27 as underdogs of +100 to +199 and up over 12 units!

 

 After being the best bet in baseball at better than +40 units last season, San Francisco’s magical year has completely turned around. In 2021, the Giants were 75-33 as favorites (+27 units). This year to date, San Francisco is 34-29 and down double-digits on units.

In the series opener, Atlanta is expected to use right-hander Charlie Morton, who is 4-3 with a 4.34 ERA. After a very poor start, Morton has gotten into a groove, permitting just four runs in four starts covering 26 2/3 innings, fanning 35, and walking only 5. Washington’s anticipated starter is Erick Fedde (5-5, 4.29 ERA), who has pitched better recently but is susceptible to a bad outing at any point. With Atlanta 49-27 against the run line vs. an NL team with a batting average of .255 or worse in the second half of the season since last year, the Bravos on the RL is the best value
