FanDuel Ups the Ante in the Motor City

The latest company news from the FanDuel Group in New York City marks the addition of two prominent Detroit professional sports franchises as Official Gaming Partners.

This marketing partnership was made possible through a collaboration with MotorCity Casino Hotel. This gives FanDuel Sportsbook official gaming partner status with MLB’s Detroit Tigers and the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.

As two of the most prominent and iconic sports franchises in that city, FanDuel looks to cement its status as a major player in the legal Michigan sports betting industry.

A big part of the sponsorship deal with each team is a prominent marketing presence at Comerica Park with the Tigers and at Little Caesars Arena with the Red Wings. This includes both static and digital signage on the outfield wall for baseball games and on the dasher boards for hockey.

The FanDuel brand will also be featured on each team’s radio network as an official gaming partner. These radio networks offer coverage to fans all across the state.

The significance of adding MotorCity Casino to the mix is directed at an online gaming experience. FanDuel recently launched fully integrated online gaming through a mobile sportsbook app as well as a mobile casino app.

Both of these apps are available for download offering both iOS and Android capabilities. They are available for Michigan residents as well as visitors to the Great Lakes State.

Mike Raffensperger is the Chief Marketing Officer at FanDuel Group. He recently commented on these new marketing partnerships in an official company release:

“After a very successful launch in Michigan, we are excited to continue our momentum by partnering in this way with two of the most iconic sports organizations in the country. To celebrate, we are offering a $25 registration bonus for all eligible Red Wings and Tigers fans that use the code DETROIT after registering for a FanDuel Sportsbook account.”

FanDuel has made a conscience effort to partner with Major League Baseball teams in markets across the US where mobile sports betting is legal. MLB has recognized FanDuel as one of 15 different MLB Authorized Gaming Operators. The sportsbook is also an official sports betting partner of the National Hockey League.

Creating further synergy, both of these Detroit teams are marketing partners with MotorCity Casino Hotel. FanDuel is the casino’s gaming partner in the state of Michigan. The company opened the FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino in March of last year.

The casino also hosts multiple cross-marketing events with each of these teams throughout the season. The MotorCity Casino Club at Little Caesars Arena offers a VIP experience during Red Wings home games. The MotorCity Casino Hotel “Off Ramp Bar” is located inside Comerica Park.

As a subsidiary of Flutter Entertainment plc in the UK, FanDuel is part of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming operator. The company’s entire portfolio of brands is recognized on a global scale. Flutter Entertainment is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange trading under the symbol FLTR.

MotorCity Casino Hotel is the only locally owned casino gaming venue in the Detroit area. In 2005, Marian Ilitch became the sole owner and a $300 expansion project was completed in 2008. Luxury accommodations in the 400-room high-tech hotel complement casino gambling and sports betting in the FanDuel Sportsbook.
