NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 5
Week 4 had some fantastic matchups and storylines; unbeaten streaks ended and some major upsets to take note of. Now, let's unpack week 4’s important moments.
The Arizona Cardinals are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL after defeating the favored Los Angeles Rams, and this victory was a statement win for the Cardinals as they are now the team to beat in the NFL and take ahold of the powerful NFC West going into week 5. The Cardinals have snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Rams, and the victory builds tons of confidence moving forward.

As mentioned in last week’s report, the teams without wins included five teams, and the list has now been cut down to two teams. It was bound to happen, but three of these teams winning in the same week made week 4 a very difficult week to pick. The Jets, Giants and Colts were all able to close out their first victories of the season. The Colts were a team not many expected to be in this position coming into week 4, but a gutsy win on the road may have swayed the public perception of them heading into week 5. The Jets and Giants were the two biggest upsets of the week, and both teams went to overtime and were able to close out wins in dramatic fashion.
Has any offense looked better than the Dallas Cowboys this year? It was on full display in week 4, and the Cowboys were able to beat the undefeated Carolina Panthers Sunday. Dallas has looked like a powerhouse since their week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Matchup of the week included the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New England Patriots, Tom Brady’s first game back in Foxborough was nothing short of emotional. The Patriots made Brady and the Bucs earn every inch Sunday night, but ultimately Brady was able to rally his squad to victory in his return.
In week 5 there are nine teams being picked at over 90%, so let’s take a look at which matchups can bring you the most value entering Sunday.
Key matchups of week are as followed:
Cleveland Browns @ Los Angeles Chargers
Spread +2.5 (Browns)
Pick Popularity 26%
Win Percentage 46%
This game offers a lot of value because it is an unpopular toss up game. With nearly two thirds of users picking the Chargers, it can give you a chance to catch up on points in a coin flip matchup. The Browns are no slouch, having the 6th ranked passing defense in the NFL, and the Chargers are riding a high, coming off an emotional Monday Night Football victory with America watching.
New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium London, England)
Spread +3 (Jets)
Pick Popularity 27%
Win percentage 38%
Zach Wilson balled out in week 4. After starting the year rather slow the rookie quarterback showed fans why they drafted him second overall. Facing a similar defense to the Titans, this matchup gives Wilson and the Jets every possibility to repeat their performance in week 4. Playing at a neutral stadium, it can be anyone’s game, and the public is still down on the Jets, which can be a sneaky play in week 5.
Carolina Panthers vs Philadelphia Eagles
Spread -3.5 (Panthers)
Pick Popularity 84%
Win percentage 62%
Being the 10th most popular pick this week, I think you can confidently move the Carolina Panthers up in your confidence pool. Sam Darnold has looked nothing short of fantastic this season, and the Panthers were able to go toe to toe with the high-powered Cowboys offence in week 4. Before last week, the Panthers were allowing 10 points per game this season. The Eagles have allowed an average of 41.5 points against in their last two games.
Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens
Spread +6.5 (Colts)
Pick Popularity 3%
Win Percentage 27%
I am not outright saying that this upset will happen, but the Ravens come into the week being the third most popular pick. I believe you should rank them much lower on your confidence scale. The Colts are coming off a season saving victory in Miami and are a much better team than 1-3. Moving forward, I believe you are going to see a new look Colts team. The Colts have had a very tough schedule and have been in every game; look for a potential upset in this one but rank this matchup lower on your confidence scale.
