DraftKings Expands Its Online Casino With DK Craps
DraftKings first gained notoriety as Daily Fantasy Sports site. When legal online sports betting started popping up in states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the company quickly shifted gears to develop and market a mobile sportsbook app.
Based in Boston, DraftKings’ growth over the past three years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Taking a page from the biggest offshore sportsbooks that formed the online gambling industry, the company continues to expand its own line of Las Vegas-style casino games.
Currently, almost half the states in the country plus the District of Columbia offer legal sports betting in some form. There are roughly 15 states offering legal online sports betting through a mobile sportsbook app. This leaves quite a bit of room for expansion over the coming years.
The next big wave of online gambling will also be tied to the expansion of legal casino games. Currently, only a handful of states offer legal online casino games. That market is led by New Jersey and Pennsylvania with both Michigan and West Virginia on the list as well.
As an industry pioneer, DraftKings is always looking for ways to expand its market presence in the legal online sports betting market.
As an industry innovator, this sportsbook is also looking for ways to expand the gaming verticals it offers. That is why DraftKings has also developed its own online casino gaming app. This gives casino gamblers the opportunity to play their favorite slot and table games from the ease of a desktop, laptop or handheld device with internet access.
This is still a relatively small market as compared to online sports betting but iGaming is also expanding at a rapid pace. That is why DraftKings decided to rollout DK Craps as part of its online casino suite of games in the New Jersey market.
Pending regulatory approval, DK Craps should also be available in Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia in the coming weeks and months.
This online craps game is one of its kind in the industry. The game is exclusive to the company, being developed and built in-house.
DK Craps is the latest addition to a iGaming portfolio that offers close to 500 different games. In that group, 50 games have been built by DraftKings’ in-house development team of gaming experts.
This demonstrates a strong commitment to the future potential of iGaming in legal US markets. Jason March is DraftKings vice president of iGaming. He released the following comments through a company statement:
“As the most realistic crap games on the market, we are excited to offer a premier online experience within our top-rated Casino product. Craps was a challenging game to develop given the seemingly endless paths players can take, so I could not be prouder of our internal teams taking on this game development to deliver an authentic experience.”
DK Craps offers an extensive in-game tutorial on how to play along with an on-screen help feature. Players in New Jersey can download the game through the DraftKings Casino app on iOS or Android.
DraftKings has partnered with Resorts Atlantic City for its iGaming operations in New Jersey. Its business partner in Pennsylvania and West Virginia is Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino brand.
In Illinois, DraftKings launched iGaming along with mobile sports betting on Jan. 22 of this year through an exclusive partnership with Bay Mills Casino. During the month of April, the company’s revenue from online casino games topped $14 million.
