Caesars Sportsbook Goes All-In for New York Mobile Market Share
The biggest story in US sports betting this January has been the launch of legal mobile sportsbook apps in the state of New York. Going back to the final few months of 2021, the anticipation for mobile betting going live across New York was about as high as it gets for any new state entering the marketplace.

Unlimited potential would be a good way to describe the business environment in New York for mobile sportsbook operators. Eventually, there will be a total of nine operators in the Empire State led by industry leaders such as FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM.
The one to watch in the race to gain the highest market share would be Caesars Sportsbook. With Nevada’s Caesars Entertainment as the parent company behind Caesars Interactive, this operator made an immediate impact on the New York mobile market.
Ahead of the actual launch, Caesars formed a landmark partnership with the joint owners of Madison Square Garden, which includes the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers.
Caesars Sportsbook can fully leverage that partnership in its efforts for new customer acquisitions. This sportsbook can also leverage its access to a huge database of Caesars Rewards members tied to the company’s casino operations.
Leaving no stone unturned in the immediate rollout plans, Caesars is offering New York sports bettors an initial deposit match up to $3,000. This offer goes along with a $300 bonus in the form of a free first bet when signing up for the mobile betting app. New customers must be at least 21 to take advantage of this offer.
Caesars Sportsbook went live at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8 as the earliest any New York mobile sportsbook could start taking live bets on opening day. Other mobile books taking advantage of the earlier-than-expected launch were FanDuel, DraftKings and Rush Street Interactive via the BetRivers brand.
To create another point of difference against the competition, Caesars Sportsbook has incorporated some New York-specific promotions geared towards the state’s large collection of professional franchises in US-based sports leagues.
The New York Jets, New York Giants and Buffalo Bills represent the NFL. The Brooklyn Nets join the Knicks in the NBA. The NHL also has the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres as two more in-state teams and MLB franchises include the New York Yankees and New York Mets as two of the more iconic sports teams in the state.
Caesars Sportsbook is new to the state as a mobile sportsbook app. The company’s in-state gaming partner is the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, which is located in the upstate region of New York. This gaming venue is owned and operated by the Oneida Nation.
Ken Fuchs is the head of sports for Caesars. He had this to say about his company’s grass roots efforts to grow market share in New York’s mobile sports betting market.
“Over the course of the next several months, you’ll see us do experimental events across the state. We have a 60 million person database and we’ll accelerate that with Turning Stone and the Knicks and the Rangers and MSG. You’ll see us do a lot of things on the ground and take the opportunity to get in front of fans.”
Caesars also has plans to fully leverage its position as a national casino gaming operator. New York sports bettors will be able to earn Caesars Rewards points for their online activity. These points can be redeemed for dining and hotel stays at any land-based Caesars Entertainment properties.
New York is one of more than a dozen states in the US where Caesars Sportsbook now operates. This was the product of a rebranding effort for William Hill. Caesars Entertainment closed on the acquisition of that UK-based sportsbook’s US operations in 2021.
