NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 12: Advice and Predictions
Before we get into the meat and potatoes of this article, I want to first wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. It’s important to pause and give thanks for what’s important in life, and that is your health, the health of your family and all the little things that we take for granted on a daily basis. It’s also important to understand that you should be giving thanks on a daily basis and not just when the calendar tells you to do so. But I digress. Enjoy gathering around and eating delicious food with your family and remember that all day football is the gravy on top, not the main entrée.
Here are my survivor plays ranked from strongest to weakest for Week 12 of the National Football League Season. The team I list first is my selection.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Buffalo Bills over New Orleans Saints: The Bills should be thankful that Alvin Kamara is likely out for this contest. They were gashed on the ground last week, but I expect them to get back in the win column this week against a weak passing team in the Saints.
Philadelphia Eagles over New York Giants: Philly fans are thankful that the team is getting hot at the right time. The Eagles have won two straight and now get to face a lowly Giants team that has very little to be thankful for this year. Eagles roll and inch closer to the Cowboys in the NFC East.
Green Bay Packers over Los Angeles Rams: This should be a really good game. Both teams are off losses, so they should be desperate to get back in the win column. I’ll side with Aaron Rodgers in this one and their better overall defense.
New England Patriots over Tennessee Titans: Somehow, some way, the Patriots are now leading the AFC East and have a very winnable game against a suddenly reeling Titans team. The Titans will be thankful that they still have a two-game lead over the Colts, so a loss here isn’t the end of the world.
Los Angeles Chargers over Denver Broncos: The Chargers are the far superior team. Do not let the “let down spot” fool you in this one. Denver sucks and is not going to be able to score with the Chargers to stay close in this game.
Dallas Cowboys over Las Vegas Raiders: The only thing to be thankful for with this game is the lack of defense that will be played. Both teams should be able to put up points, and I can’t picture a scenario where the Raiders go on the road and beat a good team. Take Dallas.
Pittsburgh Steelers over Cincinnati Bengals: The Steelers were full marks for their effort on Sunday night when they almost beat the Chargers without their entire defense. Now they get a bad Bengals team who is off an unimpressive win vs the Raiders. I’ll take the Steelers in this one.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Indianapolis Colts: Both teams are coming into this game off of really good wins, but I’ll side with the Bucs in this one as they have more offensive weapons, and I don’t see the Colts running game gashing the Bucs like it did the Bills.
Carolina Panthers over Miami Dolphins: Thankfully, I won’t have to watch this game because it’s not going to be very good. Both teams have major flaws, but I’ll take Cam Newton to outplay Tua Tagovailoa in this contest.
Minnesota Vikings over San Francisco 49ers: I don’t want to trust either of these two teams, but I’ll take the Vikings in this spot to build off of their win last week vs the Packers.
Cleveland Browns over Baltimore Ravens: Normally this would be a great spot to back Baltimore in a revenge spot vs Cleveland. However, Baltimore doesn’t really impress me much. And while Cleveland struggled to beat the Lions, I think Cleveland is a matchup problem for the Ravens.
Detroit Lions over Chicago Bears: Besides the fact that it’s a football game at 12:30 on a Thursday, there isn’t much to be thankful for regarding this game. Both teams suck, so we will take a shot with the team that’s shown a much better effort over the course of the season. That is, surprisingly, the Lions.
Jacksonville Jaguars over Atlanta Falcons: I’m thankful that there are other games I can watch instead of this one. Both teams stink, but I think the Jags can pull this one out on the heels of a good running game and a solid performance by Trevor Lawrence (he’s due for a good game)
New York Jets over Houston Texans: Both fan bases should be thankful that the loser of this game could have the inside lane to the No. 2 overall pick in next years’ draft. I mean, what else is there to be thankful for if you’re a Jets or Texans fan?
Washington Football Team over Seattle Seahawks: This is the final game of Week 12, and thankfully we get to wager on it, or else I wouldn’t be watching. The Football Team should be able to build off their win last week, while the Seahawks are basically a zombie-like football team.
