NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 10
Week 9 in the NFL proved the parity in the league, leaving ‘experts’ and sports better stunned by many of the outcomes. I believe last week proved why the NFL is adored by so many. This quote sums it up best by Al Pacino: “Any Given Sunday”.
We saw another sloppy performance by the Kansas City Chiefs over the Green Bay Packers. The Packers looked totally out of sync without Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes looked very average at best. All this game was good for was leaving the public with less confidence in the Chiefs. The Baltimore Ravens snuck out another close victory against the Minnesota Vikings, going into their third overtime game of the year. It was also Baltimore’s fourth win of the season where they had a 15 percent or less win percentage at some point in the second half of the game. On the flip side, the Vikings have not had a loss this year by more than one score.

The Cleveland Browns played extremely well despite the Odell Beckham circumstances leading into the week. The Browns took it to divisional rival Cincinnati, winning 41-16, which was much needed to keep pace in the AFC North race. The Denver Broncos shut down the No. 1 offense in the NFL Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys looked like a completely different team against the Broncos, and you have to believe Dak Prescott is not fully recovered from his leg injury. The only thing this game tells us is that Dallas is capable of an off day, which they have yet to have this year.
An even more shocking upset took place In Jacksonville Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Buffalo Bills, who are widely considered the team to beat in the AFC. There is really no explanation for this game; if the Bills are capable of losing this game, any game in the AFC is up for grabs this year. Much like the Chiefs, the Bills are being played completely different this year from a defensive strategy. Defenses are daring both the Bills and Chiefs to run the ball, dropping two safeties back in most formations. Both teams have to adapt if they are going to make a playoff run this year.
Key matchups of week are as followed:
Philadelphia Eagles @ Denver Broncos
Spread +2.5 (Eagles)
Pick Popularity 22%
Win Percentage 41%
The public is heavy on the Denver Broncos for obvious reasons; they took down one of the hottest teams in the NFL last week. Denver is just 2-2 at home this season and have looked all but consistent since week 1. From a value standpoint, this game offers you that. The Eagles are a gritty team and have the capability to surprise opponents. I personally view this game as a coinflip. If you need to catch up in your league, take the Eagles.
Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Chargers
Spread +3 (Vikings)
Pick Popularity 13%
Win percentage 43%
This has got to be one of the most intriguing matchups of the week. The Vikings are a few plays away from being 6-2, and the Chargers have been one of the most hot and cold teams in the NFL this year. Which versions of the Vikings and Chargers will we get? The Vikings have shown a lot more consistency this year but have had difficulty closing out games in crunch time. The Chargers are definitely the team with the higher ceiling but also the lower floor. In a matchup this tight, I do not believe the Vikings are getting the respect they deserve with only 13% of the public choosing them.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders
Spread +2.5 (Chiefs)
Pick Popularity 61%
Win percentage 59%
There are four other teams favored in the same proximity of the Kansas City Chiefs (2.5-3.5); those teams are being picked between 75 and 87 percent by the public. Of this group, pool entrants are relatively more comfortable making the Raiders as their upset pick. From a strategical standpoint, you should go the opposite way to gain points in your league. Take the Chiefs in this one and rank them above the Titans, Packers, Broncos and Chargers games.
Week 1 performance from Devon: 68 points
